2 Samuel 16
1 And when David had gone a little way past the top of the slope, Ziba, the servant of Mephibosheth, came to him, with two asses on which were two hundred cakes of bread and a hundred stems of dry grapes and a hundred summer fruits and a skin of wine.
Ora, quando Davide fu passato un poco di là dalla cima [del monte], ecco, Siba, servitore di Mefiboset, gli [venne] incontro con un paio d'asini carichi, sopra i quali [erano] dugento pani, e cento mazzuoli d'uve secche, e cento di [frutti dalla] state, ed un baril di vino.
2 And David said to Ziba, What is your reason for this? And Ziba said, The asses are for the use of the king's people, and the bread and the fruit are food for the young men; and the wine is for drink for those who are overcome by weariness in the waste land.
E il re disse a Siba: Che vuoi far di coteste cose? E Siba disse: Gli asini [son] per la famiglia del re, per cavalcarli; e il pane, e i [frutti dalla] state, [son] per li fanti, perchè mangino; e il vino [è] per quelli che saranno stanchi nel deserto, perchè bevano.
3 And the king said, And where is your master's son? And Ziba said, He is still at Jerusalem: for he said, Today Israel will give back to me the kingdom of my father.
E il re disse: E dove [è] il figliuolo del tuo signore? E Siba disse al re: Ecco, egli è dimorato in Gerusalemme; perciocchè egli ha detto: Oggi la casa d'Israele mi restituirà il reame di mio padre.
4 Then the king said to Ziba, Truly everything which was Mephibosheth's is yours. And Ziba said, I give honour to my lord, may I have grace in your eyes, my lord, O king!
E il re disse a Siba: Ecco, tutto quello ch'[era] di Mefiboset [è] tuo. E Siba disse: Io mi t'inchino, o re, mio signore; trovi io pur grazia appo te.
5 And when King David came to Bahurim, a man of Saul's family named Shimei, the son of Gera, came out from there, calling curses after him.
Ora, essendo il re Davide giunto a Bahurim, ecco, un uomo della famiglia di Saulle, il cui nome [era] Simi, figliuolo di Ghera, uscì di là, e andava maledicendo Davide.
6 And he sent stones at David and at all the king's servants and at all the people and at all the men of war by his side, on the right hand and on the left.
E tirava delle pietre contro al re Davide, e contro a tutti i suoi servitori; benchè egli avesse a destra ed a sinistra tutta la gente, e tutti gli uomini di valore.
7 And Shimei said, with curses, Be gone, be gone, you man of blood, you good-for-nothing:
E Simi diceva così, maledicendolo: Esci, esci pur fuori, uomo di sangue, ed uomo scellerato;
8 The Lord has sent punishment on you for all the blood of the family of Saul, whose kingdom you have taken; and the Lord has given the kingdom to Absalom, your son: now you yourself are taken in your evil, because you are a man of blood.
il Signore ti ha fatto ritornare addosso tutto il sangue della casa di Saulle, in luogo del quale tu hai regnato; e il Signore ha dato il regno in mano ad Absalom, tuo figliuolo; ed eccoti nel tuo male; perciocchè tu sei un uomo di sangue.
9 Then Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, said to the king, Is this dead dog to go on cursing my lord the king? let me go over and take off his head.
E Abisai, figliuolo di Seruia, disse al re: Perchè maledice questo can morto il re, mio signore? deh! [lascia] che io vada, e gli tolga il capo.
10 And the king said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? Let him go on cursing, for the Lord has said, Put a curse on David, and who then may say, Why have you done so?
Ma il re rispose: Che ho io da far con voi, figliuoli di Seruia? Maledica pure; e, se il Signore gli ha detto: Maledici Davide, chi dirà: Perchè hai tu fatto così?
11 And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, You see how my son, the offspring of my body, has made designs against my life: how much more then may this Benjamite do so? Let him be, and let him go on cursing; for the Lord has given him orders.
Davide, oltre a ciò, disse ad Abisai, e a tutti i suoi servitori: Ecco, il mio figliuolo, ch'è uscito delle mie interiora, cerca [di tor]mi la vita; quanto più ora [lo può fare] un Beniaminita? lasciatelo, ch'egli maledica pure; perciocchè il Signore glielo ha detto.
12 It may be that the Lord will take note of my wrongs, and give me back good in answer to his cursing of me today.
Forse il Signore riguarderà alla mia afflizione, e mi renderà del bene, in luogo della maledizione, della quale costui oggi mi maledice.
13 So David and his men went on their way: and Shimei went by the hillside parallel with them, cursing and sending stones and dust at him.
Davide adunque, con la sua gente, camminava per la via, e Simi andava allato al monte, dirimpetto a lui, maledicendo del continuo, e tirandogli pietre, e levando la polvere.
14 And the king and his people came tired to Jordan, and took their rest there.
Ora il re, e tutta la gente ch'[era] con lui, giunsero [là] tutti stanchi; e quivi presero lena.
15 And Absalom and the men of Israel came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel was with him.
ED Absalom, con tutto il popolo, i principali d'Israele, entrò in Gerusalemme; ed Ahitofel con lui.
16 Then Hushai the Archite, David's friend, came to Absalom and said, Long life to the king, long life to the king!
E quando Husai Archita, famigliare amico di Davide, fu venuto ad Absalom, gli disse: Viva il re, viva il re.
17 And Absalom said, Is this your love for your friend? why did you not go with your friend?
Ed Absalom disse ad Husai: [È] questa la tua benignità inverso il tuo famigliare amico? perchè non sei andato con lui?
18 And Hushai said to Absalom, Not so; I am for that man whom the Lord and this people and all the men of Israel have taken as king, and I will take my place with him.
Ed Husai disse ad Absalom: No; anzi io sarò di colui, il quale il Signore, e questo popolo, e tutti i principali d'Israele, hanno eletto; e dimorerò con lui.
19 And more than this! where is my place as a servant? is it not before his son? as I have been your father's servant, so will I be yours.
E secondamente, a cui servirò io? non servirò io al figliuolo di esso? Come io sono stato al servigio di tuo padre, così anche sarò al tuo.
20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, Give your opinion now, what are we to do?
Allora Absalom disse ad Ahitofel: Consigliate ciò che abbiamo a fare.
21 And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to your father's women who are here looking after his house; then all Israel will have the news that you are hated by your father, and the hands of your supporters will be strong.
Ed Ahitofel disse ad Absalom: Entra dalle concubine di tuo padre, le quali egli ha lasciate a guardia della casa; acciocchè tutto Israele intenda che tu ti sei renduto abbominevole a tuo padre; e così le mani di tutti coloro che [sono] teco saranno rinforzate.
22 So they put up the tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father's women before the eyes of all Israel.
E fu teso ad Absalom un padiglione in sul tetto; ed Absalom entrò dalle concubine di suo padre, davanti agli occhi di tutto Israele.
23 In those days the opinions of Ahithophel were valued as highly as if through him a man might get direction from God; so were they valued by David as much as by Absalom.
E in que' giorni il consiglio che Ahitofel dava [era stimato] come se si fosse domandato l'oracolo di Dio; di tanta stima [era] ogni consiglio di Ahitofel, così appresso Davide, come appresso Absalom.
