< Daniel 4 >
1 Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all the peoples, nations, and languages living in all the earth: May your peace be increased.
Siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar mah, kaminawk, prae kaminawk, lok congca pae kaminawk hoi long nuiah kaom kaminawk boih, nangcae khaeah misa angdaehhaih om nasoe!
2 It has seemed good to me to make clear the signs and wonders which the Most High God has done with me.
Kasang koek Sithaw mah kai khaeah sak ih angmathaih hoi dawnrai hmuennawk to nangcae khae thuih hanah ka koeh.
3 How great are his signs! and how full of power are his wonders! his kingdom is an eternal kingdom and his rule goes on from generation to generation.
Anih ih angmathaih loe kawkruk maw len! A prae loe dungzan prae ah oh moe, a ukhaih doeh dung maeto hoi maeto khoek to cak.
4 I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my place, and all things were going well for me in my great house:
Kai, Nebuchadnezzar loe kai mah ih im, hmuenmae lensawkhaih hoi siangpahrang im ah ka oh:
5 I saw a dream which was a cause of great fear to me; I was troubled by the images of my mind on my bed, and by the visions of my head.
to naah zit kaom amang to ka sak, iihkhun pongah ka iih naah ka hnuk ih hmuen mah zithaih to ang paek.
6 And I gave orders for all the wise men of Babylon to come in before me so that they might make clear to me the sense of my dream.
To pongah amang leh hanah Babylon prae thungah kaom palungha kaminawk boih to kai khaeah hoih hanah lok ka paek.
7 Then the wonder-workers, the users of secret arts, the Chaldaeans, and the readers of signs came in to me: and I put the dream before them but they did not make clear the sense of it to me.
To naah miklet kop kaminawk, cakaeh khet kop kaminawk, khaldian kaminawk, banpadae khet kop kaminawk to kai khaeah ang zoh o; nihcae khaeah amang ka thuih pae, toe nihcae mah na leh pae o thai ai.
8 But at last Daniel came in before me, he whose name was Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and I put the dream before him, saying,
Toe hnukkhuem koekah loe, ka bok ih sithaw hmin hoi Belteshazzar, tiah kawk ih Daniel to ka hma ah angzoh, anih thungah kaciim sithawnawk ih muithla to oh; ka mang to anih khaeah ka thuih,
9 O Belteshazzar, master of the wonder-workers, because I am certain that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and you are troubled by no secret; this is the dream which I saw: make clear to me its sense.
Aw Belteshazzar, miklet kop kaminawk ukkung, nang thungah kaciim sithawnawk ih muithla to oh, nang hanah loe kawbaktih panoek ai ih hmuen doeh rai ai, tiah ka panoek pongah, amang ah ka hnuk ih hmuennawk thuikoehhaih to na leh paeh.
10 On my bed I saw a vision: there was a tree in the middle of the earth, and it was very high.
Ka iih naah ka hnuk ih hnuksakhaih loe, Ka khet naah, long um li ah kaom kasang parai thingkung maeto ka hnuk.
11 And the tree became tall and strong, stretching up to heaven, and to be seen from the ends of the earth:
To thingkung loe qoeng tahang moe, thacak; tadong loe van khoek to phak, to thingkung loe long pum hoiah amtueng:
12 Its leaves were fair and it had much fruit, and in it was food enough for all: the beasts of the field had shade under it, and the birds of heaven were resting in its branches, and it gave food to all living things.
aqamnawk loe hoih parai, athaih doeh pop phi moe, hmuennawk boih hanah buh ah oh; taw ih moi kasannawk loe to thingkung tlim ah abuep o, van ih tavaanawk doeh tanghangnawk nuiah acuk o, long ih moinawk mah doeh to thingthai to caak o.
13 In the visions of my head on my bed I saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven,
Ka iih naah ka hnuk ih hnuksakhaih loe, Ka khet naah, van hoi anghum tathuk toepkung, kami ciim maeto ka hnuk;
14 Crying out with a loud voice; and this is what he said: Let the tree be cut down and its branches broken off; let its leaves be taken off and its fruit sent in every direction: let the beasts get away from under it and the birds from its branches:
anih mah, Thing to pakhruh ah loe tanghangnawk to boeng ah, aqamnawk to tathlik ah loe athaihnawk to haeh phaeng ah; taw ih moi kasannawk athung hoiah tacawt o nasoe loe, tavaanawk doeh tanghangnawk nui hoiah angpoeng o nasoe:
15 But keep its broken end and its roots still in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass; let him have the young grass of the field for food, and let him be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his part be with the beasts.
toe takung hoi tangzunnawk loe long ah om o nasoe; sum, sum kamling qui hoiah kom ah, kathah phroh ohhaih ahmuen ah om nasoe; van ih dantui hoi sui nasoe loe, long ah amprawk phrohnawk salakah taw ih moisannawk hoi nawnto phroh to caa nasoe.
