Deuteronomy 29
1 These are the words of the agreement which Moses was ordered by the Lord to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, in addition to the agreement which he made with them in Horeb.
Acestea sunt cuvintele legământului, pe care DOMNUL a poruncit lui Moise, ca să îl facă cu copiii lui Israel în ţara Moabului, în afară de legământul pe care l-a făcut cu ei în Horeb.
2 And Moses said in the hearing of all Israel, You have seen all the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh and to all his servants and all his land;
Şi Moise a chemat pe tot Israelul şi le-a spus: Aţi văzut tot ce a făcut DOMNUL înaintea ochilor voştri în ţara Egiptului, lui Faraon şi tuturor servitorilor lui şi întregii lui ţări;
3 The great tests which your eyes saw, and the signs and wonders:
Marile ispite pe care ochii tăi le-au văzut, semnele şi acele mari miracole,
4 But even to this day the Lord has not given you a mind open to knowledge, or seeing eyes or hearing ears.
Totuşi DOMNUL nu v-a dat o inimă să pătrundeţi şi ochi să vedeţi şi urechi să auziţi, până în această zi.
5 For forty years I have been your guide through the waste land: your clothing has not become old on your backs, or your shoes on your feet.
Şi v-am condus patruzeci de ani prin pustiu, hainele voastre nu s-au învechit pe voi şi sandaua ta nu s-a învechit pe piciorul tău.
6 You have had no bread, or wine, or strong drink: so that you might see that I am the Lord your God.
Nu aţi mâncat pâine, nici nu aţi băut vin sau băutură tare, ca să cunoaşteţi că eu sunt DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru.
7 When you came to this place, Sihon, king of Heshbon, and Og, king of Bashan, came out to make war against us and we overcame them:
Şi când aţi ajuns la acest loc, Sihon, împăratul Hesbonului, şi Og, împăratul Basanului, au ieşit împotriva noastră la bătălie şi noi i-am lovit,
8 And we took their land and gave it to the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for their heritage.
Şi le-am luat ţara şi am dat-o ca moştenire rubeniţilor şi gadiţilor şi la jumătate din tribul lui Manase.
9 So keep the words of this agreement and do them, so that it may be well for you in everything you do.
Păziţi de aceea cuvintele acestui legământ şi împliniţi-le, ca să prosperaţi în tot ce faceţi.
10 You have come here today, all of you, before the Lord your God; the heads of your tribes, the overseers, and those who are in authority over you, with all the men of Israel,
Voi staţi în picioare astăzi cu toţii înaintea DOMNULUI Dumnezeul vostru, căpeteniile triburilor voastre, bătrânii voştri şi administratorii voştri, toţi bărbaţii lui Israel,
11 And your little ones, your wives, and the men of other lands who are with you in your tents, down to the wood-cutter and the servant who gets water for you:
Micuţii voştri, soţiile voastre şi străinul tău care este în mijlocul taberei tale, de la tăietorul lemnului tău până la aducătorul apei tale,
12 With the purpose of taking part in the agreement of the Lord your God, and his oath which he makes with you today:
Ca să intri în legământ cu DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău şi în jurământul său, pe care DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău îl face cu tine astăzi,
13 And so that he may make you his people today, and be your God, as he has said to you, and as he made an oath to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Ca să te întemeieze astăzi ca popor al său şi să îţi fie Dumnezeu, precum ţi-a spus şi precum a jurat părinţilor tăi, lui Avraam, lui Isaac şi lui Iacob.
