< Proverbs 29 >
1 A man who remains stiff-necked after much reproof will suddenly be shattered beyond recovery.
Moun k'ap fè tèt di lè y'ap rale zòrèy yo, se moun k'ap rete konsa y'ap tonbe san yo pa ka leve ankò.
2 When the righteous flourish, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
Lè se moun serye ki chèf, pèp la kontan. Men, lè se yon mechan k'ap gouvènen, pèp la nan lapenn.
3 A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
W'ap fè kè papa ou kontan si ou toujou ap chache bon konprann. Moun k'ap frekante jennès, se lajan l' l'ap gaspiye.
4 By justice a king brings stability to the land, but a man who exacts tribute demolishes it.
Lè yon wa pa nan patipri, peyi a kanpe byen fèm. Men, depi yon chèf nan resevwa lajan sou kote, se fini l'ap fini ak peyi a.
5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.
Moun k'ap flate moun, se yon pèlen y'ap pare sou wout yo.
6 An evil man is caught by his own sin, but a righteous one sings and rejoices.
Moun mechan pran nan mechanste y'ap fè. Men, moun ki mache dwat yo gen kè kontan, y'ap fè fèt.
7 The righteous consider the cause of the poor, but the wicked have no regard for such concerns.
Moun ki mache dwat konnen pou l' respekte dwa pòv malere. Men, mechan an pa konnen bagay konsa.
8 Mockers inflame a city, but the wise turn away anger.
Moun ki pa gen respè pou lòt ap mache simen kont nan tout peyi a. Men moun ki gen konprann konnen pou l' kontwole tèt li lè li fache.
9 If a wise man goes to court with a fool, there will be raving and laughing with no resolution.
Lè moun ki gen konprann al nan leta ak moun fou, fache pa fache anyen p'ap regle.
10 Men of bloodshed hate a blameless man, but the upright care for his life.
Depi yon moun serye, ansasen pa vle wè li. Men, moun ki mache dwat yo ap pwoteje l'.
11 A fool vents all his anger, but a wise man holds it back.
Lè moun fou ankòlè, li di sa ki vin nan bouch li. Men, moun ki gen bon konprann kontwole bouch li.
12 If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials will be wicked.
Lè yon chèf renmen tripotay, se mechan ase k'ap sèvi avè l'.
13 The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
Gen yon bagay ni pòv la ni moun k'ap peze l' la gen ansanm: se Bondye ki bay ni yonn ni lòt je pou yo wè.
14 A king who judges the poor with fairness— his throne will be established forever.
Lè yon wa pran kòz malere yo pou l' defann dwa yo san patipri, wa sa a la pou l' gouvènen lontan.
15 A rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.
Baton ki korije timoun ap ba yo konprann. Men, timoun yo kite fè sa yo pito gen pou fè manman yo wont.
16 When the wicked thrive, rebellion increases; but the righteous will see their downfall.
Lè mechan an rive chèf nan yon peyi, gen plis mechanste k'ap fèt. Men, moun k'ap mache dwat yo va wè jan mechan yo ap tonbe.
17 Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will bring delight to your soul.
Korije pitit gason ou lan, li p'ap ba ou tèt chaje. L'a fè kè ou kontan.
18 Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the Law.
Lè pa gen moun ki pou fè pèp la konnen sa pou l' fè, pèp la an debandad nèt. Men, ala bon sa bon pou moun k'ap fè sa lalwa mande!
19 A servant cannot be corrected by words alone; though he understands, he will not respond.
Pale anpil p'ap korije esklav. Menm lè li konprann, se pa sa k'ap fè l' obeyi.
20 Do you see a man who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
Gen plis espwa pou yon moun ki san konprann pase pou yon moun k'ap prese pale san kalkile.
21 A servant pampered from his youth will bring grief in the end.
Lè ou mou ak yon esklav depi li tou piti, rive yon lè l'ap konprann se pitit ou li ye.
22 An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered man abounds in transgression.
Moun ki ankòlè fasil toujou ap fè bagay yo pa dwe fè. Moun ki gen san wo toujou nan goumen.
23 A man’s pride will bring him low, but a humble spirit will obtain honor.
Awogans fè moun pèdi pye. Men, y'ap respekte moun ki soumèt devan Bondye.
24 A partner to a thief hates his own soul; he receives the oath, but does not testify.
Moun ki konplis yon vòlò, se moun ki rayi tèt li. Si li denonse vòlò a, y'ap pini l'. Si li pa denonse l', madichon Bondye ap tonbe sou li.
25 The fear of man is a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is set securely on high.
Si ou pè sa moun ap di, ou antrave. Men, si ou mete konfyans ou nan Seyè a, ou pa bezwen pè anyen.
26 Many seek the ruler’s favor, but a man receives justice from the LORD.
Anpil moun ap kouri dèyè favè chèf. Men, se Bondye k'ap jije tout moun san patipri.
27 An unjust man is detestable to the righteous, and one whose way is upright is detestable to the wicked.
Moun ki mache dwat pa vle wè mechan. Mechan pa vle wè moun k'ap mache dwat.
