Psalms 78
1 A Maskil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my instruction; listen to the words of my mouth.
ആസാഫിന്റെ ഒരു ധ്യാനസങ്കീർത്തനം. എന്റെ ജനമേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശം കേൾക്കുക; എന്റെ വായിലെ വാക്കുകൾ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക.
2 I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the beginning,
ഞാൻ സാദൃശ്യകഥ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതിനായി എന്റെ വായ് തുറക്കും; പുരാതനകാലംമുതൽ മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഞാൻ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കും—
3 that we have heard and known and our fathers have relayed to us.
നാം കേൾക്കുകയും അറിയുകയും നമ്മുടെ പൂർവികർ നമ്മെ അറിയിക്കുകയുംചെയ്ത കാര്യങ്ങൾതന്നെ.
4 We will not hide them from their children, but will declare to the next generation the praises of the LORD and His might, and the wonders He has performed.
നാം അവ അവരുടെ മക്കളിൽനിന്ന് മറച്ചുവെക്കുകയില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ മഹത്തായ പ്രവൃത്തികളെപ്പറ്റി, അവിടത്തെ ശക്തിയെയും അവിടന്നു ചെയ്ത അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളെയുംപറ്റിയും ഞങ്ങൾ അടുത്ത തലമുറയോട് പ്രസ്താവിക്കും.
5 For He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children,
അവിടന്ന് യാക്കോബിന് തന്റെ നിയമവ്യവസ്ഥകൾ ഉത്തരവിടുകയും ഇസ്രായേലിൽ ന്യായപ്രമാണം സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു— നമ്മുടെ പൂർവികരോട് അവരുടെ മക്കൾക്ക് ഉപദേശിച്ചുനൽകണമെന്ന് അവിടന്ന് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചവതന്നെ—
6 that the coming generation would know them— even children yet to be born— to arise and tell their own children
അങ്ങനെ അടുത്ത തലമുറ ആ കൽപ്പനകൾ അറിയും ഇനി ജനിക്കാനിരിക്കുന്ന മക്കളും! അവർ അവരുടെ മക്കളെ അത് പഠിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
7 that they should put their confidence in God, not forgetting His works, but keeping His commandments.
അപ്പോൾ അവർ ദൈവത്തിൽ തങ്ങളുടെ ആശ്രയംവെക്കുകയും അവിടത്തെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ മറക്കാതെ അവിടത്തെ കൽപ്പനകൾ പ്രമാണിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
8 Then they will not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose heart was not loyal, whose spirit was not faithful to God.
അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പൂർവികരെപ്പോലെ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ളവരും മത്സരികളുമായ ഒരു തലമുറയോ അവിശ്വസ്തരും ദൈവത്തോട് കൂറുപുലർത്താത്ത ഹൃദയവുമുള്ള ഒരു തലമുറയോ ആകുകയില്ല.
9 The archers of Ephraim turned back on the day of battle.
എഫ്രയീം വില്ലാളിവീരന്മാർ ആയിരുന്നെങ്കിലും യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിൽ അവർ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞോടി;
10 They failed to keep God’s covenant and refused to live by His law.
അവർ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഉടമ്പടി പാലിക്കുകയോ അവിടത്തെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം അനുസരിച്ച് ജീവിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.
11 They forgot what He had done, the wonders He had shown them.
അവിടന്നു ചെയ്ത പ്രവൃത്തികളും അവരെ കാണിച്ച അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും അവർ മറന്നു.
12 He worked wonders before their fathers in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.
അവിടന്ന് അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെമുമ്പാകെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ സോവാൻ സമഭൂമിയിൽ അത്ഭുതങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചല്ലോ.
13 He split the sea and brought them through; He set the waters upright like a wall.
അവിടന്ന് കടൽ വിഭജിച്ച് അതിലൂടെ അവരെ കടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവിടന്ന് ജലപാളികളെ ഒരു മതിൽപോലെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചുനിർത്തി.
