Psalms 78

1 A Maskil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my instruction; listen to the words of my mouth.

౧ఆసాపు కీర్తన. మస్కిల్ (దైవధ్యానం) నా ప్రజలారా, నా బోధను ఆలకించండి. నేను చెప్పే మాటలు వినండి.

2 I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the beginning,

౨నా నోటితో జ్ఞానయుక్తమైన మాటలు చెబుతాను. పూర్వకాలం నుండీ రహస్యంగా ఉన్న విషయాలు నేను తెలియజేస్తాను.

3 that we have heard and known and our fathers have relayed to us.

౩మాకు తెలిసిన సంగతులను, మా పూర్వికులు మాకు తెలిపిన సంగతులను చెబుతాను.

4 We will not hide them from their children, but will declare to the next generation the praises of the LORD and His might, and the wonders He has performed.

౪యెహోవా చేసిన గొప్ప కార్యాలను, ఆయన బలాన్ని, ఆయన చేసిన ఆశ్చర్య క్రియలను దాచకుండా వారి పిల్లలకు మేము వినిపిస్తాం.

5 For He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children,

౫రాబోయే తరాల్లో పుట్టే పిల్లలు దాన్ని తెలుసుకుని తమ పిల్లలకు దాన్ని వివరించాలి. వారు కూడా దేవునిలో నిరీక్షణ ఉంచి దేవుని కార్యాలు మరచిపోకూడదు.

6 that the coming generation would know them— even children yet to be born— to arise and tell their own children

౬వారి పూర్వికులు యథార్థహృదయులు కారు. దేవుని విషయంలో స్థిర బుద్ధి లేనివారై ఆయనపై తిరగబడ్డారు.

7 that they should put their confidence in God, not forgetting His works, but keeping His commandments.

౭మీరు ఆ తరం వారిలాగా ఉండకూడదు. ఆయన ఆజ్ఞలు అనుసరించాలి.

8 Then they will not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose heart was not loyal, whose spirit was not faithful to God.

౮ఆయన యాకోబు సంతానానికి శాసనాలు ఏర్పాటు చేశాడు. ఇశ్రాయేలు సంతానానికి ధర్మశాస్త్రం అనుగ్రహించాడు. తమ సంతానానికి దాన్ని నేర్పించాలని మన పూర్వీకులకు ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు.

9 The archers of Ephraim turned back on the day of battle.

౯ఎఫ్రాయిము గోత్రం వారు విల్లంబులు పట్టుకుని యుద్ధానికి సిద్ధపడ్డారు కానీ యుద్ధం జరిగిన రోజు వెనక్కి తిరిగి పారిపోయారు.

10 They failed to keep God’s covenant and refused to live by His law.

౧౦వారు దేవునితో నిబంధనను నెరవేర్చలేదు. ఆయన ధర్మశాస్త్రాన్ని అనుసరించ లేదు.

11 They forgot what He had done, the wonders He had shown them.

౧౧ఆయన చేసిన కార్యాలూ ఆయన వారికి చూపిన తన ఆశ్చర్య క్రియలూ వారు మర్చి పోయారు.

12 He worked wonders before their fathers in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.

౧౨ఈజిప్టుదేశంలోని సోయను ప్రాంతంలో వారి పూర్వీకుల మధ్య ఆయన ఆశ్చర్యకార్యాలు చేశాడు.

13 He split the sea and brought them through; He set the waters upright like a wall.

౧౩ఆయన సముద్రాన్ని రెండుగా చీల్చి వారిని అవతలికి దాటించాడు. నీటిని రెండు వైపులా గోడల్లాగా నిలబెట్టాడు.

14 He led them with a cloud by day and with a light of fire all night.

౧౪పగలు మేఘంలో నుండీ రాత్రి అగ్ని వెలుగులో నుండీ ఆయన వారిని నడిపించాడు.

15 He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink as abundant as the seas.

౧౫అరణ్యంలో బండరాయిని చీల్చి సముద్రమంత సమృద్ధిగా వారికి నీరు అనుగ్రహించాడు.

16 He brought streams from the stone and made water flow down like rivers.

౧౬బండలోనుండి ఆయన నీటికాలువలు పారజేశాడు.

17 But they continued to sin against Him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High.

౧౭అయినా వారు మహోన్నతుని మీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసి ఆయనకు వ్యతిరేకంగా పాపం చేస్తూనే వచ్చారు.

18 They willfully tested God by demanding the food they craved.

౧౮వారు తమ ఆశకొద్దీ ఆహారం అడుగుతూ తమ హృదయాల్లో దేవుణ్ణి పరీక్షించారు.

19 They spoke against God, saying, “Can God really prepare a table in the wilderness?

౧౯ఈ అరణ్యంలో దేవుడు భోజనం సిద్ధపరచగలడా?

