Psalms 52

1 For the choirmaster. A Maskil of David. After Doeg the Edomite went to Saul and told him, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The loving devotion of God endures all day long.

Dem Sangmeister. Eine Unterweisung von David. Da Doeg, der Edomiter, kam, und Saul ansagte und sprach zu ihm: David ist in Achimelechs Haus gekommen. Was rühmst du dich des Bösen, o Mächtiger? die Barmherzigkeit Gottes ist alle Tage.

2 Your tongue devises destruction like a sharpened razor, O worker of deceit.

Unheil denkt deine Zunge, wie ein scharfes Schermesser tust du Trug.

3 You love evil more than good, falsehood more than speaking truth.

Du liebst Böses mehr denn Gutes; Lüge mehr denn gerecht reden. (Selah)

4 You love every word that devours, O deceitful tongue.

Du liebst des Verschlingens Worte alle, die Zunge des Trugs.

5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent; He will uproot you from the land of the living.

Darum wird dich Gott zertrümmern auf immerdar, dich zerbrechen und dich aus dem Zelte hinraffen, entwurzeln aus dem Lande der Lebendigen. (Selah)

6 The righteous will see and fear; they will mock the evildoer, saying,

Und sehen werden es die Gerechten und sich fürchten und lachen über ihn.

7 “Look at the man who did not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his wealth and strengthened himself by destruction.”

Siehe den Mann, der Gott nicht zur Stärke setzte, der auf seinen vielen Reichtum vertraute, der stark war in seinem Unheil.

8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in the loving devotion of God forever and ever.

Ich aber bin wie ein grünender Ölbaum in Gottes Haus, vertraue auf die Barmherzigkeit Gottes ewiglich und immerfort.

9 I will praise You forever, because You have done it. I will wait on Your name— for it is good— in the presence of Your saints.

Ich will Dich bekennen ewiglich, daß Du es getan, und hoffen auf Deinen Namen; denn gut bist Du vor Deinen Heiligen.
