Proverbs 24
1 Do not envy wicked men or desire their company;
Folge nicht bösen Leuten und wünsche nicht, bei ihnen zu sein.
2 for their hearts devise violence, and their lips declare trouble.
Denn ihr Herz trachtet nach Schaden, und ihre Lippen raten zu Unglück.
3 By wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established;
Durch Weisheit wird ein Haus gebauet und durch Verstand erhalten.
4 through knowledge its rooms are filled with every precious and beautiful treasure.
Durch ordentlich Haushalten werden die Kammern voll aller köstlichen, lieblichen Reichtümer.
5 A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge enhances his strength.
Ein weiser Mann ist stark und ein vernünftiger Mann ist mächtig von Kräften.
6 Only with sound guidance should you wage war, and victory lies in a multitude of counselors.
Denn mit Rat muß man Krieg führen; und wo viel Ratgeber sind, da ist der Sieg.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool; he does not open his mouth in the meeting place.
Weisheit ist dem Narren zu hoch; er darf seinen Mund im Tor nicht auftun.
8 He who plots evil will be called a schemer.
Wer ihm selbst Schaden tut, den heißt man billig einen Erzbösewicht.
9 A foolish scheme is sin, and a mocker is detestable to men.
Des Narren Tücke ist Sünde; und der Spötter ist ein Greuel vor den Leuten.
10 If you faint in the day of distress, how small is your strength!
Der ist nicht stark, der in der Not nicht fest ist.
11 Rescue those being led away to death, and restrain those stumbling toward the slaughter.
Errette die, so man töten will, und entzieh dich nicht von denen, die man würgen will.
12 If you say, “Behold, we did not know about this,” does not He who weighs hearts consider it? Does not the One who guards your life know? Will He not repay a man according to his deeds?
Sprichst du: Siehe, wir verstehen's nicht; meinest du nicht, der die Herzen weiß, merket es, und der auf die Seele acht hat, kennet es und vergilt dem Menschen nach seinem Werk?
13 Eat honey, my son, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to your taste.
Iß, mein Sohn, Honig, denn es ist gut, und Honigseim ist süß in deinem Halse.
14 Know therefore that wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, there is a future for you, and your hope will never be cut off.
Also lerne die Weisheit für deine Seele. Wenn du sie findest, so wird's hernach wohlgehen, und deine Hoffnung wird nicht umsonst sein.
15 Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, near the dwelling of the righteous; do not destroy his resting place.
Laure nicht, als ein Gottloser, auf das Haus des Gerechten; verstöre seine Ruhe nicht!
16 For though a righteous man may fall seven times, he still gets up; but the wicked stumble in bad times.
Denn ein Gerechter fällt siebenmal und stehet wieder auf; aber die Gottlosen versinken in Unglück.
17 Do not gloat when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart rejoice when he stumbles,
Freue dich des Falles deines Feindes nicht, und dein Herz sei nicht froh über seinem Unglück;
18 or the LORD will see and disapprove, and turn His wrath away from him.
es möchte der HERR sehen und ihm übel gefallen und seinen Zorn von ihm wenden.
19 Do not fret over evildoers, and do not be envious of the wicked.
Erzürne dich nicht über den Bösen und eifre nicht über die Gottlosen;
20 For the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be extinguished.
denn der Böse hat nichts zu hoffen, und die Leuchte der Gottlosen wird verlöschen.
21 My son, fear the LORD and the king, and do not associate with the rebellious.
Mein Kind, fürchte den HERRN und den König und menge dich nicht unter die Aufrührerischen!
22 For they will bring sudden destruction. Who knows what ruin they can bring?
Denn ihr Unfall wird plötzlich entstehen; und wer weiß, wann beider Unglück kommt?
23 These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judgment is not good.
Dies kommt auch von den Weisen: Die Person ansehen im Gericht ist nicht gut.
24 Whoever tells the guilty, “You are innocent”— peoples will curse him, and nations will denounce him;
Wer zum Gottlosen spricht: Du bist fromm, dem fluchen die Leute und hasset das Volk.
25 but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and rich blessing will come upon them.
Welche aber strafen, die gefallen wohl, und kommt ein reicher Segen auf sie.
26 An honest answer given is like a kiss on the lips.
Eine richtige Antwort ist wie ein lieblicher Kuß.
27 Complete your outdoor work and prepare your field; after that, you may build your house.
Richte draußen dein Geschäft aus und arbeite deinen Acker; danach baue dein Haus.
28 Do not testify against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your lips.
Sei nicht Zeuge ohne Ursache wider deinen Nächsten und betrüge nicht mit deinem Munde!
29 Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will repay the man according to his work.”
Sprich nicht: Wie man mir tut, so will ich wieder tun und einem jeglichen sein Werk vergelten.
30 I went past the field of a slacker and by the vineyard of a man lacking judgment.
Ich ging vor dem Acker des Faulen und vor dem Weinberge des Narren,
31 Thorns had grown up everywhere, thistles had covered the ground, and the stone wall was broken down.
und siehe, da waren eitel Nesseln drauf und stund voll Disteln, und die Mauer war eingefallen.
32 I observed and took it to heart; I looked and received instruction:
Da ich das sah, nahm ich's zu Herzen und schauete und lernete dran.
33 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest,
Du willst ein wenig schlafen und ein wenig schlummern und ein wenig die Hände zusammentun, daß du ruhest;
34 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and need like a bandit.
aber es wird dir deine Armut kommen wie ein Wanderer und dein Mangel wie ein gewappneter Mann.
