1 Kings 17
1 And Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, By the living Lord, the God of Israel, whose servant I am, there will be no dew or rain in these years, but only at my word.
Então Elias, o tesbita, dos moradores de Gilead, disse a Achab: Vive o Senhor, Deus de Israel, perante cuja face estou, que n'estes annos nem orvalho nem chuva haverá, senão segundo a minha palavra.
2 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
Depois veiu a elle a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:
3 Go from here in the direction of the east, and keep yourself in a secret place by the stream Cherith, east of Jordan.
Vae-te d'aqui, e vira-te para o oriente, e esconde-te junto ao ribeiro de Carith, que está diante do Jordão.
4 The water of the stream will be your drink, and by my orders the ravens will give you food there.
E ha de ser que beberás do ribeiro: e eu tenho ordenado aos corvos que ali te sustentem.
5 So he went and did as the Lord said, living by the stream Cherith, east of Jordan.
Foi pois, e fez conforme á palavra do Senhor: porque foi, e habitou junto ao ribeiro de Carith, que está diante do Jordão.
6 And the ravens took him bread in the morning and meat in the evening; and the water of the stream was his drink.
E os corvos lhe traziam pão e carne pela manhã; como tambem pão e carne á noite: e bebia do ribeiro.
7 Now after a time the stream became dry, because there was no rain in the land.
E succedeu que, passados dias, o ribeiro se seccou; porque não tinha havido chuva na terra.
8 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
Então veiu a elle a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:
9 Up! go now to Zarephath, in Zidon, and make your living-place there; I have given orders to a widow woman there to see that you have food.
Levanta-te, e vae-te a Sarepta, que é de Zidon, e habita ali: eis que eu ordenei ali a uma mulher viuva que te sustente.
10 So he got up and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the door of the town, he saw a widow woman getting sticks together; and crying out to her he said, Will you give me a little water in a vessel for my drink?
Então elle se levantou, e se foi a Sarepta; e, chegando á porta da cidade, eis que estava ali uma mulher viuva apanhando lenha; e elle a chamou, e lhe disse: Traze-me, peço-te, n'um vaso um pouco d'agua que beba,
11 And when she was going to get it, he said to her, And get me with it a small bit of bread.
E, indo ella a trazel-a, elle a chamou e lhe disse: Traze-me agora tambem um bocado de pão na tua mão.
12 Then she said, By the life of the Lord your God, I have nothing but a little meal in my store, and a drop of oil in the bottle; and now I am getting two sticks together so that I may go in and make it ready for me and my son, so that we may have a meal before our death.
Porém ella disse: Vive o Senhor teu Deus, que nem um bolo tenho, senão sómente um punhado de farinha n'uma panella, e um pouco d'azeite n'uma botija: e vês aqui apanhei dois cavacos, e vou preparal-o para mim e para o meu filho, para que o comamos, e morramos.
13 And Elijah said to her, Have no fear; go and do as you have said, but first make me a little cake of it and come and give it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.
E Elias lhe disse: Não temas; vae, faze conforme á tua palavra: porém faze d'elle primeiro para mim um bolo pequeno, e traze-m'o para fóra; depois farás para ti e para teu filho.
14 For this is the word of the Lord, the God of Israel: The store of meal will not come to an end, and the bottle will never be without oil, till the day when the Lord sends rain on the earth.
Porque assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: A farinha da panella não se acabará, e o azeite da botija não faltará, até ao dia em que o Senhor dê chuva sobre a terra
15 So she went and did as Elijah said; and she and he and her family had food for a long time.
E foi ella, e fez conforme á palavra de Elias: e assim comeu ella, e elle, e a sua casa muitos dias.
16 The store of meal did not come to an end, and the bottle was never without oil, as the Lord had said by the mouth of Elijah.
Da panella a farinha se não acabou, e da botija o azeite não faltou: conforme á palavra do Senhor, que fallara pelo ministerio de Elias.
17 Now after this, the son of the woman of the house became ill, so ill that there was no breath in him.
E depois d'estas coisas succedeu que adoeceu o filho d'esta mulher, da dona da casa: e a sua doença se aggravou muito, até que n'elle nenhum folego ficou.
18 And she said to Elijah, What have I to do with you, O man of God? have you come to put God in mind of my sin, and to put my son to death?
Então ella disse a Elias: Que tenho eu comtigo, homem de Deus? vieste tu a mim cara trazeres á memoria a minha iniquidade, e matares a meu filho?
19 And he said to her, Give your son to me. And lifting him out of her arms, he took him up to his room and put him down on his bed.
E elle lhe disse: Dá-me o teu filho. E elle o tomou do seu regaço, e o levou para cima, ao quarto, onde elle mesmo habitava, e o deitou em sua cama,
20 And crying to the Lord he said, O Lord my God, have you sent evil even on the widow whose guest I am, by causing her son's death?
E clamou ao Senhor, e disse: Ó Senhor meu Deus, tambem até a esta viuva, com quem eu moro, affligiste, matando-lhe seu filho?
21 And stretching herself out on the child three times, he made his prayer to the Lord, saying, O Lord my God, be pleased to let this child's life come back to him again.
Então se mediu sobre o menino tres vezes, e clamou ao Senhor, e disse: Ó Senhor meu Deus, rogo-te que torne a alma d'este menino a entrar n'elle.
22 And the Lord gave ear to the voice of Elijah, and the child's spirit came into him again, and he came back to life.
E o Senhor ouviu a voz de Elias; e a alma do menino tornou a entrar n'elle, e reviveu.
23 And Elijah took the child down from his room into the house and gave him to his mother and said to her, See, your son is living.
E Elias tomou o menino, e o trouxe do quarto á casa, e o deu a sua mãe; e disse Elias: Vês ahi teu filho vive.
24 Then the woman said to Elijah, Now I am certain that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is true.
Então a mulher disse a Elias: N'isto conheço agora que tu és homem de Deus, e que a palavra do Senhor na tua bocca é verdade.
