1 Samuel 16
1 And the Lord said to Samuel, How long will you go on sorrowing for Saul, seeing that I have put him from his place as king over Israel? Take oil in your vessel and go; I will send you to Jesse, the Beth-lehemite: for I have got a king for myself among his sons.
யெகோவா சாமுயேலிடம், “இஸ்ரயேலர்மேல் அரசனாயிராதபடி நான் புறக்கணித்த சவுலுக்காக நீ எவ்வளவு காலம் துக்கப்படுவாய். கொம்பில் எண்ணெய் நிரப்பிக்கொண்டு புறப்பட்டு வா. நான் உன்னைப் பெத்லெகேமியனான ஈசாயிடம் அனுப்பப்போகிறேன். அவனுடைய மகன்களில் ஒருவனை அரசனாக நான் தெரிவுசெய்திருக்கிறேன்” என்றார்.
2 And Samuel said, How is it possible for me to go? If Saul gets news of it he will put me to death. And the Lord said, Take a young cow with you and say, I have come to make an offering to the Lord.
அதற்கு சாமுயேல், “நான் எப்படிப்போவேன்? சவுல் இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டால் என்னைக் கொன்றுவிடுவானே?” என்றான். அதற்கு யெகோவா, “நான் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பலியிட வந்தேன் என்று சொல்லி இளம்பசுவை ஒன்றை உன்னுடன் கொண்டுபோ.
3 And send for Jesse to be present at the offering, and I will make clear to you what you are to do: and you are to put the holy oil on him whose name I give you.
அவ்வாறு பலி செலுத்தும்போது நீ ஈசாவுக்கு அழைப்பு கொடு. அப்பொழுது நீ செய்யவேண்டியதை உனக்கு நான் காண்பிப்பேன். நான் குறிப்பிடுபவனை நீ அபிஷேகம் செய்யவேண்டும்” என்றார்.
4 And Samuel did as the Lord said and came to Beth-lehem. And the responsible men of the town came out to him in fear and said, Do you come in peace?
யெகோவா சொன்னபடியே சாமுயேல் செய்தான். பின்பு சாமுயேல் பெத்லெகேமுக்கு வந்தபோது அப்பட்டணத்தின் முதியவர்கள் நடுக்கத்துடன் அவனைச் சந்திக்க வந்தார்கள். “நீர் சமாதானத்துடன் தான் வருகிறீரா?” என்று அவர்கள் கேட்டார்கள்.
5 And he said, In peace: I have come to make an offering to the Lord: make yourselves clean and come with me to make the offering. And he made Jesse and his sons clean, and sent for them to be present at the offering.
அதற்குச் சாமுயேல், “ஆம் சமாதானத்துடன் தான் வந்திருக்கிறேன். நான் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பலிசெலுத்த வந்திருக்கிறேன். நீங்களும் உங்களைப் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்திக் கொண்டு என்னுடன் பலிசெலுத்த வாருங்கள்” என்றான். பின்பு ஈசாயையும் அவன் மகன்களையும் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்தி அவர்களையும் பலிக்கு அழைத்தான்.
6 Now when they came, looking at Eliab, he said, Clearly the man of the Lord's selection is before him.
அவர்கள் அங்கே வந்தபோது, சாமுயேல் எலியாபைக் கண்டவுடன், “உண்மையாகவே யெகோவாவினால் அபிஷேகம் செய்யப்பட்டவன் என்முன் நிற்கிறான்” என நினைத்தான்.
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not take note of his face or how tall he is, because I will not have him: for the Lord's view is not man's; man takes note of the outer form, but the Lord sees the heart.
ஆனால் யெகோவா சாமுயேலிடம், “இவனுடைய தோற்றத்தையும், உயரத்தையும் கருத்தில் கொள்ள வேண்டாம். நான் இவனைப் புறக்கணித்து விட்டேன். ஏனெனில் மனிதர் பார்ப்பதைப் போல் யெகோவா பார்ப்பதில்லை. மனிதன் வெளித்தோற்றத்தைப் பார்ப்பான். யெகோவாவோ இருதயத்தைப் பார்க்கிறார்” என்று சொன்னார்.
8 Then Jesse sent for Abinadab and made him come before Samuel. And he said, The Lord has not taken this one.
அப்பொழுது ஈசாய் அபினதாபை அழைத்துச் சாமுயேலுக்கு முன்னால் போகச்செய்தான். சாமுயேலோ, “யெகோவா இவனைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை” என்றான்.
9 Then Jesse made Shammah come before him. And he said, The Lord has not taken this one.
அப்பொழுது ஈசாய் சம்மாவைச் சாமுயேல் முன்னால் போகும்படி செய்தான். “இவனையும் யெகோவா தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை” என்று சாமுயேல் சொன்னான்.
10 And Jesse made his seven sons come before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, The Lord has not taken any of these.
இவ்வாறு ஈசாய் தன் ஏழு மகன்களையும் சாமுயேல் முன் கொண்டுவந்தான். ஆனால், “இவர்களை யெகோவா தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை” என்று சாமுயேல் சொன்னான்.
11 Then Samuel said to Jesse, Are all your children here? And he said, There is still the youngest, and he is looking after the sheep. And Samuel said to Jesse, Send and make him come here: for we will not take our seats till he is here.