14 He led them with a cloud by day and with a light of fire all night.
പകൽമുഴുവൻ മേഘംകൊണ്ട് അവർക്ക് തണൽ ഒരുക്കി രാത്രിമുഴുവൻ അഗ്നിജ്വാലയിൽനിന്നുള്ള പ്രകാശത്താൽ അവിടന്ന് അവരെ നയിച്ചു.
15 He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink as abundant as the seas.
അവിടന്ന് മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ച് പാറകളെ പിളർത്തി ആഴിയിൽനിന്നെന്നപോലെ അവർക്ക് സമൃദ്ധമായി ജലം നൽകി;
16 He brought streams from the stone and made water flow down like rivers.
കടുന്തൂക്കായ പാറകളിൽനിന്ന് അവിടന്ന് അരുവികൾ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു. ആ നീർച്ചാലുകളെ, താഴ്വരയിലേക്ക് നദികൾപോലെ ഒഴുക്കി.
17 But they continued to sin against Him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High.
എന്നിട്ടും അവർ അവിടത്തേക്കെതിരേ പാപംചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു, മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ച് അത്യുന്നതനെതിരേ മത്സരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
18 They willfully tested God by demanding the food they craved.
തങ്ങൾ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച ഭക്ഷണത്തിനായി അവർ മനഃപൂർവം ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു.
19 They spoke against God, saying, “Can God really prepare a table in the wilderness?
അവർ ദൈവത്തിനു വിരോധമായി മുറവിളികൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “മരുഭൂമിയിൽ നമുക്ക് ഭക്ഷണമേശ ഒരുക്കുന്നതിന് ദൈവത്തിന് കഴിയുമോ?
20 When He struck the rock, water gushed out and torrents raged. But can He also give bread or supply His people with meat?”
അവിടന്ന് പാറയെ അടിച്ചു, വെള്ളം പൊട്ടിപ്പുറപ്പെട്ടു അരുവികൾ കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകി, സത്യം, എന്നാൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഭക്ഷണംകൂടി നൽകാൻ അവിടത്തേക്കു കഴിയുമോ? അവിടത്തെ ജനത്തിനു മാംസം നൽകുമോ?”
21 Therefore the LORD heard and was filled with wrath; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and His anger flared against Israel,
യഹോവ ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ രോഷാകുലനായി; അവിടത്തെ കോപാഗ്നി യാക്കോബിനെതിരേയും അവിടത്തെ ക്രോധം ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെനേരേയും കത്തിജ്വലിച്ചു,
22 because they did not believe God or rely on His salvation.
അവർ ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയോ അവിടത്തെ കരുതലിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാതിരുന്നതിനാൽത്തന്നെ.
23 Yet He commanded the clouds above and opened the doors of the heavens.
എന്നിട്ടും അവിടന്ന് മീതേയുള്ള ആകാശത്തിന് ഒരു ആജ്ഞ കൊടുത്തു ആകാശത്തിന്റെ കവാടങ്ങൾ തുറന്നു;
24 He rained down manna for them to eat; He gave them grain from heaven.
അവിടന്ന് ജനത്തിന് ആഹാരമായി മന്ന പൊഴിച്ചു, സ്വർഗീയധാന്യം അവിടന്ന് അവർക്കു നൽകി.
25 Man ate the bread of angels; He sent them food in abundance.
അവിടന്ന് അവർക്ക് സമൃദ്ധിയായി അയച്ചുകൊടുത്ത ശക്തരുടെ ആഹാരം മനുഷ്യർ ആസ്വദിച്ചു.
26 He stirred the east wind from the heavens and drove the south wind by His might.
അവിടന്ന് ആകാശത്തിൽനിന്ന് കിഴക്കൻകാറ്റിനെ അഴിച്ചുവിട്ടു അവിടത്തെ ശക്തിയാൽ തെക്കൻകാറ്റ് ആഞ്ഞുവീശുകയും ചെയ്തു.
27 He rained meat on them like dust, and winged birds like the sand of the sea.
അവരുടെമേൽ അവിടന്ന് പൊടിപോലെ മാംസവും കടൽത്തീരത്തെ മണൽത്തരിപോലെ പക്ഷികളെയും വർഷിപ്പിച്ചു.
