Psalms 124

1 A song of ascents. Of David. If the LORD had not been on our side— let Israel now declare—

Pieśń stopni Dawida. Gdyby PAN nie był z nami, niech powie teraz Izrael;

2 if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,

Gdyby PAN nie był z nami, gdy ludzie powstawali przeciwko nam;

3 when their anger flared against us, then they would have swallowed us alive,

Wtedy połknęliby nas żywcem, gdy płonęli gniewem przeciwko nam;

4 then the floods would have engulfed us, then the torrent would have overwhelmed us,

Wtedy wody zalałyby nas, [a] potok porwałby nasze dusze;

5 then the raging waters would have swept us away.

Wtedy gwałtowne wody porwałyby nasze dusze.

6 Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.

Błogosławiony PAN, który nas nie wydał na pastwę ich zębom.

7 We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowler; the net is torn, and we have slipped away.

Nasza dusza umknęła jak ptak z sideł ptaszników; sidła się podarły, a my uciekliśmy.

8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Nasza pomoc jest w imieniu PANA, który stworzył niebo i ziemię.
