< Proverbs 28 >

1 The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
Abakozi b’ebibi badduka nga tewali abagoba, naye abatuukirivu babeera n’obuvumu ng’empologoma.
2 A land in rebellion has many rulers, but a man of understanding and knowledge maintains order.
Eggwanga bwe lijeema, liba n’abafuzi bangi, naye olw’omuntu alina okutegeera n’okumanya obutebenkevu budda nate mu nsi.
3 A destitute leader who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no food.
Omufuzi anyigiriza abaavu, afaanana nga enkuba etonnya ezikiriza n’eterekaawo birime.
4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.
Abo abava ku mateeka ga Mukama batendereza aboonoonyi, naye abo abagakuuma babawakanya.
5 Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD comprehend fully.
Abantu abakozi b’ebibi tebategeera bwenkanya, naye abo abanoonya Mukama babutegeerera ddala bulungi.
6 Better a poor man who walks with integrity than a rich man whose ways are perverse.
Omuntu omwavu atambulira mu butuukirivu, asinga omugagga ow’amakubo amakyamu.
7 A discerning son keeps the law, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.
Oyo akuuma amateeka ga Mukama mwana eyeegendereza, naye mukwano gw’ab’omululu akwasa kitaawe ensonyi.
8 He who increases his wealth by interest and usury lays it up for one who is kind to the poor.
Ayongera ku bugagga bwe mu bukumpanya, abukuŋŋaanyiza omulala anaayinza okuba ow’ekisa eri abaavu.
9 Whoever turns his ear away from hearing the law, even his prayer is detestable.
Atassaayo mwoyo kuwulira mateeka ga Mukama, n’okusaba kwe tekukkirizibwa.
10 He who leads the upright along the path of evil will fall into his own pit, but the blameless will inherit what is good.
Buli akyamya abatuukirivu mu kkubo ebbi, aligwa mu katego ke ye, naye abatuukirivu balisikira ebirungi.
11 A rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man with discernment sees through him.
Omugagga alowooza nti mugezi, naye omwavu alina okutegeera, amunyooma.
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory, but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
Abatuukirivu bwe bawangula wabaawo okujaguza okw’amaanyi, naye abakakanyalira mu kukola ebikyamu bwe bafuna obuyinza abantu beekweka.
13 He who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.
Oyo akweka ebibi bye, talifuna mukisa kukulaakulana, naye buli abyatula n’abireka, alisaasirwa.
14 Blessed is the man who is always reverent, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.
Alina omukisa omuntu atya Mukama ebbanga lyonna, naye oyo akakanyaza omutima gwe abonaabona.
15 Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a helpless people.
Ng’empologoma ewuluguma oba eddubu eritiisatiisa, bw’abeera omufuzi omubi atulugunya abateesobola.
16 A leader who lacks judgment is also a great oppressor, but he who hates dishonest profit will prolong his days.
Omufuzi nantagambwako tafuga na bwenkanya, naye oyo akyawa amagoba agafuniddwa mu bukyamu alibeera n’essanyu ery’obulamu obuwangaazi.
17 A man burdened by bloodguilt will flee into the Pit; let no one support him.
Omuntu alumirizibwa olw’okutta munne, alibeera mu kutegana okutuusa okufa, tewabanga n’omu amuyamba.
18 He who walks with integrity will be kept safe, but whoever is perverse in his ways will suddenly fall.
Omuntu atambulira mu bugolokofu alinunulibwa talibeerako kabi, naye oyo ow’amakubo amabi aligwa mbagirawo.
19 The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
Omuntu alima ennimiro ye aliba n’emmere nnyingi, naye oyo ali mu birowoozo ebitaliimu alifa bwavu.
20 A faithful man will abound with blessings, but one eager to be rich will not go unpunished.
Omusajja omwesigwa aliweebwa emikisa mingi, naye oyo ayanguyiriza okugaggawala talirema kubonerezebwa.
21 To show partiality is not good, yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
Okuttira abantu ku liiso ng’osala emisango si kirungi, naye ate olw’okunoonya akookulya omuntu ayinza okuzza omusango.
22 A stingy man hastens after wealth and does not know that poverty awaits him.
Omusajja omukodo yeegomba okugaggawala, naye nga tamanyi nti obwavu bumulindiridde.
23 He who rebukes a man will later find more favor than one who flatters with his tongue.
Oyo anenya omuntu, oluvannyuma aliganja, okusinga oyo awaaniriza n’olulimi.
24 He who robs his father or mother, saying, “It is not wrong,” is a companion to the man who destroys.
Buli anyaga kitaawe, oba nnyina, n’agamba nti, “Si nsonga,” afaanana n’oyo azikiriza.
25 A greedy man stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
Omuntu ow’omululu aleeta oluyombo, naye oyo eyeesiga Mukama aligaggawazibwa.
26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.
Eyeesiga omutima gwe, musirusiru, naye oyo atambulira mu magezi alifuna emirembe.
27 Whoever gives to the poor will not be in need, but he who hides his eyes will receive many curses.
Agabira abaavu talibaako ne kye yeetaaga, naye abakodowalira anaabanga n’ebikolimo bingi.
28 When the wicked come to power, people hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous flourish.
Abakozi b’ebibi bwe babeera mu buyinza, abantu beekweka, naye abakozi b’ebibi bwe bazikirira, abatuukirivu bakulaakulana.