20 When He struck the rock, water gushed out and torrents raged. But can He also give bread or supply His people with meat?”

౨౦ఆయన గండ శిలను కొట్టినప్పుడు నీరు ఉబికి కాలువలై పారింది. ఆయన మనకు ఆహారం కూడా ఇవ్వగలడా? తన ప్రజలకు మాంసం సమకూర్చగలడా? అని వారు చెప్పుకుంటూ దేవునికి విరోధంగా మాట్లాడారు.

21 Therefore the LORD heard and was filled with wrath; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and His anger flared against Israel,

౨౧యెహోవా ఈ మాట విని కోపగించాడు. యాకోబు సంతానాన్ని దహించడానికి ఆయన అగ్ని రాజుకుంది. ఇశ్రాయేలు సంతానం మీద ఆయన కోపం రగులుకుంది.

22 because they did not believe God or rely on His salvation.

౨౨వారు దేవునిలో విశ్వాసముంచలేదు. ఆయన అనుగ్రహించిన రక్షణలో నమ్మకం పెట్టుకోలేదు.

23 Yet He commanded the clouds above and opened the doors of the heavens.

౨౩అయినప్పటికీ ఆయన పైనున్న ఆకాశాలకు ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు. అంతరిక్ష ద్వారాలను తెరిచాడు.

24 He rained down manna for them to eat; He gave them grain from heaven.

౨౪ఆయన వారికి ఆహారంగా మన్నాను కురిపించాడు. ఆకాశధాన్యం వారికి అనుగ్రహించాడు.

25 Man ate the bread of angels; He sent them food in abundance.

౨౫మనుషులు దేవదూతల ఆహారం తిన్నారు. ఆయన వారికి ఆహారం సమృద్ధిగా పంపించాడు.

26 He stirred the east wind from the heavens and drove the south wind by His might.

౨౬ఆకాశంలో తూర్పు గాలి విసిరేలా చేశాడు. తన బలంతో దక్షిణపు గాలి రప్పించాడు.

27 He rained meat on them like dust, and winged birds like the sand of the sea.

౨౭ధూళి అంత విస్తారంగా మాంసాన్నీ సముద్రపు ఇసుక రేణువులంత విస్తారంగా పక్షులనూ ఆయన వారి కోసం కురిపించాడు.

28 He felled them in the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings.

౨౮అవి వారి శిబిరం మధ్యలో వారి గుడారాల చుట్టూ రాలి పడ్డాయి.

29 So they ate and were well filled, for He gave them what they craved.

౨౯వారు కడుపారా తిన్నారు. వారు దేని కోసం వెంపర్లాడారో దాన్ని ఆయన అనుగ్రహించాడు.

30 Yet before they had filled their desire, with the food still in their mouths,

౩౦అయితే, వారి ఆశ తీరక ముందే, అంటే ఆహారం ఇంకా వారి నోటిలో ఉండగానే,

31 God’s anger flared against them, and He put to death their strongest and subdued the young men of Israel.

౩౧వారి మీద దేవుని కోపం చెలరేగింది. వారిలో బలమైన వారిని ఆయన సంహరించాడు. ఇశ్రాయేలు యువకులు కూలిపోయేలా చేశాడు.

32 In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; despite His wonderful works, they did not believe.

౩౨ఇంత జరిగినా వారు ఇంకా పాపం చేస్తూ వచ్చారు. ఆయన ఆశ్చర్యకార్యాలను చూసి ఆయన్ని నమ్మలేదు.

33 So He ended their days in futility, and their years in sudden terror.

౩౩కాబట్టి ఆయన వారి రోజులు తక్కువ చేశాడు. వారి సంవత్సరాలు భయంతో నింపాడు.

34 When He slew them, they would seek Him; they repented and searched for God.

౩౪ఆయన వారిని బాధలకు గురి చేసినప్పుడల్లా వారు ఆయన వైపు తిరిగి హృదయపూర్వకంగా దేవుణ్ణి బతిమాలుకున్నారు.

35 And they remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer.

౩౫దేవుడు తమ ఆశ్రయదుర్గమనీ మహోన్నతుడైన దేవుడు తమకు విమోచకుడనీ వారు జ్ఞాపకం చేసుకున్నారు.

36 But they deceived Him with their mouths, and lied to Him with their tongues.

౩౬అయితే వారు తమ నోటితో పైపైనే ఆయన్ని స్తుతించారు. తమ నాలుకలతో ఆయన ఎదుట అబద్ధాలు పలికారు.

37 Their hearts were disloyal to Him, and they were unfaithful to His covenant.

౩౭ఎందుకంటే వారి హృదయం ఆయన మీద నిలుపుకోలేదు. ఆయన నిబంధనను నమ్మకంగా పాటించలేదు.

