Esther 2
1 After these things, when the king's feelings were calmer, the thought of Vashti and what she had done and the order he had made against her, came back to his mind.
௧இவைகளுக்குப்பின்பு, ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேருவின் கோபம் தணிந்தபோது, அவன் வஸ்தியையும் அவள் செய்ததையும் அவளைக்குறித்துத் தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டதையும் நினைத்தான்.
2 Then the servants who were waiting on the king said to him, Let search be made for some fair young virgins for the king:
௨அப்பொழுது ராஜாவிற்குப் பணிவிடை செய்கிற அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள் அவனை நோக்கி: அழகாக இருக்கிற கன்னிப்பெண்களை ராஜாவுக்காகத் தேடவேண்டும்.
3 Let the king give authority to certain men in all the divisions of his kingdom, to get together all the fair young virgins and send them to Shushan, the king's town, to the women's house, under the care of Hegai, the king's servant, the keeper of the women: and let the things needed for making them clean be given to them;
௩அதற்காக ராஜா தம்முடைய ராஜ்ஜியத்தின் நாடுகளிலெல்லாம் பொறுப்பாளர்களை வைக்கவேண்டும்; இவர்கள் அழகாக இருக்கிற எல்லா கன்னிப்பெண்களையும் ஒன்றுகூட்டி, சூசான் அரண்மனையில் இருக்கிற கன்னிமாடத்திற்கு அழைத்துவந்து, பெண்களைக் காவல்காக்கிற ராஜாவின் அதிகாரியாகிய யேகாயினிடம் ஒப்புவிக்கவேண்டும்; அவர்களுடைய அலங்கரிப்புக்கு வேண்டியவைகள் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படவேண்டும்.
4 And let the girl who is pleasing to the king be queen in place of Vashti. And the king was pleased with this suggestion; and he did so.
௪அப்பொழுது ராஜாவின் கண்களுக்குப் பிரியமான கன்னி, வஸ்திக்கு பதிலாகப் பட்டத்து ராணியாகவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்; இந்த வார்த்தை ராஜாவிற்கு நலமாகத் தோன்றியபடியால் அப்படியே செய்தான்.
5 Now there was a certain Jew in Shushan named Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;
௫அப்பொழுது சூசான் அரண்மனையிலே பென்யமீனியனாகிய கீசின் மகன் சீமேயினுடைய மகனாகிய யாவீரின் மகன் மொர்தெகாய் என்னும் பெயருள்ள ஒரு யூதன் இருந்தான்.
6 Who had been taken away from Jerusalem among those who had been made prisoner with Jeconiah, king of Judah, when Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had taken him away.
௬அவன் பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எகொனியாவைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோகிறபோது, அவனோடு எருசலேமிலிருந்து பிடித்து கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டவர்களில் ஒருவனாக இருந்தான்.
7 And he had been a father to Hadassah, that is Esther, the daughter of his father's brother: for she had no father or mother, and she was very beautiful; and when her father and mother were dead, Mordecai took her for his daughter.
௭அவன் தன்னுடைய சிறிய தகப்பனின் மகளாகிய எஸ்தர் என்னும் அத்சாளை வளர்த்தான்; அவளுக்குத் தாய்தகப்பன் இல்லை; அந்தப் பெண் அழகும் விரும்பத்தக்கவளுமாக இருந்தாள்; அவளுடைய தகப்பனும், தாயும் மரணமடைந்தபோது, மொர்தெகாய் அவளைத் தன்னுடைய மகளாக எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்.
8 So when the order made by the king was publicly given out, and a number of girls had been placed in the care of Hegai in the king's house in Shushan, Esther was taken into the king's house and put in the care of Hegai, the keeper of the women.
௮ராஜாவின் கட்டளையும் தீர்மானமும் பிரபலமாகி, அநேக பெண்கள் கூட்டப்பட்டு, சூசான் அரண்மனையிலுள்ள யேகாயினிடத்தில் ஒப்புவிக்கப்படுகிறபோது, எஸ்தரும் ராஜாவின் அரண்மனைக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டு, பெண்களைக் காவல்காக்கிற யேகாயினிடம் ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்டாள்.
9 And he was pleased with the girl and was kind to her; and he quickly gave her what was needed for making her clean, and the things which were hers by right, and seven servant-girls who were to be hers from the king's house: and he had her and her servant-girls moved to the best place in the women's part of the house.