28 He felled them in the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings.
അവയെ അവരുടെ പാളയത്തിലേക്ക്, അവരുടെ കൂടാരത്തിനുചുറ്റം പറന്നിറങ്ങുമാറാക്കി.
29 So they ate and were well filled, for He gave them what they craved.
മതിയാകുവോളം അവർ ഭക്ഷിച്ചു; അവർ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതുതന്നെ അവിടന്ന് അവർക്ക് നൽകി.
30 Yet before they had filled their desire, with the food still in their mouths,
എന്നാൽ അവർ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച ഭക്ഷണം ഭക്ഷിച്ചു തൃപ്തരാകുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ്, അത് അവരുടെ വായിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ,
31 God’s anger flared against them, and He put to death their strongest and subdued the young men of Israel.
ദൈവകോപം അവർക്കുനേരേ ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവരിലെ കായബലമുള്ളവരെ മരണത്തിനേൽപ്പിച്ചു, ഇസ്രായേലിലെ യുവനിരയെത്തന്നെ അവിടന്ന് ഛേദിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
32 In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; despite His wonderful works, they did not believe.
എന്നിട്ടുമവർ പാപത്തിൽത്തന്നെ തുടർന്നു; അവിടത്തെ അത്ഭുതങ്ങൾ കണ്ടിട്ടും അവർ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല.
33 So He ended their days in futility, and their years in sudden terror.
അതിനാൽ അവരുടെ ആയുസ്സ് വ്യർഥമായി അവസാനിക്കുന്നതിനും അവരുടെ സംവത്സരങ്ങൾ ഭീതിയിലാണ്ടുപോകുന്നതിനും അവിടന്ന് സംഗതിയാക്കി.
34 When He slew them, they would seek Him; they repented and searched for God.
എപ്പോഴൊക്കെ ദൈവം അവരെ സംഹരിച്ചോ, അപ്പോഴെല്ലാം അവർ അവിടത്തെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു; വളരെ ഗൗരവതരമായിത്തന്നെ അവർ ദൈവത്തെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു.
35 And they remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer.
ദൈവമായിരുന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ പാറ എന്നും അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവമാണ് തങ്ങളുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരൻ എന്നും അവർ ഓർത്തു.
36 But they deceived Him with their mouths, and lied to Him with their tongues.
എന്നാൽ തങ്ങളുടെ വാകൊണ്ട് അവർ ദൈവത്തോട് മുഖസ്തുതി പറയുകയും നാവുകൊണ്ട് അവർ അവിടത്തോടു വ്യാജം പറയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു;
37 Their hearts were disloyal to Him, and they were unfaithful to His covenant.
അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം അവിടത്തോട് കൂറുപുലർത്തിയില്ല, അവിടത്തെ ഉടമ്പടിയോട് അവർ വിശ്വസ്തരായിരുന്നതുമില്ല.
38 And yet He was compassionate; He forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them. He often restrained His anger and did not unleash His full wrath.
എന്നിട്ടും ദൈവം അവരോട് കരുണയുള്ളവനായിരുന്നു; അവരുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങൾ അവിടന്ന് ക്ഷമിച്ചു അവിടന്ന് അവരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചതുമില്ല. തന്റെ ക്രോധം മുഴുവനും ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കാതെ പലപ്പോഴും തന്റെ കോപത്തെ അടക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
39 He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return.
അവർ കേവലം മാംസംമാത്രം, മടങ്ങിവരാത്തൊരു മന്ദമാരുതൻ എന്ന് അവിടന്ന് ഓർത്തു.
40 How often they disobeyed Him in the wilderness and grieved Him in the desert!
എത്രയോവട്ടം അവർ മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ച് ദൈവത്തിനെതിരേ മത്സരിച്ചു വിജനദേശത്തുവെച്ച് എത്രയോതവണ അവിടത്തെ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു!
41 Again and again they tested God and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
അവർ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു; ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ വിഷമിപ്പിച്ചു.
