Deuteronomy 27

1 Then Moses and the responsible men of Israel gave the people these orders: Keep all the orders which I have given you this day;

Weiter geboten Mose und die Ältesten der Israeliten dem Volke folgendes: »Beobachtet alle Gebote, die ich euch heute zur Pflicht mache!

2 And on the day when you go over Jordan into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, put up great stones, coating them with building-paste,

Sobald ihr also über den Jordan in das Land gezogen seid, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir geben wird, so richte dir große Steine auf, überstreiche sie mit Tünchkalk

3 And writing on them all the words of this law, after you have gone over; so that you may take the heritage which the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has said.

und schreibe, sobald du hinübergezogen bist, alle Worte dieses Gesetzes auf sie, damit du in das Land hineinkommst, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir geben will, ein Land, das von Milch und Honig überfließt, wie der HERR, der Gott deiner Väter, dir verheißen hat.

4 And when you have gone over Jordan, you are to put up these stones, as I have said to you today, in Mount Ebal, and have them coated with building-paste.

Sobald ihr also über den Jordan gezogen seid, sollt ihr diese Steine, auf die sich mein heutiger Befehl bezieht, auf dem Berge Ebal aufrichten und sie mit Tünchkalk überstreichen.

5 There you are to make an altar to the Lord your God, of stones on which no iron instrument has been used.

Auch sollst du dort dem HERRN, deinem Gott, einen Altar erbauen, und zwar einen Altar von Steinen, die du mit keinem eisernen Werkzeug bearbeiten darfst:

6 You are to make the altar of the Lord your God of uncut stones; offering on it burned offerings to the Lord your God:

aus unbehauenen Steinen sollst du den Altar des HERRN, deines Gottes, erbauen und dem HERRN, deinem Gott, Brandopfer auf ihm darbringen;

7 And you are to make your peace-offerings, feasting there with joy before the Lord your God.

und du sollst Dankopfer schlachten und ein Opfermahl dort halten und vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, fröhlich sein.

8 And put on the stones all the words of this law, writing them very clearly.

Auf die Steine aber sollst du alle Worte dieses Gesetzes schreiben, indem du sie sorgfältig eingräbst.«

9 Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, said to all Israel, Be quiet and give ear, O Israel; today you have become the people of the Lord your God.

Hierauf richteten Mose und die levitischen Priester folgende Worte an ganz Israel: »Beobachte Schweigen, Israel, und höre zu! Am heutigen Tage bist du zum Volk des HERRN, deines Gottes, geworden.

10 For this cause you are to give ear to the voice of the Lord your God, and do his orders and his laws which I give you this day.

So gehorche denn den Weisungen des HERRN deines Gottes, und halte seine Gebote und seine Satzungen, die ich dir heute gebiete!«

11 That same day Moses said to the people,

An demselben Tage erteilte Mose dem Volke folgenden Befehl:

12 These are to take their places on Mount Gerizim for blessing the people when you have gone over Jordan: Simeon and Levi and Judah and Issachar and Joseph and Benjamin;

»Wenn ihr über den Jordan gezogen seid, so sollen die einen sich auf dem Berge Garizim aufstellen, um das Volk zu segnen, nämlich Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issaschar, Joseph und Benjamin;

13 And these are to be on Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

die anderen aber sollen sich, um den Fluch auszusprechen, auf dem Berge Ebal aufstellen, nämlich Ruben, Gad und Asser und Sebulon, Dan und Naphthali.

14 Then the Levites are to say in a loud voice to all the men of Israel,

Danach sollen die Leviten anheben und mit hocherhobener Stimme zu allen Männern Israels sagen:

15 Cursed is the man who makes any image of wood or stone or metal, disgusting to the Lord, the work of man's hands, and puts it up in secret. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer ein geschnitztes oder gegossenes Bild, einen Greuel für den HERRN, ein Machwerk von Künstlerhand, anfertigt und es heimlich aufstellt!‹, und das ganze Volk soll antworten: ›So sei es!‹

16 Cursed is he who does not give honour to his father or mother. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer seinen Vater oder seine Mutter mißachtet!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

17 Cursed is he who takes his neighbour's landmark from its place. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer die Grenze seines Nächsten verrückt!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

18 Cursed is he by whom the blind are turned out of the way. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer einen Blinden auf dem Wege irreführt!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

19 Cursed is he who gives a wrong decision in the cause of a man from a strange land, or of one without a father, or of a widow. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer das Recht von Fremdlingen, von Waisen und Witwen beugt!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

20 Cursed is he who has sex relations with his father's wife, for he has put shame on his father. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer sich mit dem Weibe seines Vaters vergeht; denn er hat die Bettdecke seines Vaters aufgedeckt!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

21 Cursed is he who has sex relations with any sort of beast. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer irgendein Tier zur Unzucht mißbraucht!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

22 Cursed is he who has sex relations with his sister, the daughter of his father or of his mother. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer sich mit seiner Schwester, der Tochter seines Vaters oder der Tochter seiner Mutter, vergeht!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

23 Cursed is he who has sex relations with his mother-in-law. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer sich mit seiner Schwägerin vergeht!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

24 Cursed is he who takes his neighbour's life secretly. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer seinen Nächsten heimlich erschlägt!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

25 Cursed is he who for a reward puts to death one who has done no wrong. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer sich durch Bestechung dazu bringen läßt, jemand zu erschlagen, unschuldiges Blut zu vergießen!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹

26 Cursed is he who does not take this law to heart to do it. And let all the people say, So be it.

›Verflucht sei, wer nicht die Bestimmungen dieses Gesetzes durch ihre Erfüllung aufrechthält!‹, und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›So sei es!‹«