௯அந்தப் பெண் அவனுடைய பார்வைக்கு நன்றாக இருந்ததால், அவளுக்கு அவனுடைய கண்களிலே தயவு கிடைத்தது; ஆகையால் அவளுடைய அலங்கரிப்புக்கு வேண்டியவைகளையும், அவளுக்குத் தேவையான மற்றவைகளையும் அவளுக்குக் கொடுக்கவும், ராஜ அரண்மனையில் இருக்கிற ஏழு பணிப்பெண்களை அவளுக்கு நியமித்து கன்னிமாடத்தில் சிறந்த ஒரு இடத்திலே அவளையும் அவளுடைய பணிப்பெண்களையும் வைத்தான்.
10 Esther had not said what family or people she came from, for Mordecai had given her orders not to do so.
௧0எஸ்தரோ தன்னுடைய மக்களையும், தன்னுடைய உறவினர்களையும் அறிவிக்காமல் இருந்தாள்; மொர்தெகாய் அதைத் தெரிவிக்கவேண்டாமென்று அவளுக்குக் கற்பித்திருந்தான்.
11 And every day Mordecai took his walk before the square of the women's house, to see how Esther was and what would be done to her.
௧௧எஸ்தருடைய சுகசெய்தியையும் அவளுக்கு நடக்கும் காரியத்தையும் அறிய மொர்தெகாய் தினந்தோறும் கன்னிமாடத்து முற்றத்திற்கு முன்பாக உலாவுவான்.
12 Now every girl, when her turn came, had to go in to King Ahasuerus, after undergoing, for a space of twelve months, what was ordered by the law for the women (for this was the time necessary for making them clean, that is, six months with oil of myrrh and six months with sweet perfumes and such things as are needed for making women clean):
௧௨ஒவ்வொரு பெண்ணும் ஆறுமாதங்கள் வெள்ளைப்போளத் தைலத்தினாலும், ஆறுமாதங்கள் வாசனைப்பொருட்களாலும், பெண்களுக்குரிய மற்ற அலங்கரிப்புகளினாலும் அலங்கரிக்கப்படுகிற நாட்கள் நிறைவேறி, இப்படியாக பெண்களின் முறையின்படி பன்னிரண்டு மாதங்களாகச் செய்துமுடித்தபின்பு, ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேருவினிடம் வர, அவளவளுடைய முறை வருகிறபோது,
13 And in this way the girl went in to the king; whatever she had a desire for was given to her to take with her from the women's house into the house of the king.
௧௩இப்படி அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட பெண் ராஜாவிடம் போவாள்; கன்னிமாடத்திலிருந்து தன்னோடு ராஜ அரண்மனைக்குப் போக, அவள் தனக்கு வேண்டுமென்று கேட்பவைகளை எல்லாம் அவளுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்.
14 In the evening she went, and on the day after she came back to the second house of the women, into the keeping of Shaashgaz, one of the king's unsexed servants who had the care of the king's wives: only if the king had delight in her and sent for her by name did she go in to him again.
௧௪மாலையில் அவள் உள்ளே போய், காலையில், பிடித்த பெண்களைக் காவல்காக்கிற ராஜாவின் அதிகாரியாகிய சாஸ்காசுடைய பொறுப்பில் இருக்கிற பெண்களின் இரண்டாம் மாடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவருவாள்; ராஜா தன்னை விரும்பிப் பெயர்சொல்லி அழைக்கும்வரை அவள் ஒருபோதும் ராஜாவிடம் போகக்கூடாது.
15 Now when the time came for Esther, the daughter of Abihail, his father's brother, whom Mordecai had taken as his daughter, to go in to the king, she made request for nothing but what Hegai, the king's servant and keeper of the women, had given her. And Esther was looked on kindly by all who saw her.
௧௫மொர்தெகாய் தனக்கு மகளாய் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டவளும், அவனுடைய சிறிய தகப்பனாகிய அபியாயேலின் மகளுமான எஸ்தர் ராஜாவிடம் போவதற்கு முறை வந்தபோது, அவள் பெண்களைக் காவல்காக்கிற ராஜாவின் அதிகாரியாகிய யேகாய் நியமித்த காரியத்தைத் தவிர வேறொன்றும் கேட்கவில்லை; எஸ்தருக்குத் தன்னைக் காண்கிற எல்லோருடைய கண்களிலும் தயவு கிடைத்தது.
