1 Kings 19
1 Ahab gave Jezebel news of all Elijah had done, and how he had put all the prophets to death with the sword.
௧எலியா செய்த எல்லாவற்றையும், அவன் தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் எல்லோரையும் பட்டயத்தாலே கொன்றுபோட்ட செய்தி அனைத்தையும், ஆகாப் யேசபேலுக்கு அறிவித்தான்.
2 Then Jezebel sent a servant to Elijah, saying, May the gods' punishment be on me if I do not make your life like the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.
௨அப்பொழுது யேசபேல் எலியாவிடம் ஆள் அனுப்பி: அவர்களிலே ஒவ்வொருவனுடைய உயிருக்கும் செய்யப்பட்டதுபோல, நான் நாளை இந்த நேரத்தில் உன்னுடைய உயிருக்குச் செய்யாமற்போனால், தெய்வங்கள் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர்கள் என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னாள்.
3 And he got up, fearing for his life, and went in flight, and came to Beer-sheba in Judah, parting there from his servant;
௩அவனுக்கு அது தெரிந்தபோது எழுந்து, தன்னுடைய உயிரைக் காப்பாற்ற யூதாவைச்சேர்ந்த பெயெர்செபாவுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரனை அங்கே நிறுத்திவிட்டான்.
4 While he himself went a day's journey into the waste land, and took a seat under a broom-plant, desiring for himself only death; for he said, It is enough: now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.
௪அவன் வனாந்திரத்தில் ஒருநாள் பயணம் போய், ஒரு சூரைச்செடியின் கீழ் உட்கார்ந்து, தான் சாகவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லி: போதும் யெகோவாவே, என்னுடைய ஆத்துமாவை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்; நான் என்னுடைய முன்னோர்களைவிட நல்லவன் இல்லை என்று சொல்லி,
5 And stretching himself on the earth, he went to sleep under the broom-plant; but an angel, touching him, said to him, Get up and have some food.
௫ஒரு சூரைச்செடியின்கீழேப் படுத்துத் தூங்கினான்; அப்பொழுது ஒரு தூதன் அவனைத் தட்டி எழுப்பி: எழுந்து சாப்பிடு என்றான்.
6 And looking up, he saw by his head a cake cooked on the stones and a bottle of water. So he took food and drink and went to sleep again.
௬அவன் விழித்துப் பார்த்தபோது, இதோ, நெருப்பில் சுடப்பட்ட அப்பமும், ஒரு பாத்திரத்தில் தண்ணீரும் அவனுடைய தலைமாட்டில் இருந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவன், சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்துத் திரும்பவும் படுத்துக்கொண்டான்.
7 And the angel of the Lord came again a second time, and touching him said, Get up and have some food, or the journey will be overmuch for your strength.
௭யெகோவாவுடைய தூதன் திரும்ப இரண்டாவதுமுறையும் வந்து அவனைத் தட்டியெழுப்பி: எழுந்து சாப்பிடு; நீ போகவேண்டிய பயணம் வெகுதூரம் என்றான்.
8 So he got up and took food and drink, and in the strength of that food he went on for forty days and nights, to Horeb, the mountain of God.
௮அப்பொழுது அவன் எழுந்து சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்து, அந்த உணவின் பெலத்தினால் 40 நாட்கள் இரவும் பகலும் ஓரேப் என்னும் தேவனுடைய மலைவரையும் நடந்துபோனான்.
9 And there he went into a hole in the rock for the night; then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, What are you doing here, Elijah?
௯அங்கே அவன் ஒரு குகைக்குள் போய்த் தங்கினான்; இதோ, யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு உண்டாகி, அவர்: எலியாவே, இங்கே நீ என்ன செய்கிறாய் என்றார்.
10 And he said, I have been burning for the honour of the Lord, the God of armies; for the children of Israel have not kept your agreement; they have made destruction of your altars, and have put your prophets to death with the sword: till I, even I, am the only one living; and now they are attempting to take away my life.
௧0அதற்கு அவன்: சேனைகளின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாக்காக மிகவும் பக்திவைராக்கியமாக இருந்தேன்; இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் உமது உடன்படிக்கையைத் தள்ளிவிட்டார்கள்; உம்முடைய பலிபீடங்களை இடித்து, உம்முடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைப் பட்டயத்தினால் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்; நான் ஒருவன் மட்டும் மீதியாக இருக்கிறேன்; என்னுடைய உயிரையும் எடுக்கத் தேடுகிறார்கள் என்றான்.
11 Then he said, Go out and take your place on the mountain before the Lord. Then the Lord went by, and mountains were parted by the force of a great wind, and rocks were broken before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind there was an earth-shock, but the Lord was not in the earth-shock.
௧௧அப்பொழுது அவர்: நீ வெளியே வந்து யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக மலையின்மேல் நில் என்றார்; அப்பொழுது, இதோ, யெகோவா கடந்துபோனார்; யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாகப் மலைகளைப் பிளக்கிறதும் பாறைகளை உடைக்கிறதுமான பலத்த பெருங்காற்று உண்டானது; ஆனாலும் அந்தக் காற்றிலே யெகோவா இருக்கவில்லை; காற்றுக்குப்பின்பு பூமி அதிர்ச்சி உண்டானது; பூமி அதிர்ச்சியிலும் யெகோவா இருக்கவில்லை.
