Psalms 76
1 For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A song. God is known in Judah; His name is great in Israel.
Per il Capo de’ Musici. Per strumenti a corda. Salmo di Asaf. Canto. Iddio è conosciuto in Giuda; il suo nome è grande in Israele.
2 His tent is in Salem, His dwelling place in Zion.
Il suo tabernacolo e in Salem, e la sua dimora in Sion.
3 There He shattered the flaming arrows, the shield and sword and weapons of war.
Quivi ha spezzato le saette dell’arco, lo scudo, la spada e gli arnesi di guerra. (Sela)
4 You are resplendent with light, more majestic than mountains filled with game.
Tremendo sei tu, o Potente, quando ritorni dalle montagne di preda.
5 The valiant lie plundered; they sleep their last sleep. No men of might could lift a hand.
Gli animosi sono stati spogliati, han dormito il loro ultimo sonno, e tutti gli uomini prodi sono stati ridotti all’impotenza.
6 At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both horse and rider lie stunned.
Alla tua minaccia, o Dio di Giacobbe, carri e cavalli sono stati presi da torpore.
7 You alone are to be feared. When You are angry, who can stand before You?
Tu, tu sei tremendo; e chi può reggere davanti a te quando t’adiri?
8 From heaven You pronounced judgment, and the earth feared and was still
Dal cielo facesti udir la tua sentenza; la terra temette e tacque,
9 when God rose up to judge, to save all the lowly of the earth.
quando Iddio si levò per far giudicio, per salvare tutti gl’infelici della terra. (Sela)
10 Even the wrath of man shall praise You; with the survivors of wrath You will clothe Yourself.
Certo, il furore degli uomini ridonderà alla tua lode; ti cingerai degli ultimi avanzi dei loro furori.
11 Make and fulfill your vows to the LORD your God; let all the neighboring lands bring tribute to Him who is to be feared.
Fate voti all’Eterno, all’Iddio vostro, e adempiteli; tutti quelli che gli stanno attorno portin doni al Tremendo.
12 He breaks the spirits of princes; He is feared by the kings of the earth.
Egli recide lo spirito dei principi, egli è tremendo ai re della terra.