16 So Esther was taken in to King Ahasuerus in his house in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his rule.
௧௬அப்படியே எஸ்தர் ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேரு அரசாளுகிற ஏழாம் வருடம் தேபேத் மாதமாகிய பத்தாம் மாதத்திலே அரண்மனைக்கு ராஜாவிடம் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகப்பட்டாள்.
17 And Esther was more pleasing to the king than all the women, and to his eyes she was fairer and more full of grace than all the other virgins: so he put his crown on her head and made her queen in place of Vashti.
௧௭ராஜா எல்லாப் பெண்களையும்விட எஸ்தர்மேல் அன்புவைத்தான்; எல்லா கன்னிப்பெண்களையும்விட அவளுக்கு ராஜாவிற்கு முன்பாக அதிக தயவும் இரக்கமும் கிடைத்தது; ஆகையால் ராஜா ராஜகிரீடத்தை அவளுடைய தலையின்மேல் வைத்து, அவளை வஸ்தியின் இடத்தில் பட்டத்து ராணியாக்கினான்.
18 Then the king gave a great feast for all his captains and his servants, even Esther's feast; and he gave orders through all the divisions of his kingdom for a day of rest from work, and gave wealth from his store.
௧௮அப்பொழுது ராஜா தன்னுடைய எல்லாப் பிரபுக்களுக்கும் வேலைக்காரர்களுக்கும், எஸ்தரினிமித்தம் ஒரு பெரிய விருந்துசெய்து, நாடுகளுக்கும் கரிசனையோடு வரிவிலக்கு உண்டாக்கி, தன்னுடைய கொடைத்தன்மைக்கு ஏற்றவாறு வெகுமானங்களைக் கொடுத்தான்.
19 And when the virgins came together in the second house of the women, Mordecai took his seat in the doorway of the king's house.
௧௯இரண்டாம்முறை கன்னிகைகள் சேர்க்கப்படும்போது, மொர்தெகாய் ராஜாவின் அரண்மனை வாசலில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான்.
20 Esther had still said nothing of her family or her people, as Mordecai had given her orders; for Esther did what Mordecai said, as when she was living with him.
௨0எஸ்தர் மொர்தெகாய் தனக்குக் கற்பித்திருந்தபடி, தன்னுடைய உறவினர்களையும் தன்னுடைய மக்களையும் தெரிவிக்காதிருந்தாள்; எஸ்தர் மொர்தெகாயிடம் வளரும்போது அவனுடைய சொல்லைக்கேட்டு நடந்ததுபோல, இப்பொழுதும் அவனுடைய சொல்லைக்கேட்டு நடந்துவந்தாள்.
21 In those days, while Mordecai was seated at the king's doorway, two of the king's servants, Bigthan and Teresh, keepers of the door, being angry, were looking for a chance to make an attack on King Ahasuerus.
௨௧அந்த நாட்களில் மொர்தெகாய் ராஜாவின் அரண்மனை வாசலில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறபோது, வாசல்காக்கிற ராஜாவின் இரண்டு வாசல் காவலாளிகள் பிக்தானாவும் தேரேசும் கடுங்கோபத்துடன், ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேருக்கு தீங்குசெய்ய வாய்ப்பைத் தேடினார்கள்.
22 And Mordecai, having knowledge of their purpose, sent word of it to Esther the queen; and Esther gave the news to the king in Mordecai's name.
௨௨இந்தக் காரியம் மொர்தெகாய்க்குத் தெரியவந்ததால், அவன் அதை ராணியாகிய எஸ்தருக்கு அறிவித்தான்; எஸ்தர் மொர்தெகாயின் பெயரால் அதை ராஜாவிற்குச் சொன்னாள்.
23 And when the thing had been looked into, it was seen to be true, and the two of them were put to death by hanging on a tree: and it was put down in the records before the king.
௨௩அந்தக் காரியம் விசாரிக்கப்படுகிறபோது, அது உண்மையென்று காணப்பட்டது; ஆகையால் அவர்கள் இருவரும் மரத்திலே தூக்கிப்போடப்பட்டார்கள்; இது ராஜ சமுகத்திலே நாளாகமப்புத்தகத்திலே எழுதப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
