Proverbs 28

1 The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

ആരും ഓടിക്കാനില്ലാതെതന്നെ ദുഷ്ടർ ഓടിപ്പോകുന്നു, എന്നാൽ നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ ഒരു സിംഹത്തെപ്പോലെ ധൈര്യസമേതം നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു.

2 A land in rebellion has many rulers, but a man of understanding and knowledge maintains order.

ഒരു രാജ്യം കലഹപൂർണമാകുമ്പോൾ നിരവധി പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു, എന്നാൽ വിവേകവും പരിജ്ഞാനവുമുള്ള ഭരണാധികാരി സുസ്ഥിരഭരണം കാഴ്ചവെക്കുന്നു.

3 A destitute leader who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no food.

അഗതികളെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദരിദ്രർ വിളയൊന്നുംതന്നെ ശേഷിപ്പിക്കാതെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പേമാരിപോലെയാണ്.

4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.

നിയമം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നവർ ദുഷ്ടരെ പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നു, എന്നാൽ നിയമം അനുസരിക്കുന്നവർ ദുഷ്ടരോട് എതിർക്കുന്നു.

5 Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD comprehend fully.

ദുഷ്ടർ നീതി എന്തെന്നു തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നില്ല, എന്നാൽ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവരെല്ലാം അതു സമ്പൂർണമായി മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നു.

6 Better a poor man who walks with integrity than a rich man whose ways are perverse.

വഴിപിഴച്ച ധനികരെക്കാൾ സത്യസന്ധരായി ജീവിക്കുന്ന ദരിദ്രരാണ് ശ്രേഷ്ഠം.

7 A discerning son keeps the law, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.

വിവേകമുള്ള സന്തതി നിയമം പാലിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ അമിതഭക്ഷണപ്രിയരുടെ സഹചാരി തന്റെ പിതാവിന് അപമാനം.

8 He who increases his wealth by interest and usury lays it up for one who is kind to the poor.

ഉയർന്ന പലിശയിലൂടെ ദരിദ്രരിൽനിന്നു ലാഭംകൊയ്യുന്നവരുടെ ധനം ദരിദ്രരോടു ദയാലുക്കളായവർക്കുവേണ്ടി ശേഖരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

9 Whoever turns his ear away from hearing the law, even his prayer is detestable.

ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിനെതിരേ ചെവി കൊട്ടിയടയ്ക്കുന്നവരുടെ പ്രാർഥനകൾപോലും അറപ്പുളവാക്കുന്നതാണ്.

10 He who leads the upright along the path of evil will fall into his own pit, but the blameless will inherit what is good.

നീതിനിഷ്ഠരെ ദുർമാർഗത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നവർ അവർ ഒരുക്കിവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കെണിയിൽത്തന്നെ വീഴും എന്നാൽ നിഷ്കളങ്കർക്കു നല്ല പൈതൃകസമ്പത്തു ലഭിക്കും.

11 A rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man with discernment sees through him.

താനൊരു ജ്ഞാനിയാണെന്ന് സമ്പന്നർ സ്വയം കരുതുന്നു; സമ്പന്നർ എത്ര മിഥ്യാബോധത്തിലാണെന്ന് വിവേകിയായ ദരിദ്രർ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നു.

12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory, but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.

നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ വിജയംകൊയ്യുമ്പോൾ മഹോത്സവം; എന്നാൽ നീചർ അധികാരത്തിലേറുമ്പോൾ ജനം ഓടിയൊളിക്കുന്നു.

13 He who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.

തങ്ങളുടെ പാപങ്ങൾ മറച്ചുവെക്കുന്നവർക്ക് അഭിവൃദ്ധിയുണ്ടാകുകയില്ല, എന്നാൽ അവ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞ് ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് കരുണ ലഭിക്കും.

14 Blessed is the man who is always reverent, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

എപ്പോഴും ഭയഭക്തിയോടെ കഴിയുന്ന മനുഷ്യർ അനുഗൃഹീതർ, എന്നാൽ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കുന്നവർ ആപത്തിലകപ്പെടും.

15 Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a helpless people.

നിസ്സഹായരായവരുടെമേൽ ആധിപത്യം പുലർത്തുന്ന ദുഷ്ടർ അലറുന്ന സിംഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും ആക്രമണത്തിനു മുതിരുന്ന കരടിയെപ്പോലെയും.