மேலும் சாமுயேல் ஈசாயிடம், “உன்னுடைய மகன்கள் இவர்கள் மட்டும்தானா?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன், “இன்னும் எல்லோருக்கும் இளையமகன் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான். அவன் இப்பொழுது செம்மறியாடுகளை மேய்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறான்” என்றான். அப்பொழுது சாமுயேல் ஈசாயிடம், “அவனை அழைத்துவர ஆளனுப்பு. அவன் இங்கு வருமட்டும் நாம் பந்தியிருக்க மாட்டோம்” என்றான்.
12 So he sent and made him come in. Now he had red hair and beautiful eyes and pleasing looks. And the Lord said, Come, put the oil on him, for this is he.
எனவே ஈசாய் ஆளனுப்பி அவனை வரவழைத்தான். அவன் சிவந்த உடலும், அழகிய முகமும், வசீகரத் தோற்றமும் உடையவனாயிருந்தான். அப்பொழுது யெகோவா சாமுயேலிடம், “நான் சொன்னவன் இவன்தான். நீ எழுந்து இவனை அபிஷேகம் செய்” என்றார்.
13 Then Samuel took the bottle of oil, and put the oil on him there among his brothers: and from that day the spirit of the Lord came on David with power. So Samuel went back to Ramah.
உடனே சாமுயேல் எண்ணெய்க் கொம்பை எடுத்து அவன் சகோதரர் முன்னிலையில் அவனை அபிஷேகம் பண்ணினான். அந்த நாள் தொடக்கம் யெகோவாவின் ஆவியானவர் தாவீதின்மேல் வல்லமையுடன் இறங்கியிருந்தார். அதன்பின் சாமுயேல் எழுந்து ராமாவுக்கு திரும்பிப்போனான்.
14 Now the spirit of the Lord had gone from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord was troubling him.
யெகோவாவின் ஆவியானவர் சவுலை விட்டு நீங்கிப்போனார். யெகோவாவினால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட ஒரு பொல்லாத ஆவி அவனை வதைத்தது.
15 And Saul's servants said to him, See now, an evil spirit from God is troubling you.
சவுலின் ஏவலாட்கள் அவனிடம், “இறைவன் அனுப்பிய ஒரு பொல்லாத ஆவி உம்மைத் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறது.
16 Now give orders to your servants who are here before you to go in search of a man who is an expert player on a corded instrument: and it will be that when the evil spirit from God is on you, he will make music for you on his instrument, and you will get well.
யாழ் வாசிக்கக்கூடிய ஒருவனைத் தேடிக் கொண்டுவரும்படி உமது வேலையாட்களிடம் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையிடட்டும். இறைவனால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட பொல்லாத ஆவி உம்மேல் வரும்போது அவன் தன் கையால் யாழை வாசித்தால் நீர் சுகமடையலாம்” என்று சொன்னார்கள்.
17 And Saul said to his servants, Then get me a man who is an expert player, and make him come to me.
சவுல் தன் வேலையாட்களிடம், “நீங்கள் போய் நன்றாய் யாழ் வாசிக்கும் ஒருவனைத் தேடி என்னிடம் கொண்டுவாருங்கள்” என்றான்.
18 Then one of the servants in answer said, I have seen a son of Jesse, the Beth-lehemite, who is expert at playing, and a strong man and a man of war; and he is wise in his words, and pleasing in looks, and the Lord is with him.
அப்பொழுது வேலையாட்களில் ஒருவன், “பெத்லெகேமியனான ஈசாயின் மகன் ஒருவனை நான் கண்டிருக்கிறேன். அவன் யாழ் வாசிப்பதில் சிறந்தவன். அவன் வலிமைமிக்க போர்வீரன்; பேச்சில் சமர்த்தன். வசீகர தோற்றமுடையவன். யெகோவா அவனோடுகூட இருக்கிறார்” என்றான்.
19 So Saul sent his servants to Jesse and said, Send me your son David who is with the sheep.
எனவே சவுல் ஈசாயிடம் தூதுவரை அனுப்பி, “செம்மறியாடுகளை மேய்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் உன் மகன் தாவீதை என்னிடம் அனுப்பு” என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.
20 And Jesse took five cakes of bread and a skin of wine and a young goat and sent them to Saul by David.
அப்பொழுது ஈசாய் அப்பங்களையும், ஒரு தோற்குடுவையில் திராட்சை இரசத்தையும், ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக் குட்டியையும், ஒரு கழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றி தாவீதின் மூலமாய்ச் சவுலுக்கு அனுப்பினான்.
21 And David came to Saul, waiting before him: and he became very dear to Saul, who made him his servant, giving him the care of his arms.
அவ்வாறே தாவீது சவுலிடம் வந்து அவனுடைய வேலையில் சேர்ந்தான். சவுல் அவனை அதிகம் விரும்பினான். தாவீது அவனுடைய ஆயுதம் சுமப்பவர்களில் ஒருவனானான்.
22 And Saul sent to Jesse saying, Let David be with me, for he is pleasing to me.
சவுல் ஈசாயிடம் ஆளனுப்பி, “தாவீதை நான் விரும்புகிறேன். அதனால் அவன் என் பணியில் இருக்கும்படி அவனை அனுமதி” என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினான்.
23 And whenever the evil spirit from God came on Saul, David took his instrument and made music: so new life came to Saul, and he got well, and the evil spirit went away from him.
அதன்பின் இறைவனால் அனுப்பப்படும் பொல்லாத ஆவி சவுலின்மேல் வரும்போதெல்லாம் தாவீது தன் யாழை வாசிப்பான். அப்போது சவுலுக்கு விடுதலை கிடைக்கும். அவன் சுகமடைவான். அந்த பொல்லாத ஆவி அவனைவிட்டு நீங்கிவிடும்.
