< Proverbs 29 >

1 A man who remains stiff-necked after much reproof will suddenly be shattered beyond recovery.
Ẹni tí ó sì ń ṣorí kunkun lẹ́yìn ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ìbáwí yóò parun lójijì láìsí àtúnṣe.
2 When the righteous flourish, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
Nígbà tí olódodo bá ń gbilẹ̀, àwọn ènìyàn a yọ̀ nígbà tí ènìyàn búburú ń ṣàkóso, àwọn ènìyàn ń kórìíra.
3 A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
Ènìyàn tí ó fẹ́ràn ọgbọ́n mú kí baba rẹ̀ láyọ̀ ṣùgbọ́n ẹni ti ń bá panṣágà kẹ́gbẹ́ ba ọrọ̀ ọ rẹ̀ jẹ́.
4 By justice a king brings stability to the land, but a man who exacts tribute demolishes it.
Nípa ìdájọ́ òdodo ni ọba fi í mú ìlú tòrò nini, ṣùgbọ́n èyí tí ń ṣe ojúkòkòrò àbẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ fà á lulẹ̀.
5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.
Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá tan aládùúgbò rẹ̀ ó ń dẹ àwọ̀n de ẹsẹ̀ ẹ rẹ̀.
6 An evil man is caught by his own sin, but a righteous one sings and rejoices.
Ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ènìyàn ibi ni ó jẹ́ ìdẹ̀kùn rẹ̀ ṣùgbọ́n olódodo le è kọrin kí ó sì máa yọ̀.
7 The righteous consider the cause of the poor, but the wicked have no regard for such concerns.
Olódodo ń máa ro ọ̀rọ̀ tálákà, ṣùgbọ́n ènìyàn búburú kò sú sí i láti rò ó.
8 Mockers inflame a city, but the wise turn away anger.
Àwọn ẹlẹ́yà a máa ru ìlú sókè, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn máa ń mú ìbínú kúrò.
9 If a wise man goes to court with a fool, there will be raving and laughing with no resolution.
Bí ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn bá lọ sí ilé ẹjọ́ pẹ̀lú aláìgbọ́n aláìgbọ́n a máa bínú a sì máa jà, kò sì ní sí àlàáfíà.
10 Men of bloodshed hate a blameless man, but the upright care for his life.
Àwọn tí ó ń tàjẹ̀ sílẹ̀ kò rí ẹni dídúró ṣinṣin wọ́n sì ń wá ọ̀nà láti pa olódodo.
11 A fool vents all his anger, but a wise man holds it back.
Aláìgbọ́n ènìyàn fi gbogbo ẹnu rẹ̀ bínú ṣùgbọ́n ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn a máa kó ìbínú rẹ̀ ní ìjánu.
12 If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials will be wicked.
Bí olórí bá fetí sí irọ́, gbogbo àwọn ìjòyè rẹ̀ a di ènìyàn búburú lójú rẹ̀.
13 The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
Tálákà ènìyàn àti aninilára jọ ní àbùdá yìí, Olúwa jẹ́ kí ojú àwọn méjèèjì máa ríran.
14 A king who judges the poor with fairness— his throne will be established forever.
Bí ọba kan bá ń ṣe ìdájọ́ tálákà pẹ̀lú òtítọ́ ìtẹ́ ìjọba rẹ yóò fìdímúlẹ̀ nígbà gbogbo.
15 A rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.
Ọ̀pá ìbániwí ń fún ni ní ọgbọ́n ṣùgbọ́n ọmọ tí a fi sílẹ̀ fúnra rẹ̀ a dójútì ìyá rẹ̀.
16 When the wicked thrive, rebellion increases; but the righteous will see their downfall.
Nígbà tí ènìyàn búburú ń gbilẹ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ náà ni ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ń gbilẹ̀ ṣùgbọ́n olódodo yóò rí ìṣubú wọn.
17 Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will bring delight to your soul.
Bá ọmọ rẹ wí, yóò sì fún ọ ní àlàáfíà yóò sì mú inú dídùn wá sí inú ọkàn rẹ.
18 Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the Law.
Níbi tí kò ti sí ìfihàn, àwọn ènìyàn a gbé ìgbé ayé àìbìkítà, ṣùgbọ́n ìbùkún ní fún àwọn tí ń pa òfin mọ́.
19 A servant cannot be corrected by words alone; though he understands, he will not respond.
A kò le fi ọ̀rọ̀ lásán kìlọ̀ fún ìránṣẹ́ bí ó tilẹ̀ yé e, kò ní kọbi ara sí i.
20 Do you see a man who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
Ǹjẹ́ ó rí ènìyàn tí ń kánjú sọ̀rọ̀? Ìrètí wà fún aláìgbọ́n jù ú lọ.
21 A servant pampered from his youth will bring grief in the end.
Bí ènìyàn kan bá kẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ lákẹ̀ẹ́jù láti kékeré yóò mú ìbànújẹ́ wá ní ìgbẹ̀yìn.
22 An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered man abounds in transgression.
Oníbìínú ènìyàn a ru ìjà sókè, onínú-fùfù ènìyàn a sì máa dá ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀.
23 A man’s pride will bring him low, but a humble spirit will obtain honor.
Ìgbéraga ènìyàn a máa sọ ọ́ di ẹni ilẹ̀ ṣùgbọ́n onírẹ̀lẹ̀ ènìyàn a máa gba iyì kún iyì.
24 A partner to a thief hates his own soul; he receives the oath, but does not testify.
Ẹni tí ó ń kó ẹgbẹ́, olè kórìíra ọkàn ara rẹ̀, ó ń gbọ́ èpè olóhun kò sì le è fọhùn.
25 The fear of man is a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is set securely on high.
Ìbẹ̀rù ènìyàn kan yóò sì di ìdẹ̀kùn ṣùgbọ́n ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bẹ̀rù Olúwa wà láìléwu.
26 Many seek the ruler’s favor, but a man receives justice from the LORD.
Ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ni ń wá ojúrere alákòóso, ṣùgbọ́n láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa ni ènìyàn tí ń gba ìdájọ́ òdodo.
27 An unjust man is detestable to the righteous, and one whose way is upright is detestable to the wicked.
Olódodo kórìíra àwọn aláìṣòótọ́: ènìyàn búburú kórìíra olódodo.