42 They did not remember His power — the day He redeemed them from the adversary,
അവിടത്തെ ശക്തി അവർ ഓർത്തില്ല— പീഡകരിൽനിന്നും തങ്ങളെ വീണ്ടെടുത്ത ദിവസവും
43 when He performed His signs in Egypt and His wonders in the fields of Zoan.
ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ അവിടന്നു ചെയ്ത ചിഹ്നങ്ങളും സോവാൻ സമഭൂമിയിലെ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും അവർ ഓർത്തില്ല.
44 He turned their rivers to blood, and from their streams they could not drink.
അവരുടെ നദികളെ അവിടന്ന് രക്തമാക്കി; അവരുടെ അരുവികളിൽനിന്ന് അവർക്ക് കുടിക്കാൻ കഴിയാതെയുമായി.
45 He sent swarms of flies that devoured them, and frogs that devastated them.
അവരെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയേണ്ടതിന് അവിടന്ന് ഈച്ചകളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തെ അയച്ചു, തവളക്കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ അവർക്കിടയിൽ നാശം വിതച്ചു.
46 He gave their crops to the grasshopper, the fruit of their labor to the locust.
അവരുടെ കൃഷി അവിടന്ന് വിട്ടിലിന് ആഹാരമായും അവരുടെ വിളകൾ വെട്ടുക്കിളികൾക്കും നൽകി.
47 He killed their vines with hailstones and their sycamore-figs with sleet.
അവിടന്ന് അവരുടെ മുന്തിരിത്തലകൾ കന്മഴകൊണ്ടു നശിപ്പിക്കുകയും അവരുടെ കാട്ടത്തികളെ ആലിപ്പഴംകൊണ്ടു മൂടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
48 He abandoned their cattle to the hail and their livestock to bolts of lightning.
കന്മഴകൊണ്ട് അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലിക്കൂട്ടങ്ങളെ തകർത്തു, അവരുടെ മൃഗസമ്പത്ത് ഇടിമിന്നലിന് ഇരയായി.
49 He unleashed His fury against them, wrath, indignation, and calamity— a band of destroying angels.
അങ്ങയുടെ കോപം അവരുടെമേൽ ആളിക്കത്തി, കുപിതനായ അങ്ങ് അവർക്കുനേരേ, ക്രോധം, അപമാനം, ശത്രുത, എന്നിവയുടെ സംഹാരദൂതഗണത്തെ അഴിച്ചുവിട്ടു.
50 He cleared a path for His anger; He did not spare them from death but delivered their lives to the plague.
അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ കോപത്തിനൊരു വഴിതുറന്നു; അവരുടെ ജീവനെ മരണത്തിൽനിന്നു മാറ്റിനിർത്തിയില്ല, എന്നാൽ അവരെ അവിടന്ന് മഹാമാരിക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
51 He struck all the firstborn of Egypt, the virility in the tents of Ham.
ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ എല്ലാ ആദ്യജാതന്മാരെയും അവിടന്ന് സംഹരിച്ചു, ഹാമിന്റെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലെ പൗരുഷത്തിന്റെ പ്രഥമസന്തതികളെത്തന്നെ.
52 He led out His people like sheep and guided them like a flock in the wilderness.
എന്നാൽ അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ ജനത്തെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റത്തെപ്പോലെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; മരുഭൂമിയിലൂടെ ആടുകളെയെന്നപോലെ അവിടന്ന് അവരെ നടത്തി.
53 He led them safely, so they did not fear, but the sea engulfed their enemies.
അവിടന്ന് അവരെ സുരക്ഷിതരായി നയിച്ചു, അതുകൊണ്ട് അവർക്ക് ഭയം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; എന്നാൽ സമുദ്രം അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
54 He brought them to His holy land, to the mountain His right hand had acquired.
അങ്ങനെ അവിടന്ന് അവരെ വിശുദ്ധനാടിന്റെ അതിരിലേക്ക് ആനയിച്ചു, അവിടത്തെ വലതുകരം അധീനപ്പെടുത്തിയ മലനിരകളിലേക്കുതന്നെ.
55 He drove out nations before them and apportioned their inheritance; He settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.
