< 1 Corinthians 1 >

1 Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the purpose of God, and Sosthenes the brother,
Ri Pablo sikꞌital apanoq rumal ri urayibꞌal ukꞌuꞌx ri Dios, rech kux jun taqoꞌn rech ri Cristo Jesús, rachiꞌl ri alaxik Sóstenes.
2 To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who have been made holy in Christ Jesus, saints by the selection of God, with all those who in every place give honour to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:
Kintaq we wuj ri chike ri e tyoxirisatal pa Cristo Jesús, e sikꞌital apanoq rech kꞌuꞌx tyoxalaj taq winaq e kachiꞌl ri kakinaꞌtaj ri ubꞌiꞌ ri Dios xuqujeꞌ ri qabꞌiꞌ uj pa ronojel kꞌolibꞌal ri e kꞌo wi:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Chikꞌamawaꞌj toqꞌobꞌ xuqujeꞌ jaꞌmaril che ri Dios, ri qaTat xuqujeꞌ utat ri Ajawxel Jesucristo.
4 I give praise to my God for you at all times, because of the grace of God which has been given to you in Christ Jesus;
Ronojel qꞌij kintyoxin che ri Dios rumal iwe, rumal ri utoqꞌobꞌ ri Dios ri xyaꞌtaj chiꞌwe pa Cristo Jesús.
5 So that in him you have wealth in all things, in word and in knowledge of every sort;
Rumal cher xikꞌamawaꞌj ronojel uwach qꞌinomal pa Areꞌ pa etaꞌmanik xuqujeꞌ pa tzij,
6 Even as the witness of the Christ has been made certain among you:
jacha ri qꞌalajisanik chirij ri Cristo ri xjeqebꞌax chiꞌwe.
7 So that having every grace you are living in the hope of the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Jeriꞌ maj jun sipanik kajawataj chiꞌwe are kiwayeꞌj apanoq are kukꞌut ribꞌ ri Ajawxel Jesucristo.
8 Who will give you strength to the end, to be free from all sin in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Areꞌ kabꞌanow chiꞌwe chi ko kixkꞌojiꞌk kꞌa pa ri kꞌisbꞌal qꞌij, rech maj mak kariqitaj chiꞌwe pa ri qꞌij are katzalij loq ri Jesucristo.
9 God is true, through whom you have been given a part with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ri Dios ri kubꞌano ri kubꞌij, areꞌ xixsikꞌin apanoq rech kꞌo iriqoj ibꞌ rukꞌ ri Jesucristo, ri Qajawxel.
10 Now I make request to you, my brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you will all say the same thing, and that there may be no divisions among you, so that you may be in complete agreement, in the same mind and in the same opinion.
Wachalal, kinta chiꞌwe pa ubꞌiꞌ ri Ajawxel Jesucristo, chi xa jun ichomanik kꞌoloq, kixkꞌoloq pa riqoj ibꞌ xuqujeꞌ man kiya ta bꞌe che ri paꞌin ibꞌ chiꞌxoꞌl, xane xa jun chibꞌanaꞌ, xa jun ichomanik xuqujeꞌ xa jun jastaq ix bꞌanal rech.
11 Because it has come to my knowledge, through those of the house of Chloe, that there are divisions among you, my brothers.
Jeriꞌ rumal xbꞌix chwe kumal e jujun rech ri Cloé chi kꞌo chꞌoꞌj chiꞌxoꞌl loqꞌalaj taq wachalal.
12 That is, that some of you say, I am of Paul; some say, I am of Apollos; some say, I am of Cephas; and some say, I am Christ's.
E kꞌo jujun chiꞌwe kakibꞌij: “In in rech ri Pablo, in in rech ri Apolos, in in rech ri Cefas.” Nikꞌaj chik kakibꞌij: “In in rech ri Cristo.”
13 Is there a division in Christ? was Paul nailed to the cross for you? or were you given baptism in the name of Paul?
¿La xa kꞌu paꞌital ri Cristo? ¿La are kꞌu ri Pablo xrip rumal ri imak? ¿La pa ubꞌiꞌ kꞌu ri Pablo xbꞌan wi iqasanaꞌ?
14 I give praise to God that not one of you had baptism from me, but Crispus and Gaius;
Kintyoxin che ri Dios, man kꞌo ta jun chiꞌwe xinbꞌan uqasanaꞌ, xaq xwi xinbꞌan uqasanaꞌ ri Crispo rachiꞌl ri Gayo,
15 So that no one may be able to say that you had baptism in my name.
jeriꞌ maj jun kubꞌij chi pa nubꞌiꞌ in xbꞌan wi uqasanaꞌ.
16 And I gave baptism to the house of Stephanas; but I am not certain that any others had baptism from me.
Xinbꞌan xuqujeꞌ kiqasanaꞌ konojel ri e kꞌo rukꞌ ri Estéfanas; man kanaꞌtaj ta chi chwe we kꞌo chi jun xinbꞌan uqasanaꞌ.
17 For Christ sent me, not to give baptism, but to be a preacher of the good news: not with wise words, for fear that the cross of Christ might be made of no value.
Rumal cher ri Cristo man xinutaq ta loq chubꞌanik qasanaꞌ, xane chutzijoxik ri utz laj taq tzij, man rukꞌ ta kitzij achyabꞌ ri kꞌax uchꞌobꞌik rech man kutzaq taj ri uchuqꞌabꞌ ri xubꞌan ri Cristo cho ri ripbꞌal.
