Psalms 106
1 Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever.
主をほめたたえよ。主に感謝せよ、主は恵みふかく、そのいつくしみはとこしえに絶えることがない。
2 Who can describe the mighty acts of the LORD or fully proclaim His praise?
だれが主の大能のみわざを語り、その誉をことごとく言いあらわすことができようか。
3 Blessed are those who uphold justice, who practice righteousness at all times.
公正を守る人々、常に正義を行う人はさいわいである。
4 Remember me, O LORD, in Your favor to Your people; visit me with Your salvation,
主よ、あなたがその民を恵まれるとき、わたしを覚えてください。あなたが彼らを救われるとき、わたしを助けてください。
5 that I may see the prosperity of Your chosen ones, and rejoice in the gladness of Your nation, and give glory with Your inheritance.
そうすれば、わたしはあなたの選ばれた者の繁栄を見、あなたの国民の喜びをよろこび、あなたの嗣業と共に誇ることができるでしょう。
6 We have sinned like our fathers; we have done wrong and acted wickedly.
われらは先祖たちと同じく罪を犯した。われらは不義をなし、悪しきことを行った。
7 Our fathers in Egypt did not grasp Your wonders or remember Your abundant kindness; but they rebelled by the sea, there at the Red Sea.
われらの先祖たちはエジプトにいたとき、あなたのくすしきみわざに心を留めず、あなたのいつくしみの豊かなのを思わず、紅海で、いと高き神にそむいた。
8 Yet He saved them for the sake of His name, to make His power known.
けれども主はその大能を知らせようと、み名のために彼らを救われた。
9 He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; He led them through the depths as through a desert.
主は紅海をしかって、それをかわかし、彼らを導いて荒野を行くように、淵を通らせられた。
10 He saved them from the hand that hated them; He redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
こうして主は彼らをあだの手から救い、敵の力からあがなわれた。
11 The waters covered their foes; not one of them remained.
水が彼らのあだをおおったので、そのうち、ひとりも生き残った者はなかった。
12 Then they believed His promises and sang His praise.
このとき彼らはそのみ言葉を信じ、その誉を歌った。
13 Yet they soon forgot His works and failed to wait for His counsel.
しかし彼らはまもなくそのみわざを忘れ、その勧めを待たず、
14 They craved intensely in the wilderness and tested God in the desert.
野でわがままな欲望を起し、荒野で神を試みた。
15 So He granted their request, but sent a wasting disease upon them.
主は彼らにその求めるものを与えられたが、彼らのうちに病気を送って、やせ衰えさせられた。
16 In the camp they envied Moses, as well as Aaron, the holy one of the LORD.
人々が宿営のうちでモーセをねたみ、主の聖者アロンをねたんだとき、
17 The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it covered the assembly of Abiram.
地が開けてダタンを飲み、アビラムの仲間をおおった。
18 Then fire blazed through their company; flames consumed the wicked.
火はまたこの仲間のうちに燃え起り、炎は悪しき者を焼きつくした。
19 At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped a molten image.
彼らはホレブで子牛を造り、鋳物の像を拝んだ。
20 They exchanged their Glory for the image of a grass-eating ox.
彼らは神の栄光を草を食う牛の像と取り替えた。
21 They forgot God their Savior, who did great things in Egypt,
22 wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
彼らは、エジプトで大いなる事をなし、ハムの地でくすしきみわざをなし、紅海のほとりで恐るべき事をなされた救主なる神を忘れた。
23 So He said He would destroy them— had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach to divert His wrath from destroying them.
それゆえ、主は彼らを滅ぼそうと言われた。しかし主のお選びになったモーセは破れ口で主のみ前に立ち、み怒りを引きかえして、滅びを免れさせた。
24 They despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His promise.
彼らは麗しい地を侮り、主の約束を信ぜず、
25 They grumbled in their tents and did not listen to the voice of the LORD.
またその天幕でつぶやき、主のみ声に聞き従わなかった。
26 So He raised His hand and swore to cast them down in the wilderness,
それゆえ、主はみ手をあげて、彼らに誓い、彼らを荒野で倒れさせ、
27 to disperse their offspring among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands.
またその子孫を、もろもろの国民のうちに追い散らし、もろもろの地に彼らをまき散らそうとされた。
28 They yoked themselves to Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods.
また彼らはペオルのバアルを慕って、死んだ者にささげた、いけにえを食べた。
29 So they provoked the LORD to anger with their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.
彼らはそのおこないをもって主を怒らせたので、彼らのうちに疫病が起った。
30 But Phinehas stood and intervened, and the plague was restrained.
その時ピネハスが立って仲裁にはいったので、疫病はやんだ。
31 It was credited to him as righteousness for endless generations to come.
これによってピネハスはよろず代まで、とこしえに義とされた。
32 At the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them.
彼らはまたメリバの水のほとりで主を怒らせたので、モーセは彼らのために災にあった。
33 For they rebelled against His Spirit, and Moses spoke rashly with his lips.
これは彼らが神の霊にそむいたとき、彼がそのくちびるで軽率なことを言ったからである。
34 They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them,
彼らは主が命じられたもろもろの民を滅ぼさず、
35 but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs.
かえってもろもろの国民とまじってそのわざにならい、
36 They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them.
自分たちのわなとなった偶像に仕えた。
37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.
彼らはそのむすこ、娘たちを悪霊にささげ、
38 They shed innocent blood— the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.
罪のない血、すなわちカナンの偶像にささげたそのむすこ、娘たちの血を流した。こうして国は血で汚された。
39 They defiled themselves by their actions and prostituted themselves by their deeds.
このように彼らはそのわざによっておのれを汚し、そのおこないによって姦淫をなした。
40 So the anger of the LORD burned against His people, and He abhorred His own inheritance.
それゆえ、主の怒りがその民にむかって燃え、その嗣業を憎んで、
41 He delivered them into the hand of the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them.
彼らをもろもろの国民の手にわたされた。彼らはおのれを憎む者に治められ、
42 Their enemies oppressed them, and subdued them under their hand.
その敵にしえたげられ、その力の下に征服された。
43 Many times He rescued them, but they were bent on rebellion and sank down in their iniquity.
主はしばしば彼らを助けられたが、彼らははかりごとを設けてそむき、その不義によって低くされた。
44 Nevertheless He heard their cry; He took note of their distress.
それにもかかわらず、主は彼らの叫びを聞かれたとき、その悩みをかえりみ、
45 And He remembered His covenant with them, and relented by the abundance of His loving devotion.
その契約を彼らのために思い出し、そのいつくしみの豊かなるにより、みこころを変えられ、
46 He made them objects of compassion to all who held them captive.
彼らをとりこにした者どもによって、あわれまれるようにされた。
47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to Your holy name, that we may glory in Your praise.
われらの神、主よ、われらを救って、もろもろの国民のなかから集めてください。われらはあなたの聖なるみ名に感謝し、あなたの誉を誇るでしょう。
48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, “Amen!” Hallelujah!
イスラエルの神、主はとこしえからとこしえまでほむべきかな。すべての民は「アァメン」ととなえよ。主をほめたたえよ。