16 Let his heart be changed from that of a man, and the heart of a beast be given to him; and let seven times go by him.
Kami ih palungthin to athlaeng pae ving nasoe loe, a nuiah khotue vai sarihto laem ai karoek to, anih hanah moisan ih palungthin to paek nasoe.
17 This order is fixed by the watchers, and the decision is by the word of the holy ones: so that the living may be certain that the Most High is ruler over the kingdom of men, and gives it to any man at his pleasure, lifting up over it the lowest of men.
Kaminawk ih prae loe Kasang koek Sithaw mah ni uk, anih loe paek koeh ih kami khaeah a paek moe, poek kahnaem kaminawk hanah ukkhaih to a paek, tiah kahing kaminawk mah panoek thai hanah, toepkungnawk hoi kaciim kaminawk mah lokpaekhaih rang hoiah ni lok takroekhaih to sak o, tiah hangh.
18 This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw; and do you, O Belteshazzar, make clear the sense of it, for all the wise men of my kingdom are unable to make the sense of it clear to me; but you are able, for the spirit of the holy gods is in you.
To tiah kai, siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar mah amang to ka sak. Aw nang, Belteshazzar, a thuikoehhaih to vaihi na leh paeh; ka prae thung ih palungha kaminawk boih mah na leh pae o thai ai; toe kaciim sithawnawk ih muithla nang thungah oh pongah, nangmah loe nang leh pae thai tih, tiah a naa.
19 Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was at a loss for a time, his thoughts troubling him. The king made answer and said, Belteshazzar, do not be troubled by the dream or by the sense of it. Belteshazzar, answering, said, My lord, may the dream be about your haters, and its sense about those who are against you.
To naah Belteshazzar, tiah kawk ih Daniel loe nawnetta thung dawnrai hoiah oh sut. To pongah siangpahrang mah, Belteshazzar, amang mah maw, to tih ai boeh loe a thuih koehhaih ahlong mah maw, raihaih na paek hmah nasoe, tiah a naa. Belteshazzar mah, Ka angraeng, na mang loe nang hnuma kaminawk khaeah om nasoe loe, a thuih koehhaih doeh na misanawk nuiah pha nasoe!
20 The tree which you saw, which became tall and strong, stretching up to heaven and seen from the ends of the earth;
Na hnuk ih kaqoeng tahang thacakhaih hoiah kaom thing, tadong mah van to phak moe, long pum hoiah amtueng thing,
21 Which had fair leaves and much fruit, and had in it food for all; under which the beasts of the field were living, and in the branches of which the birds of heaven had their resting-places:
aqamnawk loe hoih o parai moe, athaih doeh pop parai, hmuennawk boih hanah buh ah kaom thing; to thingkung tlim ah taw ih moi kasannawk to abuep o moe, van ih tavaanawk mah tanghangnawk nuiah acuk ih thing loe,
22 It is you, O King, who have become great and strong: for your power is increased and stretching up to heaven, and your rule to the end of the earth.
nang ni, Aw siangpahrang, nang loe na len tahang moe, tha na cak; na lenhaih mah van to phak, na ukhaih loe long boenghaih khoek to phak.
23 And as for the vision which the king saw of a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven, saying, Let the tree be cut down and given to destruction;
Siangpahrang mah hnuk ih toepkung maeto hoi kaciim kami maeto mah, Thing to pakhruh ah loe, duehsak ah; toe akung hoi tangzunnawk loe long ah caehtaak ah, sum, sum kamling qui hoiah kom ah, phroh kathah ohhaih ahmuen ah om nasoe; van ih dantui hoiah sui nasoe loe, a nuiah khotue vai sarihto laem ai karoek to taw ih moi kasannawk hoi nawnto phroh to caa nasoe, tiah thuih ih;
24 This is the sense of it, O King, and it is the decision of the Most High which has come on my lord the king:
Aw siangpahrang, ka angraeng siangpahrang nuiah kapha, Kasang koek mah lok takroekhaih loe hae tiah oh:
25 That they will send you out from among men, to be with the beasts of the field; they will give you grass for your food like the oxen, and you will be wet with the dew of heaven, and seven times will go by you, till you are certain that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and gives it to any man at his pleasure.
nang loe kaminawk salak hoi haek ving ah om ueloe, taw ih moisannawk hoi nawnto na om tih; kaminawk ih prae loe Kasang koek Sithaw mah ni uk, anih loe paek koeh ih kami khaeah a paek, tiah na panoek ai karoek to, taw ih moisan baktiah phroh to na caa ueloe, na nuiah khotue vai sarihto laem ai karoek to van ih dantui hoiah na suisak tih.
26 And as they gave orders to let the broken end and the roots of the tree be, so your kingdom will be safe for you after it is clear to you that the heavens are ruling.
