< Psalms 129 >
1 A song of ascents. Many a time they have persecuted me from my youth— let Israel now declare—
Ko e Hiva ʻae ʻalu hake. ʻOku totonu ke lea ni ʻa ʻIsileli, Kuo liunga lahi ʻenau fakamamahiʻi au talu ʻeku kei talavou:
2 many a time they have persecuted me from my youth, but they have not prevailed against me.
“Kuo liunga lahi ʻenau fakamamahiʻi au talu ʻeku talavou: ka naʻe ʻikai tenau mālohi kiate au.
3 The plowmen plowed over my back; they made their furrows long.
Naʻe keli ʻae kau tangata keli ʻi hoku tuʻa: naʻa nau ngaohi ke lōloa ʻenau ngaahi keli.
4 The LORD is righteous; He has cut me from the cords of the wicked.
ʻOku angatonu ʻa Sihova: kuo tuʻusi ʻe ia ʻae ngaahi afo ʻae kakai angahala.”
5 May all who hate Zion be turned back in shame.
Tuku ke puputuʻu pea foki kimui ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku fehiʻa ki Saione.
6 May they be like grass on the rooftops, which withers before it can grow,
Tuku kenau tatau mo e mohuku ʻi he tatā ʻoe fale, ʻaia ʻoku mae ʻi he teʻeki ai ke lahi ia:
7 unable to fill the hands of the reaper, or the arms of the binder of sheaves.
ʻAia ʻoku ʻikai fakapito ʻaki ʻe he tangata tuʻusi ʻa hono nima; pe ko e fatafata ʻo ia ʻoku ne nonoʻo ʻae ngaahi ʻū mohuku.
8 May none who pass by say to them, “The blessing of the LORD be on you; we bless you in the name of the LORD.”
Pea ʻoku ʻikai lea ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻalu ʻi ai, ʻo pehē, “Ke ʻiate kimoutolu ʻae monūʻia meia Sihova: ʻoku mau tāpuaki ʻakimoutolu ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova.”