18 For the word of the cross seems foolish to those who are on the way to destruction; but to us who are on the way to salvation it is the power of God.
Rumal ri utzijoxik ri ukamikal ri Jesús cho ri ripbꞌal xaq konarisabꞌal chike ri kasach kiwach, chaqe uj kꞌut ri kujkoltajik, we tzij riꞌ are ukwinem ri Dios.
19 As it says in the holy Writings, I will put an end to the wisdom of the wise, and will put on one side the designs of those who have knowledge.
20 Where is the wise? where is he who has knowledge of the law? where is the man of this world who has a love of discussion? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn g165)
¿Jawjeꞌ kꞌo wi ri achi ri kꞌo retaꞌmabꞌal? ¿Jawjeꞌ kꞌo wi ri qas kusolij ri tzꞌibꞌatalik? ¿Jawjeꞌ kꞌo wi ri achi ri qas kubꞌan chꞌoꞌj pa tzij? ¿La man kꞌu xukonarisaj ri Dios ri etaꞌmabꞌal kech ri achyabꞌ rech we uwachulew riꞌ? (aiōn g165)
21 For because, by the purpose of God, the world, with all its wisdom, had not the knowledge of God, it was God's pleasure, by so foolish a thing as preaching, to give salvation to those who had faith in him.
Pa ri retaꞌmabꞌal ri Dios, xubꞌan chike ri winaq aꞌjuwachulew chi man xketaꞌmaj ta uwach rukꞌ ri ketaꞌmabꞌal, xane xuꞌkolo rukꞌ ri tzij ri xkikojo are xtzijox chike.
22 Seeing that the Jews make request for signs, and the Greeks are looking for knowledge:
Ri winaq aꞌj Israel kakita mayijabꞌal taq jastaq xuqujeꞌ ri winaq ri man aꞌj Israel kakita etaꞌmabꞌal.
23 But we give the good news of Christ on the cross, a hard thing to the Jews, and a foolish thing to the Gentiles;
Ri uj kꞌut kaqatzijoj ri Cristo ri xripik. We tzij ri topibꞌal aqanaj chike ri winaq aꞌj Israel, xuqujeꞌ konarisabꞌal kech ri winaq ri man aꞌj Israel taj.
24 But to those of God's selection, Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power and the wisdom of God.
Chike kꞌu ri e sikꞌital apanoq, ta kꞌu e winaq aꞌj Israel o man aꞌj Israel taj, ri Cristo are ukwinem xuqujeꞌ retaꞌmabꞌal ri Dios.
25 Because what seems foolish in God is wiser than men; and what seems feeble in God is stronger than men.
Rumal cher ri sibꞌalaj kon che ri Dios are sibꞌalaj kꞌo retaꞌmabꞌal cho ri ketaꞌmabꞌal ri winaq xuqujeꞌ ri sibꞌalaj man kꞌo ta uchuqꞌabꞌ pa Dios are sibꞌalaj kꞌo uchuqꞌabꞌ chikiwach ri achyabꞌ.
26 For you see God's design for you, my brothers, that he has not taken a great number of the wise after the flesh, not the strong, not the noble:
Qachalal, qas chiwila na jas ri qas ix sikꞌital wi apanoq: Man ix kꞌi taj ri kꞌo iwetaꞌmabꞌal jetaq ri kakibꞌij ri winaq, man e kꞌi ta chiꞌwe ri e kalkꞌwaꞌl taq ri taqanelabꞌ.
27 But God made selection of the foolish things of this world so that he might put the wise to shame; and the feeble things that he might put to shame the strong;
Ri Dios kꞌut xuchaꞌ ri man kꞌo ta retaꞌmabꞌal cho ri uwachulew rech kuꞌya pa kikꞌixibꞌal ri achyabꞌ ri kꞌo ketaꞌmabꞌal, xuqujeꞌ xuchaꞌ ri sibꞌalaj maj uchuqꞌabꞌ cho ri uwachulew rech kuꞌya pa kikꞌixibꞌal ri kꞌo taqanik pa kiqꞌabꞌ.
28 And the low things of the world, and the things without honour, did God make selection of, yes, even the things which are not, so that he might make as nothing the things which are:
Ri Dios xuchaꞌ apanoq ri sibꞌalaj man kꞌo ta kakꞌam che xuqujeꞌ ri etzelatal uwach kumal ri winaq xukꞌamawaꞌj ri man sukꞌ taj xuqujeꞌ xretzelaj ri sukꞌ kunaꞌo.
29 So that no flesh might have glory before God.
Jeriꞌ xubꞌano rech maj jun kubꞌan nimal cho ri Dios.
30 But God has given you a place in Christ Jesus, through whom God has given us wisdom and righteousness and salvation, and made us holy:
Xa Tyox che Areꞌ, ix ix kꞌo pa Cristo Jesús, ri Cristo are qetaꞌmabꞌal, pa juleꞌ taq tzij chik are wa ri xbꞌanow sukꞌ chaqe xuqujeꞌ are xujutyoxirisaj, areꞌ xujtorow loq.
31 So that, as it is said in the holy Writings, Whoever has a desire for glory, let his glory be in the Lord.
Rech jetaq ri tzꞌibꞌatalik: We kꞌo jun kunaꞌ nimal, chunaꞌ nimal pa ri Ajawxel Jesús.
