< Psalms 136 >

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good.
Alleluya. Knouleche ye to the Lord, for he is good, for his merci is withouten ende.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods.
Knouleche ye to the God of goddis.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords.
Knouleche ye to the Lord of lordis.
4 He alone does great wonders.
Which aloone makith grete merueils.
5 By His insight He made the heavens.
Which made heuenes bi vndurstondyng.
6 He spread out the earth upon the waters.
Which made stidefast erthe on watris.
7 He made the great lights—
Which made grete liytis.
8 the sun to rule the day,
The sunne in to the power of the dai.
9 the moon and stars to govern the night.
The moone and sterris in to the power of the niyt.
10 He struck down the firstborn of Egypt
Which smoot Egipt with the firste gendrid thingis of hem.
11 and brought Israel out from among them
Which ledde out Israel fro the myddil of hem.
12 with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm.
In a miyti hond and in an hiy arm.
13 He divided the Red Sea in two
Whiche departide the reed see in to departyngis.
14 and led Israel through the midst,
And ledde out Israel thoruy the myddil therof.
15 but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea.
And he `caste a down Farao and his pouer in the reed see.
16 He led His people through the wilderness.
Which ledde ouer his puple thoruy desert.
17 He struck down great kings
Which smoot grete kingis.
18 and slaughtered mighty kings—
And killide strong kingis.
19 Sihon king of the Amorites
Seon, the king of Amorreis.
20 and Og king of Bashan—
And Og, the king of Baasan.
21 and He gave their land as an inheritance,
And he yaf the lond of hem eritage.
22 a heritage to His servant Israel.
Eritage to Israel, his seruaunt.
23 He remembered us in our low estate
For in oure lownesse he hadde mynde on vs.
24 and freed us from our enemies.
And he ayenbouyte vs fro oure enemyes.
25 He gives food to every creature.
Which yyueth mete to ech fleisch. Knouleche ye to God of heuene.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven!