12 And after the earth-shock a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire, the sound of a soft breath.
௧௨பூமி அதிர்ச்சிக்குப் பின்பு அக்கினி உண்டானது; அக்கினியிலும் யெகோவா இருக்கவில்லை; அக்கினிக்குப்பின்பு அமைதியான மெல்லிய சத்தம் உண்டானது.
13 And Elijah, hearing it, went out, covering his face with his robe, and took his place in the opening of the hole. And there a voice came to him saying, What are you doing here, Elijah?
௧௩அதை எலியா கேட்டபோது, தன்னுடைய சால்வையால் தன்னுடைய முகத்தை மூடிக்கொண்டு வெளியே வந்து, குகையின் வாசலில் நின்றான். அப்பொழுது, இதோ, எலியாவே, இங்கே நீ என்ன செய்கிறாய் என்கிற சத்தம் அவனுக்கு உண்டானது.
14 And he said, I have been burning for the honour of the Lord, the God of armies; for the children of Israel have not kept your agreement; they have had your altars broken down, and have put your prophets to death with the sword: till I, even I, am the only one living; and now they are attempting to take away my life.
௧௪அதற்கு அவன்: சேனைகளின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்காக மிகவும் பக்திவைராக்கியமாக இருந்தேன்; இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் உமது உடன்படிக்கையைத் தள்ளிவிட்டார்கள்; உம்முடைய பலிபீடங்களை இடித்து, உம்முடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைப் பட்டயத்தால் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள், நான் ஒருவன் மட்டும் மீதியாக இருக்கிறேன்; என்னுடைய உயிரையும் எடுக்கத் தேடுகிறார்கள் என்றான்.
15 And the Lord said to him, Go back on your way through the waste land to Damascus; and when you come there, put the holy oil on Hazael to make him king over Aram;
௧௫அப்பொழுது யெகோவா அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ தமஸ்குவின் வழியாக வனாந்திரத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், ஆசகேலைச் சீரியாவின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்செய்து,
16 And on Jehu, son of Nimshi, making him king over Israel; and on Elisha, the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah, to be prophet in your place.
௧௬பின்பு நிம்சியின் மகனாகிய யெகூவை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்செய்து, ஆபேல் மெகொலா ஊரானான சாப்பாத்தின் மகனாகிய எலிசாவை உன்னுடைய இடத்திலே தீர்க்கதரிசியாக அபிஷேகம்செய்.
17 And it will come about that the man who gets away safe from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will put to death; and whoever gets away safe from the sword of Jehu, Elisha will put to death.
௧௭சம்பவிப்பதாவது: ஆசகேலின் பட்டயத்திற்குத் தப்பினவனை யெகூ கொன்றுபோடுவான்; யெகூவின் பட்டயத்திற்குத் தப்பினவனை எலிசா கொன்றுபோடுவான்.
18 But I will keep safe seven thousand in Israel, all those whose knees have not been bent to Baal, and whose mouths have given him no kisses.
௧௮ஆனாலும் பாகாலுக்கு முடங்காதிருக்கிற முழங்கால்களையும், அவனை முத்தம்செய்யாமலிருக்கிற வாய்களையும் உடைய ஏழாயிரம்பேரை இஸ்ரவேலிலே மீதியாக வைத்திருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.
19 So he went away from there and came across Elisha, the son of Shaphat, ploughing with twelve yoke of oxen, he himself walking with the twelfth; and Elijah went up to him and put his robe on him.
௧௯அப்படியே அவன் அந்த இடத்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், பன்னிரண்டு ஏர்களைப்பூட்டி உழுத சாப்பாத்தின் மகனாகிய எலிசாவைக் கண்டான்; அவன் 12 ஆம் ஏரை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; எலியா அவன் இருக்கும் இடம்வரை போய், அவன்மேல் தன்னுடைய சால்வையைப் போட்டான்.
20 And letting the oxen be where they were, he came running after Elijah, and said, Only let me give a kiss to my father and mother, and then I will come after you. But he said to him, Go back again; for what have I done to you?
௨0அப்பொழுது அவன் மாடுகளைவிட்டு, எலியாவின் பின்னே ஓடி: நான் என்னுடைய தகப்பனையும் என்னுடைய தாயையும் முத்தம்செய்ய உத்திரவு கொடும், அதற்குப்பின்பு உம்மைப் பின்தொடர்வேன் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: போய்த் திரும்பிவா; நான் உனக்குச் செய்ததை நினைத்துக்கொள் என்றான்.
21 And he went back, and took the oxen and put them to death, and cooking their flesh with the yokes of the oxen, he gave the people a feast. Then he got up and went after Elijah and became his servant.
௨௧அப்பொழுது அவன் இவனை விட்டுப் போய், ஒரு ஏர் மாடுகளைப் பிடித்து அடித்து, ஏரின் மரங்களால் அவைகளின் இறைச்சியைச் சமைத்து மக்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டபிறகு, அவன் எழுந்து, எலியாவுக்குப் பின்னேசென்று அவனுக்கு பணிவிடைசெய்தான்.
