< Psalms 137 >

1 By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion.
Ob rekah Babilonskih, ondi smo sedeli ter jokali, spominjajoč se Sijona.
2 There on the willows we hung our harps,
Na vrbe v deželi obesili smo strune svoje,
3 for there our captors requested a song; our tormentors demanded songs of joy: “Sing us a song of Zion.”
Dasì so tam hoteli od nas veselih pesmi, ki so nas odpeljavali vjete, in ki so mučili nas govoreč: Pojte nam katero pesmi Sijonskih.
4 How can we sing a song of the LORD in a foreign land?
Kako bi bili peli pesem Gospodovo v tujcev deželi?
5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand cease to function.
Če pozabim tebe, Jeruzalem, pozabi naj se desnica moja.
6 May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not exalt Jerusalem as my greatest joy!
Jezik moj naj se mi prijemlje neba, ako se ne spominjam tebe, ako ne povzdigujem Jeruzalema nad glavo radosti svoje.
7 Remember, O LORD, the sons of Edom on the day Jerusalem fell: “Destroy it,” they said, “tear it down to its foundations!”
Spomni se, Gospod, zoper Edomejce dneva Jeruzalemskega; kateri so rekli: "Razvalite, razvalite; dokler bode kaj podzidja v njem!"
8 O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction, blessed is he who repays you as you have done to us.
Rod Babilonski naj se pokončá; blagor mu, kdor ti bode povrnil hudodelstvo, katero si nam storil.
9 Blessed is he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.
Blagor, kdor zgrabi in razdrobi otroke tvoje ob skalo!
