< Zechariah 2 >
1 Then I lifted up my eyes and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.
And I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold, there was a man with a measure-cord in his hand.
2 “Where are you going?” I asked. “To measure Jerusalem,” he replied, “and to determine its width and length.”
Then said I, Whither art thou going? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is her breadth, and what is her length.
3 Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel came out to meet him
And, behold, the angel that spoke with me went out, and another angel came out to meet him;
4 and said to him, “Run and tell that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the multitude of men and livestock within it.
And he said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Without walls shall Jerusalem be inhabited because of the multitude of men and cattle in her midst.
5 For I will be a wall of fire around it, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory within it.’”
But I—I will be unto her, saith the Lord, a wall of fire round about, and for glory will I be in the midst of her.
6 “Get up! Get up! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven,” declares the LORD.
Up! up! and flee away from the land of the north saith the Lord; for as the four winds of the heaven have I spread you abroad, saith the Lord.
7 “Get up, O Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the Daughter of Babylon!”
Up, Zion, escape, thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
8 For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “After His Glory has sent Me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye—
For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, For the sake of [your] glory hath he sent me unto the nations that have despoiled you; for whoever toucheth you, toucheth the apple of his eye.
9 I will surely wave My hand over them, so that they will become plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me.”
For, behold, I will swing my hand over them, and they shall be a spoil to those that served them: and ye shall acknowledge that the Lord of hosts hath sent me.
10 “Shout for joy and be glad, O Daughter of Zion, for I am coming to dwell among you,” declares the LORD.
Sing, and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for, lo, I am coming, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.
11 “On that day many nations will join themselves to the LORD, and they will become My people. I will dwell among you, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you.
And many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day, and they shall be unto me for a people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
12 And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem.
And the Lord will take Judah as his inheritance upon the holy land; and he will again make choice of Jerusalem.
13 Be silent before the LORD, all people, for He has roused Himself from His holy dwelling.”
Be silent, all flesh! before the Lord; for he is waked up out of his holy habitation.