14 And not with you only do I make this agreement and this oath;
Şi nu numai cu voi fac acest legământ şi acest jurământ;
15 But with everyone who is here with us today before the Lord our God, as well as with those who are not here:
Ci cu acela care stă în picioare aici astăzi cu noi înaintea DOMNULUI Dumnezeul nostru şi de asemenea cu cel care nu este astăzi aici, cu noi,
16 (For you have in mind how we were living in the land of Egypt; and how we came through all the nations which were on your way;
(Pentru că ştiţi cum am locuit noi în ţara Egiptului; şi cum am trecut prin mijlocul naţiunilor printre care aţi trecut;
17 And you have seen their disgusting doings, and the images of wood and stone and silver and gold which were among them: )
Şi aţi văzut urâciunile lor şi idolii lor, lemn şi piatră, argint şi aur, care erau printre ei),
18 So that there may not be among you any man or woman or family or tribe whose heart is turned away from the Lord our God today, to go after other gods and give them worship; or any root among you whose fruit is poison and bitter sorrow;
Ca nu cumva să fie între voi vreun bărbat, sau femeie sau familie sau trib, a cărui inimă să se întoarcă astăzi de la DOMNUL Dumnezeul nostru, ca să meargă şi să servească dumnezeilor acestor naţiuni, ca nu cumva să fie între voi o rădăcină care aduce fiere şi pelin;
19 If such a man, hearing the words of this oath, takes comfort in the thought that he will have peace even if he goes on in the pride of his heart, taking whatever chance may give him:
Şi să se întâmple, când aude cuvintele acestui blestem, să se binecuvânteze singur în inima sa, spunând: Voi avea pace, deşi umblu în imaginaţia inimii mele, ca să adaug beţia la sete;
20 The Lord will have no mercy on him, but the wrath of the Lord will be burning against that man, and all the curses recorded in this book will be waiting for him, and the Lord will take away his name completely from the earth.
DOMNUL nu îl va scuti, ci furia DOMNULUI şi gelozia lui vor fumega împotriva acelui bărbat şi vor veni peste el toate blestemele care sunt scrise în cartea aceasta şi DOMNUL îi va şterge numele de sub cer.
21 He will be marked out by the Lord, from all the tribes of Israel, for an evil fate, in keeping with all the curses of the agreement recorded in this book of the law.
Şi DOMNUL îl va separa ca rău dintre toate triburile lui Israel, conform cu toate blestemele legământului care sunt scrise în cartea aceasta a legii,
22 And future generations, your children coming after you, and travellers from far countries, will say, when they see the punishments of that land and the diseases which the Lord has sent on it;
Astfel încât generaţia care va veni din copiii voştri, care se va ridica după voi şi străinul care va veni dintr-o ţară îndepărtată, vor spune când vor vedea plăgile ţării acesteia şi bolile pe care DOMNUL le-a pus pe ea;
23 And that all the land is a salt and smoking waste, not planted or giving fruit or clothed with grass, but wasted like Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, on which the Lord sent destruction in the heat of his wrath:
Şi că toată ţara ei este pucioasă şi sare, arzând, că nu este semănată, nici nu rodeşte, nici nu creşte vreo iarbă în ea, ca dărâmarea Sodomei şi Gomorei, Admei şi Ţeboimului, pe care le-a dărâmat DOMNUL în furia sa şi în mânia sa,
24 Truly all the nations will say, Why has the Lord done so to this land? what is the reason for this great and burning wrath?
Chiar toate naţiunile vor spune: Pentru ce a făcut astfel DOMNUL acestei ţări? Ce înseamnă dogoarea acestei mari furii?
25 Then men will say, Because they gave up the agreement of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he took them out of the land of Egypt:
Atunci ei vor spune: Pentru că au părăsit legământul DOMNULUI Dumnezeul părinţilor lor, pe care l-a făcut cu ei când i-a scos din ţara Egiptului,
26 And they went after other gods and gave them worship, gods who were strange to them, and whom he had not given them:
Fiindcă au mers şi au servit altor dumnezei şi li s-au închinat, dumnezei pe care ei nu i-au cunoscut şi el nu li i-a dat,
27 And so the wrath of the Lord was moved against this land, to send on it all the curse recorded in this book:
Şi mânia DOMNULUI s-a aprins împotriva acestei ţări, ca să aducă asupra ei toate blestemele care sunt scrise în această carte,
28 Rooting them out of their land, in the heat of his wrath and passion, and driving them out into another land, as at this day.
Şi DOMNUL i-a dezrădăcinat din ţara lor în furie şi în mânie şi cu mare indignare şi i-a aruncat într-o altă ţară, ca în ziua aceasta.
29 The secret things are the Lord our God's: but the things which have been made clear are ours and our children's for ever, so that we may do all the words of this law.
Lucrurile tainice aparţin DOMNULUI Dumnezeul nostru, dar cele revelate ne aparţin nouă şi copiilor noştri pentru totdeauna, ca să împlinim toate cuvintele acestei legi.
