Zechariah 7
1 In the fourth year of King Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah on the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Chislev.
En el cuarto año del rey Darío, la palabra de Yahvé llegó a Zacarías en el cuarto día del noveno mes, el mes de Chislev.
2 Now the people of Bethel had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech, along with their men, to plead before the LORD
El pueblo de Betel envió a Sharezer y a Regem Melec y a sus hombres a implorar el favor de Yahvé,
3 by asking the priests of the house of the LORD of Hosts, as well as the prophets, “Should I weep and fast in the fifth month, as I have done these many years?”
y a hablar con los sacerdotes de la casa de Yahvé de los Ejércitos y con los profetas, diciendo: “¿Debo llorar en el quinto mes, separándome, como he hecho estos tantos años?”
4 Then the word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying,
Entonces vino a mí la palabra de Yahvé de los Ejércitos, diciendo:
5 “Ask all the people of the land and the priests, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months for these seventy years, was it really for Me that you fasted?
“Habla a todo el pueblo de la tierra y a los sacerdotes, diciendo: ‘Cuando ayunasteis y llorasteis en el quinto y en el séptimo mes durante estos setenta años, ¿habéis ayunado en absoluto para mí, realmente para mí?
6 And when you were eating and drinking, were you not doing so simply for yourselves?
Cuando coméis y cuando bebéis, ¿no coméis para vosotros y bebéis para vosotros?
7 Are these not the words that the LORD proclaimed through the earlier prophets, when Jerusalem and its surrounding towns were populous and prosperous, and the Negev and the foothills were inhabited?’”
¿No son éstas las palabras que Yahvé proclamó por medio de los antiguos profetas, cuando Jerusalén estaba habitada y en prosperidad, y sus ciudades alrededor, y el sur y la llanura estaban habitados?”
8 Then the word of the LORD came to Zechariah, saying,
La palabra de Yahvé vino a Zacarías, diciendo:
9 “This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Administer true justice. Show loving devotion and compassion to one another.
“Así ha hablado Yahvé de los Ejércitos, diciendo: ‘Ejecutad el juicio verdadero, y mostrad bondad y compasión cada uno con su hermano.
10 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. And do not plot evil in your hearts against one another.’
No opriman a la viuda, ni al huérfano, ni al extranjero, ni al pobre; y que ninguno de ustedes piense en su corazón el mal contra su hermano.’
11 But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder; they stopped up their ears from hearing.
Pero no quisieron escuchar, y volvieron la espalda, y se taparon los oídos para no oír.
12 They made their hearts like flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the LORD of Hosts had sent by His Spirit through the earlier prophets. Therefore great anger came from the LORD of Hosts.
Sí, endurecieron su corazón como el pedernal, para no oír la ley y las palabras que el Señor de los Ejércitos había enviado por su Espíritu a través de los antiguos profetas. Por eso vino una gran ira de parte del Señor de los Ejércitos.
13 And just as I had called and they would not listen, so when they called I would not listen, says the LORD of Hosts.
Ha sucedido que, como él llamó y ellos no quisieron escuchar, así llamarán y yo no escucharé”, dijo el Señor de los Ejércitos;
14 But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations that they had not known, and the land was left desolate behind them so that no one could come or go. Thus they turned the pleasant land into a desolation.”
“sino que los dispersaré con un torbellino entre todas las naciones que no han conocido. Así, la tierra quedó desolada después de ellos, de modo que nadie pasó ni regresó; porque hicieron desolada la tierra placentera.”
