Psalms 52

1 For the choirmaster. A Maskil of David. After Doeg the Edomite went to Saul and told him, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The loving devotion of God endures all day long.

Dem Vorsänger. Eine Unterweisung von David. Als Doeg, der Edomiter, kam und Saul anzeigte: David ist in das Haus Achimelechs gegangen! Was rühmst du dich der Gnade Gottes den ganzen Tag, der du in der Bosheit stark bist?

2 Your tongue devises destruction like a sharpened razor, O worker of deceit.

Deine Zunge trachtet nach Schaden; wie ein scharfes Schermesser, so heimtückisch ist sie.

3 You love evil more than good, falsehood more than speaking truth.

Du ziehst das Böse dem Guten vor, sprichst lieber schlecht als recht! (Pause)

4 You love every word that devours, O deceitful tongue.

Du redest gerne so, als wolltest du alles verschlingen, du Lügenmaul!

5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent; He will uproot you from the land of the living.

Gott wird dich auch noch stürzen, und zwar für immer, er wird dich wegraffen, herausreißen aus dem Zelte und dich ausrotten aus dem Lande der Lebendigen! (Pause)

6 The righteous will see and fear; they will mock the evildoer, saying,

Das werden die Gerechten sehen mit Entsetzen und über ihn lachen:

7 “Look at the man who did not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his wealth and strengthened himself by destruction.”

Seht, das ist der Mann, der Gott nicht zu seiner Zuflucht machte, sondern sich auf seinen großen Reichtum verließ und durch seine Habgier mächtig ward!

8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in the loving devotion of God forever and ever.

Ich aber bin wie ein grüner Ölbaum im Hause Gottes; ich vertraue auf Gottes Gnade immer und ewiglich.

9 I will praise You forever, because You have done it. I will wait on Your name— for it is good— in the presence of Your saints.

Ich preise dich ewiglich für das, was du getan, und hoffe auf deinen Namen, weil er so gut ist, angesichts deiner Frommen.