അവരുടെമുമ്പിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ജനതകളെ അവിടന്ന് തുരത്തിയോടിച്ചു അവരുടെ ദേശത്തെ ഒരവകാശമായി അവർക്ക് അളന്നുകൊടുത്തു; ഇസ്രായേൽ ഗോത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് അവരുടെ ഭവനങ്ങളിൽ വാസമുറപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
56 But they tested and disobeyed God Most High, for they did not keep His decrees.
എങ്കിലും അവർ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു അത്യുന്നതനെതിരേ മത്സരിച്ചു; അവർ അവിടത്തെ നിയമവ്യവസ്ഥകൾ പിൻതുടർന്നതുമില്ല.
57 They turned back and were faithless like their fathers, twisted like a faulty bow.
അവരുടെ പൂർവികരെപ്പോലെ അവർ വിശ്വാസഘാതകരായി പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞു കോട്ടമുള്ള വില്ലുപോലെ അവർ വഞ്ചകരായിത്തീർന്നു.
58 They enraged Him with their high places and provoked His jealousy with their idols.
തങ്ങളുടെ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾകൊണ്ട് അവർ അവിടത്തെ പ്രകോപിപ്പിച്ചു; തങ്ങളുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളാൽ അവർ അവിടത്തെ അസഹിഷ്ണുതയുള്ളവനാക്കി.
59 On hearing it, God was furious and rejected Israel completely.
ദൈവം ഇതു കേട്ടു, കോപംകൊണ്ടുനിറഞ്ഞു; ഇസ്രായേലിനെ നിശ്ശേഷം തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
60 He abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent He had pitched among men.
അവിടന്ന് ശീലോവിലെ സമാഗമകൂടാരത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു, അവിടന്ന് മനുഷ്യരുടെയിടയിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ച കൂടാരത്തെത്തന്നെ.
61 He delivered His strength to captivity, and His splendor to the hand of the adversary.
അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ ശക്തിയുടെ പ്രതീകമായ കൂടാരത്തെ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കും തന്റെ മഹത്ത്വത്തെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കരങ്ങളിലേക്കും ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
62 He surrendered His people to the sword because He was enraged by His heritage.
സ്വജനത്തെ അവിടന്ന് വാൾത്തലയ്ക്ക് വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു; അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ അവകാശത്തോട് രോഷാകുലനായി.
63 Fire consumed His young men, and their maidens were left without wedding songs.
അവരുടെ യുവാക്കന്മാരെ അഗ്നി വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞു, അവരുടെ യുവതികൾക്ക് വിവാഹഗീതങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടായതുമില്ല;
64 His priests fell by the sword, but their widows could not lament.
അവരുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ വാളിനിരയായി, അവരുടെ വിധവമാർക്കു വിലപിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞതുമില്ല.
65 Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a mighty warrior overcome by wine.
അപ്പോൾ കർത്താവ് തന്റെ നിദ്രവിട്ടുണർന്നു, മദ്യലഹരിവിട്ട് ഒരു യോദ്ധാവ് ഉണരുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ.
66 He beat back His foes; He put them to everlasting shame.
അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ ശത്രുക്കൾക്ക് തിരിച്ചടിനൽകി; അവരെ എന്നെന്നേക്കുമായി ലജ്ജയിലേക്കു തള്ളിവിട്ടു.
67 He rejected the tent of Joseph and refused the tribe of Ephraim.
എന്നാൽ അവിടന്ന് യോസേഫിന്റെ കൂടാരത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു, എഫ്രയീംഗോത്രത്തെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല;
68 But He chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loved.
എന്നാൽ അവിടന്ന് യെഹൂദാഗോത്രത്തെ, താൻ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്ന സീയോൻപർവതത്തെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.
69 He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth He has established forever.
അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ തിരുനിവാസം അത്യുന്നതങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു, താൻ എന്നേക്കുമായി സ്ഥാപിച്ച ഭൂമിയെ എന്നപോലെതന്നെ.
70 He chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds;
അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു, ആട്ടിൻതൊഴുത്തിൽനിന്നുതന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ എടുത്തു;
71 from tending the ewes He brought him to be shepherd of His people Jacob, of Israel His inheritance.