Thing akung hoi tangzunnawk to caehtaak ah, tiah thuih koehhaih ih lok loe, vannawk mah ni uk, tiah na panoek pacoengah, na ukhaih prae to nang khaeah caksak let tih.
27 For this cause, O King, let my suggestion be pleasing to you, and let your sins be covered by righteousness and your evil-doing by mercy to the poor, so that the time of your well-being may be longer.
To pongah Aw siangpahrang, ka thuih ih lok hae talawk ah loe, hmuen katoeng sakhaih hoiah na zaehaih hoi na sakpazae ih hmuennawk to toengh sut lai ah; amtang kaminawk to tahmen ah. To tiah nahaeloe na phuhnaephaih to om poe tih, tiah a naa.
28 All this came to King Nebuchadnezzar.
Hae hmuennawk loe siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar nuiah phak boih.
29 At the end of twelve months he was walking on the roof of his great house in Babylon.
Khrah hathlai hnetto oh pacoengah, anih loe Babylon siangpahrang ih imphu nuiah amkaeh.
30 The king made answer and said, Is this not great Babylon, which I have made for the living-place of kings, by the strength of my power and for the glory of my honour?
To naah siangpahrang mah, Hae lensawk Babylon loe siangpahrang ohhaih ahmuen ah oh moe, ka thacakhaih hoi ka lensawkhaih amtuengsak hanah, ka sak ih vangpui ah na ai maw oh? tiah amkoehhaih lok to a thuih.
31 While the word was still in the king's mouth, a voice came down from heaven, saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is said: The kingdom has gone from you:
To lok to pakha hoi a thuih li naah, van hoiah lok maeto angzoh tathuk, Aw siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar, nang han lok takroekhaih loe hae tiah oh; siangpahrang ih prae loe nang khae hoi tacawt ving boeh.
32 And they will send you out from among men, to be with the beasts of the field; they will give you grass for your food like the oxen, and seven times will go by you, till you are certain that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and gives it to any man at his pleasure.
Nang loe kaminawk salak hoiah haek ving ueloe, taw ih moisannawk hoi nawnto na om tih boeh; kaminawk ih prae loe Kasang koek Sithaw mah ni uk, anih loe paek koeh ih kami khaeah a paek, tiah na panoek ai karoek to taw ih moisan baktiah phroh to na caa ueloe, na nuiah atue vai sarihto laem tih, tiah a naa.
33 That very hour the order about Nebuchadnezzar was put into effect: and he was sent out from among men, and had grass for his food like the oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hair became long as eagles' feathers and his nails like those of birds.
To tiah thuih ih lok baktih toengah Nebuchadnezzar nuiah phak roep; anih loe kaminawk salak hoiah haek ah oh moe, maitaw baktiah phroh to caak; a sam loe tahmu pakhraeh mui baktiah tacawt moe, banpacin hoi khokpacin doeh tavaa khokpacin baktiah tacawt ai karoek to, van ih dantui mah a takpum to suisak.
34 And at the end of the days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifting up my eyes to heaven, got back my reason, and, blessing the Most High, I gave praise and honour to him who is living for ever, whose rule is an eternal rule and whose kingdom goes on from generation to generation.
Atue boeng naah, Kai, Nebuchadnezzar loe van bangah ka doeng tahang, panoekhaih to oh let, to naah Kasang koek to tahamhoihaih ka paek, dungzan khoek to kahing Sithaw to ka pakoeh. A ukhaih loe dungzan khoek to cak moe, a ukhaih prae doeh adung maeto hoi maeto khoek to cak:
35 And all the people of the earth are as nothing: he does his pleasure in the army of heaven and among the people of the earth: and no one is able to keep back his hand, or say to him, What are you doing?
long kaminawk boih loe anih hma ah tiah doeh athum ai; anih loe van misatuh kaminawk hoi long kaminawk nuiah a koeh baktiah sak; mi mah doeh a ban to pakaa pae thai ai, timaw na sak? tiah naa thai ai.
36 At the same time my reason came back to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my honour and my great name came back to me; and my wise men and my lords were turned to me again; and I was made safe in my kingdom and had more power than before.
To naah ka poekhaih to oh let, lensawk ka ukhaih prae, kang raenghaih hoi thacakhaih to kai khaeah amlaem let. Poekhaih paekkungnawk hoi kai ih angraengnawk mah ang pangh o let; ka ukhaih prae to ka caksak let, to naah kai loe canghni ih angraenghaih pongah doeh ka len aep.
37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, give worship and praise and honour to the King of heaven; for all his works are true and his ways are right: and those who go in pride he is able to make low.
Vaihi kai, Nebuchadnezzar loe van Siangpahrang to ka palawk moe, lensawkhaih hoiah ka pakoeh. A sak ih hmuennawk boih loe oepthoh, anih ih loklamnawk loe toeng; anih loe amoek kaminawk to atlim ah pakhrak thaih, tiah a thuih.
