Psalms 19
1 For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Au maître-chantre. — Psaume de David. Les cieux racontent la gloire de Dieu, Et le firmament proclame l'oeuvre de ses mains.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
Le jour en parle au jour, Et la nuit en donne connaissance à la nuit.
3 Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard,
Ce n'est pas un langage, ce ne sont pas des paroles: On n'entend pas leur voix.
4 their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun.
Cependant, leurs accords parcourent la terre entière, Et leurs accents vont jusqu'aux extrémités du monde. Là, Dieu a dressé un pavillon pour le soleil,
5 Like a bridegroom emerging from his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course,
Qui, semblable à un époux sortant de sa chambre nuptiale, Se réjouit, comme un héros, de parcourir sa carrière.
6 it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.
Il part de l'une des extrémités du ciel, Et, sa course s'achève à l'autre extrémité: Rien ne se dérobe à sa chaleur.
7 The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making wise the simple.
La loi de l'Éternel est parfaite: elle restaure l'âme. Les enseignements de l'Éternel sont vrais: Ils donnent de la sagesse aux simples.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
Les préceptes de l'Éternel sont droits: Ils réjouissent le coeur. Les commandements de l'Éternel sont une lumière: Ils éclairent les yeux.
9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true, being altogether righteous.
La crainte de l'Éternel purifie: Elle subsiste à perpétuité. Les jugements de l'Éternel ne sont que vérité: Ils sont tous également justes;
10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.
Ils sont plus désirables que l'or, même que beaucoup d'or fin, Plus doux que le miel, que le suc même des rayons de miel.
11 By them indeed Your servant is warned; in keeping them is great reward.
Aussi ton serviteur est-il éclairé par eux; Grande est la récompense de ceux qui les observent!
12 Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults.
Qui peut connaître ses erreurs? Pardonne-moi les fautes que j'ignore!
13 Keep Your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed of great transgression.
Préserve aussi ton serviteur des péchés volontaires: Que je ne sois pas leur esclave! Alors je serai sans reproche et pur de grands péchés.
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Que les paroles de ma bouche Et la méditation de mon coeur te soient agréables, O Éternel, mon rocher, mon rédempteur!
