Romans 11
1 I ask then, did God reject His people? Certainly not! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.
Então eu pergunto: Deus rejeitou seu povo? Que nunca seja! Pois eu também sou israelita, descendente de Abraão, da tribo de Benjamin.
2 God did not reject His people, whom He foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says about Elijah, how he appealed to God against Israel:
Deus não rejeitou seu povo, a quem ele antepassou. Ou não sabe o que diz a Escritura sobre Elias? Como ele suplica a Deus contra Israel:
3 “Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars. I am the only one left, and they are seeking my life as well”?
“Senhor, eles mataram seus profetas. Eles derrubaram seus altares. Fui deixado sozinho, e eles procuram minha vida”.
4 And what was the divine reply to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”
Mas como Deus lhe responde? “Eu reservei para mim sete mil homens que não dobraram o joelho a Baal”.
5 In the same way, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.
Mesmo assim, neste momento, também há um remanescente de acordo com a eleição da graça.
6 And if it is by grace, then it is no longer by works. Otherwise, grace would no longer be grace.
E se por graça, então não é mais de obras; caso contrário, a graça não é mais graça. Mas se é de obras, não é mais graça; caso contrário, o trabalho não é mais trabalho.
7 What then? What Israel was seeking, it failed to obtain, but the elect did. The others were hardened,
O que então? O que Israel busca, que não obteve, mas os escolhidos o obtiveram, e o resto foi endurecido.
8 as it is written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see, and ears that could not hear, to this very day.”
According como está escrito, “Deus lhes deu um espírito de estupor, olhos que não devem ver, e ouvidos que não devem ouvir, até os dias de hoje”.
9 And David says: “May their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution to them.
David diz, “Que a mesa deles seja feita uma armadilha, uma armadilha”, um empecilho e uma retribuição a eles.
10 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever.”
Que seus olhos se escureçam, para que não vejam. Mantenham sempre as costas dobradas”.
11 I ask then, did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Certainly not! However, because of their trespass, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel jealous.
Pergunto então, eles tropeçaram que poderiam cair? Que nunca! Mas por sua queda, a salvação chegou aos gentios, para provocá-los a ciúmes.
12 But if their trespass means riches for the world, and their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring!
Agora, se sua queda é a riqueza do mundo, e sua perda a riqueza dos gentios, quanto mais a sua plenitude!
13 I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry
Pois eu falo com vocês que são gentios. Desde então, como sou apóstolo dos gentios, glorifico meu ministério,
14 in the hope that I may provoke my own people to jealousy and save some of them.
se de alguma forma eu puder provocar ciúmes àqueles que são minha carne, e salvar alguns deles.
15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?
Pois se a rejeição deles é a reconciliação do mundo, qual seria sua aceitação, senão a vida dos mortos?
16 If the first part of the dough is holy, so is the whole batch; if the root is holy, so are the branches.
Se o primeiro fruto é santo, o caroço também é. Se a raiz é santa, os galhos também o são.
17 Now if some branches have been broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others to share in the nourishment of the olive root,
Mas se alguns dos ramos foram quebrados, e você, sendo uma azeitona selvagem, foi enxertado entre eles e se tornou participante com eles da raiz e da riqueza da oliveira,
18 do not boast over those branches. If you do, remember this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.
não se vanglorie sobre os ramos. Mas se você se vangloria, lembre-se que não é você quem sustenta a raiz, mas a raiz sustenta você.
19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.”
Você dirá então: “Os galhos foram quebrados, para que eu possa ser enxertado”.
20 That is correct: They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.
True; pela descrença deles, eles foram quebrados, e você se mantém fiel a sua fé. Não seja convencido, mas tenha medo;
21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He will certainly not spare you either.
pois se Deus não poupou os ramos naturais, também não poupará você.
22 Take notice, therefore, of the kindness and severity of God: severity to those who fell, but kindness to you, if you continue in His kindness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.
Veja então a bondade e a severidade de Deus. Para aqueles que caíram, severidade; mas para você, bondade, se você continuar em Sua bondade; caso contrário, você também será cortado.
23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
Eles também, se não continuarem em sua descrença, serão enxertados, pois Deus é capaz de enxertá-los novamente.
24 For if you were cut from a wild olive tree, and contrary to nature were grafted into one that is cultivated, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!
Pois se você foi cortado do que é por natureza uma oliveira selvagem, e foi enxertado ao contrário da natureza em uma boa oliveira, quanto mais estes, que são os ramos naturais, serão enxertados em sua própria oliveira?
25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you will not be conceited: A hardening in part has come to Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.
Pois não desejo que vocês sejam ignorantes, irmãos, deste mistério, para que não sejam sábios em seus próprios conceitos, que um endurecimento parcial tenha acontecido com Israel, até que a plenitude dos gentios tenha chegado,
26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion; He will remove godlessness from Jacob.
e assim todo Israel será salvo. Mesmo como está escrito, “Sairá de Zion, o Libertador”, e ele vai afastar a impiedade de Jacob.
27 And this is My covenant with them when I take away their sins.”
Este é meu convênio com eles, quando eu tirarei seus pecados”.
28 Regarding the gospel, they are enemies on your account; but regarding election, they are loved on account of the patriarchs.
Concerning a Boa Nova, eles são inimigos por sua causa. Mas em relação à eleição, eles são amados por causa dos pais.
29 For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.
pois os dons e o chamado de Deus são irrevogáveis.
30 Just as you who formerly disobeyed God have now received mercy through their disobedience,
Pois como no passado vocês foram desobedientes a Deus, mas agora obtiveram misericórdia por sua desobediência,
31 so they too have now disobeyed, in order that they too may now receive mercy through the mercy shown to you.
mesmo assim, agora também foram desobedientes, para que pela misericórdia demonstrada a vocês eles também possam obter misericórdia.
32 For God has consigned everyone to disobedience so that He may have mercy on everyone. (eleēsē g1653)
Pois Deus vinculou todos à desobediência, para que Ele pudesse ter misericórdia de todos. (eleēsē g1653)
33 O, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and untraceable His ways!
Oh a profundidade das riquezas tanto da sabedoria como do conhecimento de Deus! Quão indecifráveis são seus julgamentos, e seus caminhos para além do rastreamento!
34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor?”
“Para quem conheceu a mente do Senhor? Ou quem tem sido seu conselheiro”?
35 “Who has first given to God, that God should repay him?”
“Or who has first given to him, e lhe será devolvido novamente?”