16 A leader who lacks judgment is also a great oppressor, but he who hates dishonest profit will prolong his days.

സ്വേച്ഛാധിപതിയായ ഭരണാധികാരി ജനങ്ങളുടെമേൽ അധികഭാരം ചുമത്തുന്നു, എന്നാൽ അനധികൃത ധനസമ്പാദനം വെറുക്കുന്നവർ ദീർഘകാലം ഭരണം നടത്തുന്നു.

17 A man burdened by bloodguilt will flee into the Pit; let no one support him.

കൊലപാതകംചെയ്തതിന്റെ മനോവ്യഥയാൽ പീഡിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നവർ പാതാളത്തിൽ അഭയംതേടും; ആരും അയാളെ പിന്തിരിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കട്ടെ.

18 He who walks with integrity will be kept safe, but whoever is perverse in his ways will suddenly fall.

നിഷ്കളങ്കരായി ജീവിക്കുന്നവർ സുരക്ഷിതരായിരിക്കും, എന്നാൽ, വഴിപിഴച്ച ജീവിതം നയിക്കുന്നവർ പെട്ടെന്നുതന്നെ നാശത്തിൽ അകപ്പെടും.

19 The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

സ്വന്തം കൃഷിയിടത്തിൽ അധ്വാനിക്കുന്നവർക്കു ധാരാളം ആഹാരം ലഭിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ദിവാസ്വപ്നങ്ങളുടെ പിന്നാലെ പായുന്നവർക്കു ദാരിദ്ര്യം കുമിഞ്ഞുകൂടും.

20 A faithful man will abound with blessings, but one eager to be rich will not go unpunished.

വിശ്വസ്തമനുഷ്യർ സമൃദ്ധമായി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും, എന്നാൽ സമ്പന്നരാകാൻ തിടുക്കം കാട്ടുന്നവർ ശിക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടാതെ പോകുകയില്ല.

21 To show partiality is not good, yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.

പക്ഷഭേദം കാണിക്കുന്നത് ഉചിതമല്ല— എന്നാൽ ഒരു കഷണം അപ്പത്തിനുവേണ്ടിപ്പോലും മനുഷ്യർ അനുചിതമായതു ചെയ്യും.

22 A stingy man hastens after wealth and does not know that poverty awaits him.

ലുബ്ധർ ധനികരാകാൻ വ്യഗ്രതകാണിക്കുന്നു അവരുടെ മുന്നേറ്റം ദാരിദ്ര്യത്തിലേക്കെന്ന് അറിയുന്നുപോലുമില്ല.

23 He who rebukes a man will later find more favor than one who flatters with his tongue.

മുഖസ്തുതി പറയുന്നവരെക്കാൾ ശാസിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് അവസാനം പ്രീതി ലഭിക്കുന്നു.

24 He who robs his father or mother, saying, “It is not wrong,” is a companion to the man who destroys.

മാതാപിതാക്കളെ കൊള്ളയടിച്ചിട്ട് “അതിലൊരു തെറ്റുമില്ല,” എന്നു പറയുന്നയാൾ നാശത്തിന്റെ പങ്കാളിയാണ്.

25 A greedy man stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.

അത്യാഗ്രഹി കലഹം ഇളക്കിവിടുന്നു, എന്നാൽ യഹോവയിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് അഭിവൃദ്ധിയുണ്ടാകും.

26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.

സ്വന്തം വിവേകത്തിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവർ ഭോഷരാകുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ജ്ഞാനത്തോടെ ജീവിക്കുന്നവർ സുരക്ഷിതരായിരിക്കും.

27 Whoever gives to the poor will not be in need, but he who hides his eyes will receive many curses.

ദരിദ്രർക്കു ദാനം നൽകുന്നവർക്കു യാതൊരുവിധ ദൗർലഭ്യവും ഉണ്ടാകുന്നില്ല, എന്നാൽ അവർക്കുനേരേ കണ്ണടയ്ക്കുന്നവർക്ക് ശാപവർഷം അനവധിയായി ഉണ്ടാകും.

28 When the wicked come to power, people hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous flourish.

നീചർ അധികാരത്തിലേറുമ്പോൾ ജനം ഓടിയൊളിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ നാശത്തിൽ നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ പെരുകുന്നു.