38 And yet He was compassionate; He forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them. He often restrained His anger and did not unleash His full wrath.

౩౮అయితే ఆయన తన కనికరాన్ని బట్టి వారిని నాశనానికి గురి చేయకుండా వారి దోషాన్ని క్షమించాడు. చాలాసార్లు తన ఉగ్రతను రేపుకోకుండా దాన్ని అణచుకున్నాడు.

39 He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return.

౩౯ఎందుకంటే వారు కేవలం మానవమాత్రులనీ, వీచిన తరవాత తిరిగిరాని గాలిలాంటి వారనీ ఆయన జ్ఞాపకం చేసుకున్నాడు.

40 How often they disobeyed Him in the wilderness and grieved Him in the desert!

౪౦అరణ్యంలో వారు ఆయన మీద ఎన్నోసార్లు తిరగబడ్డారు. ఎడారిలో ఆయనను ఎన్నోసార్లు దుఃఖపెట్టారు.

41 Again and again they tested God and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

౪౧మాటిమాటికీ దేవుణ్ణి శోధించారు. మాటిమాటికీ ఇశ్రాయేలు పరిశుద్ధ దేవునికి దుఃఖం పుట్టించారు.

42 They did not remember His power — the day He redeemed them from the adversary,

౪౨ఆయన బాహుబలాన్నీ, ఏ విధంగా ఆయన తమ శత్రువుల చేతిలో నుండి తమను విమోచించాడో దానినీ,

43 when He performed His signs in Egypt and His wonders in the fields of Zoan.

౪౩ఈజిప్టులో ఆయన చూపిన సూచక క్రియలనూ సోయను ప్రాంతంలో ఆయన చేసిన అద్భుతాలనూ వారు జ్ఞాపకం చేసుకోలేదు.

44 He turned their rivers to blood, and from their streams they could not drink.

౪౪నైలునది కాలవలను, వారి ప్రవాహాలను ఆయన రక్తంగా మార్చినప్పుడు ఐగుప్తీయులు తాగలేక పోయారు.

45 He sent swarms of flies that devoured them, and frogs that devastated them.

౪౫ఆయన వారి మీదికి ఈగల గుంపులను పంపించాడు. అవి వారిని ముంచివేశాయి, కప్పలను పంపాడు. అవి వారి నేలంతటినీ కప్పివేశాయి.

46 He gave their crops to the grasshopper, the fruit of their labor to the locust.

౪౬ఆయన వారి పంటలను చీడపురుగులకిచ్చాడు. వారి కష్టఫలాన్ని మిడతలకు అప్పగించాడు.

47 He killed their vines with hailstones and their sycamore-figs with sleet.

౪౭వడగండ్ల చేత వారి ద్రాక్షతీగెలను, మంచు చేత వారి మేడిచెట్లను ఆయన పాడు చేశాడు.

48 He abandoned their cattle to the hail and their livestock to bolts of lightning.

౪౮వారి పశువులపై వడగళ్ళు కురిపించాడు. వారి మందలపై పిడుగులు రాలాయి.

49 He unleashed His fury against them, wrath, indignation, and calamity— a band of destroying angels.

౪౯ఆయన విపత్తును కలిగించే దూతలుగా తన ఉగ్రతను, మహోగ్రతను, బాధను వారి మీదికి పంపించాడు.

50 He cleared a path for His anger; He did not spare them from death but delivered their lives to the plague.

౫౦తన కోపానికి దారి చదునుగా చేశాడు. వారిని మరణం నుండి తప్పించకుండా వారి ప్రాణాన్ని తెగులుకు అప్పగించాడు.

51 He struck all the firstborn of Egypt, the virility in the tents of Ham.

౫౧ఈజిప్టులోని పెద్ద కొడుకులందరినీ హాము గుడారాల్లో వారి బలానికి గుర్తుగా ఉన్న ప్రథమ సంతానాన్ని ఆయన చంపాడు.

52 He led out His people like sheep and guided them like a flock in the wilderness.

౫౨ఆ తరవాత ఆయన తన ప్రజలను గొర్రెలను తోలినట్టుగా నడిపించాడు. ఒకడు తన మందను ఎలా నడిపిస్తాడో అరణ్యంలో ఆయన వారిని అలా నడిపించాడు.

53 He led them safely, so they did not fear, but the sea engulfed their enemies.

౫౩వారు భయపడకుండా ఆయన వారిని సురక్షితంగా నడిపించాడు. వారి శత్రువులను సముద్రంలో ముంచివేశాడు.

