< 2 Chronicles 22 >

1 And the people of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his place, for the band of men who came with the Arabians to the army had put all the older sons to death. So Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, became king.
Pea naʻe fakanofo ʻe he kakai ʻo Selūsalema ʻa ʻAhasia ko hono foha ki mui ke tuʻi ko hono fetongi: he ko e kau tangata naʻe haʻu mo e kau ʻAlepea ki he ʻapitanga naʻa nau tāmateʻi ʻae ngaahi taʻokete kotoa pē. Ko ia, naʻe pule ʻa ʻAhasia ko e foha ʻo Siholami ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta.
2 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he was ruling in Jerusalem for one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri.
Naʻe uofulu ma ua taʻu ʻae motuʻa ʻo ʻAhasia ʻi heʻene hoko ʻo pule, pea naʻa ne pule ʻi he taʻu pe taha ʻi Selūsalema. Ko e hingoa ʻo ʻene faʻē ko ʻAtalia ko e ʻofefine ʻo Omili.
3 He went in the ways of the family of Ahab, for his mother was his teacher in evil-doing.
Pea naʻe ʻalu ia ʻi he ngaahi hala ʻoe fale ʻo ʻEhapi: he naʻe akonakiʻi ia ʻe heʻene faʻē ke fai angakovi.
4 And he did evil in the eyes of the Lord, as the family of Ahab did; for after the death of his father they were his guides to his destruction.
Ko ia naʻa ne fai angakovi ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ʻo hangē ko e fale ʻo ʻEhapi: he ko ʻene kau akonaki ʻakinautolu hili ʻae mate ʻa ʻene tamai, ke malaʻia ai ia.
5 Acting on their suggestion, he went with Jehoram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, to make war on Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead: and Joram was wounded by the bowmen.
Pea naʻe ʻalu ia foki ʻo muimui ki heʻenau fakakaukau, pea ʻalu ia mo Siholami ko e foha ʻo ʻEhapi ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsileli ki he tau ke tauʻi ʻa Hasaeli ko e tuʻi ʻo Silia ki Lemoti-Kiliati: pea naʻe fakakafo ʻa Solami ʻe he kakai Silia.
6 And he went back to Jezreel to get well from the wounds which they had given him at Ramah when he was fighting against Hazael, king of Aram. And Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to see Jehoram, the son of Ahab, because he was ill.
Pea naʻe liliu mai ia ki Sesilili ke faitoʻo ki hono ngaahi kafo ʻaia naʻa ne lavea ai ʻi Lama ʻi heʻene tauʻi ʻa Hasaeli ko e tuʻi ʻo Silia. Pea naʻe ʻalu hifo ki Sesilili ʻa ʻAsalia ko e foha ʻo Siholami ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta ke vakai ʻa Siholami ko e foha ʻo ʻEhapi koeʻuhi naʻe mahaki ia.
7 Now by the purpose of God, Ahaziah's journey to see Jehoram was the cause of his downfall: for when he came there, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu, the son of Nimshi, who had been marked out by the Lord for the destruction of the family of Ahab.
Pea ko e fakamalaʻia ʻo ʻAhasia naʻe mei he ʻOtua ʻi [heʻene ]hoko kia Solami: koeʻuhi ʻi heʻene hoko ange, naʻe ʻalu kituaʻā ia fakataha mo Siholami ke tauʻi ʻa Sehu ko e foha ʻo Nimisi, ʻaia naʻe pani ʻaki ʻae lolo ʻe Sihova ke ne motuhi ʻae fale ʻo ʻEhapi.
8 Now when Jehu was effecting the punishment of the family of Ahab, he came to the princes of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's brothers, the servants of Ahaziah, and put them to death.
9 And he went in search of Ahaziah; and when they came where he was, (for he was in a secret place in Samaria, ) they took him to Jehu and put him to death; then they put his body to rest in the earth, for they said, He is the son of Jehoshaphat, whose heart was true to the Lord. So the family of Ahaziah had no power to keep the kingdom.
Pea naʻa ne kumi ʻa ʻAhasia: pea naʻa nau puke ia, (he naʻe fufū ia ʻi Samēlia) ʻo ʻomi ia kia Sehu: pea hili ʻenau tāmateʻi ia, naʻa nau tanu ia: he naʻa nau pehē, Ko e foha ia ʻo Sihosafate, ʻaia naʻe kumi kia Sihova ʻaki hono loto kotoa. Ko ia naʻe ʻikai ha mālohi ʻi he fale ʻo ʻEhapi, ke puke maʻu ʻae puleʻanga.
10 Now when Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she had all the rest of the seed of the kingdom of Judah put to death.
Pea ʻi he vakai ʻe ʻAtalia ko e faʻē ʻa ʻAhasia kuo mate ʻene tama, naʻe tuʻu hake ia ʻo ne tāmateʻi ʻae hako kotoa pē ʻoe hau ʻi he fale ʻo Siuta.
11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, secretly took Joash, the son of Ahaziah, away from among the king's sons who were put to death, and put him and the woman who took care of him in a bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest and sister of Ahaziah, kept him safe from Athaliah, so that she did not put him to death.
Ka ko Sihosapeati ko e ʻofefine ʻoe tuʻi, naʻa ne toʻo ʻa Soasi ko e foha ʻo ʻAhasia, ʻo ne kaihaʻasi ia mei he ngaahi foha ʻoe tuʻi ʻaia naʻe tāmateʻi, pea tuku ia mo ʻene fefine tauhi ʻi ha fale mohe. Ko ia naʻe fufū ia ʻe Sihosapeati ko e ʻofefine ʻoe tuʻi, ko e uaifi ʻo Sihoiata ko e taulaʻeiki, (he ko e tuofefine ia ʻo ʻAhasia, ) meia ʻAtalia, ko ia naʻe ʻikai te ne tāmateʻi ia.
12 And she kept him safe with her in the house of God for six years, while Athaliah was ruling the land.
Pea naʻe ʻiate kinautolu ia ʻo fufū ʻi he fale ʻoe ʻOtua ʻi he taʻu ʻe ono: pea naʻe pule ʻa ʻAtalia ki he fonua.