54 He brought them to His holy land, to the mountain His right hand had acquired.

౫౪తన పరిశుద్ధ భూమి సరిహద్దు దగ్గరికి, తన కుడిచెయ్యి సంపాదించిన ఈ పర్వతం దగ్గరికి ఆయన వారిని రప్పించాడు.

55 He drove out nations before them and apportioned their inheritance; He settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.

౫౫వారి ఎదుట నుండి అన్య జాతులను వెళ్లగొట్టాడు. ఆ ప్రజల వారసత్వాన్ని వారికి పంచి ఇచ్చాడు. ఇశ్రాయేలు గోత్రాలను వారి గుడారాల్లో స్థిరపరిచాడు.

56 But they tested and disobeyed God Most High, for they did not keep His decrees.

౫౬అయినప్పటికీ వారు మహోన్నతుడైన దేవుణ్ణి పరీక్షించి తిరుగుబాటు చేశారు. ఆయన శాసనాలను పాటించలేదు.

57 They turned back and were faithless like their fathers, twisted like a faulty bow.

౫౭తమ పూర్వికుల్లాగా వారు అపనమ్మకస్తులై ద్రోహం చేశారు. పనికిరాని విల్లులాగా నిష్ప్రయోజకులయ్యారు.

58 They enraged Him with their high places and provoked His jealousy with their idols.

౫౮వారు ఉన్నత స్థలాల్లో దేవస్థానాలు నిలిపి ఆయనకు కోపం పుట్టించారు. విగ్రహాలు నిలబెట్టి ఆయనకు రోషం కలిగించారు.

59 On hearing it, God was furious and rejected Israel completely.

౫౯దాన్ని చూసిన దేవుడు ఆగ్రహించి ఇశ్రాయేలును పూర్తిగా తోసిపుచ్చాడు.

60 He abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent He had pitched among men.

౬౦షిలోహు పట్టణంలో మందిరాన్ని, తాను మనుషులతో కలిసి నివసించిన గుడారాన్ని విడిచిపెట్టాడు.

61 He delivered His strength to captivity, and His splendor to the hand of the adversary.

౬౧ఆయన తన బలాన్ని చెరలోకీ తన మహిమను విరోధుల చేతిలోకీ వెళ్ళడానికి అనుమతించాడు.

62 He surrendered His people to the sword because He was enraged by His heritage.

౬౨తన ప్రజలను ఖడ్గానికి అప్పగించాడు. ఆయన తన వారసత్వం మీద కోపించాడు.

63 Fire consumed His young men, and their maidens were left without wedding songs.

౬౩అగ్ని వారి యువకులను దహించివేసింది. వారి కన్యలకు పెండ్లిపాటలు లేకుండా పోయాయి.

64 His priests fell by the sword, but their widows could not lament.

౬౪వారి యాజకులు కత్తిపాలై కూలిపోయారు. విధవలైన వారి భార్యలు రోదనం చేయలేక పోయారు.

65 Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a mighty warrior overcome by wine.

౬౫అప్పుడు నిద్ర నుండి మేల్కొన్న వ్యక్తిలాగా, ద్రాక్షరసం తాగి కేకపెట్టే యోధుడిలాగా ప్రభువు లేచాడు.

66 He beat back His foes; He put them to everlasting shame.

౬౬ఆయన తన విరోధులను వెనక్కి తరిమికొట్టాడు. వారిని నిత్యమైన అవమానానికి గురి చేశాడు.

67 He rejected the tent of Joseph and refused the tribe of Ephraim.

౬౭తరవాత ఆయన యోసేపు గుడారాన్ని అసహ్యించుకున్నాడు. ఎఫ్రాయిము గోత్రాన్ని కోరుకోలేదు.

68 But He chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loved.

౬౮యూదా గోత్రాన్ని, తాను ప్రేమించిన సీయోను పర్వతాన్ని ఆయన ఎన్నుకున్నాడు.

69 He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth He has established forever.

౬౯అంతరిక్షంలాగా, తాను శాశ్వతంగా స్థిరపరచిన భూమిలాగా ఆయన తన మందిరాన్ని కట్టించాడు.

70 He chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds;

౭౦తన సేవకుడు దావీదును ఎన్నుకుని గొర్రెల మందల మధ్య నుండి అతణ్ణి పిలిపించాడు.

71 from tending the ewes He brought him to be shepherd of His people Jacob, of Israel His inheritance.

౭౧పాలిచ్చే గొర్రెల వెంట నడవడం మాన్పించి తన ప్రజలైన యాకోబును, తన వారసత్వమైన ఇశ్రాయేలును మేపడానికి ఆయన అతణ్ణి రప్పించాడు.

72 So David shepherded them with integrity of heart and guided them with skillful hands.

౭౨అతడు యథార్థ హృదయంతో వారిని పాలించాడు. నైపుణ్యంతో వారిని నడిపించాడు.
