Proverbs 21
1 The king’s heart is a waterway in the hand of the LORD; He directs it where He pleases.
രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യിൽ നീൎത്തോടു കണക്കെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തേക്കൊക്കെയും അവൻ അതിനെ തിരിക്കുന്നു.
2 All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart.
മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴി ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ചൊവ്വായിത്തോന്നുന്നു; യഹോവയോ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.
3 To do righteousness and justice is more desirable to the LORD than sacrifice.
നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവെക്കു ഹനനയാഗത്തെക്കാൾ ഇഷ്ടം.
4 Haughty eyes and a proud heart— the guides of the wicked—are sin.
ഗൎവ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും അഹങ്കാരഹൃദയവും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ദീപവും പാപം തന്നേ.
5 The plans of the diligent bring plenty, as surely as haste leads to poverty.
ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ വിചാരങ്ങൾ സമൃദ്ധിഹേതുകങ്ങൾ ആകുന്നു; ബദ്ധപ്പാടുകാരൊക്കെയും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിലേക്കത്രേ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നതു.
6 Making a fortune by a lying tongue is a vanishing mist, a deadly pursuit.
കള്ളനാവുകൊണ്ടു ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നതു പാറിപ്പോകുന്ന ആവിയാകുന്നു; അതിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവർ മരണത്തെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.
7 The violence of the wicked will sweep them away because they refuse to do what is just.
ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സാഹസം അവൎക്കു നാശഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായം ചെയ്‌വാൻ അവൎക്കു മനസ്സില്ലല്ലോ.
8 The way of a guilty man is crooked, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.
അകൃത്യഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നവന്റെ വഴി വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നിൎമ്മലന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ ചൊവ്വുള്ളതു തന്നേ.
9 Better to live on a corner of the roof than to share a house with a quarrelsome wife.
ശണ്ഠകൂടുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പൊതുവീട്ടിൽ പാൎക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ മേൽപുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണിൽ പാൎക്കുന്നതു നല്ലതു.
10 The soul of the wicked man craves evil; his neighbor finds no favor in his eyes.
ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മനസ്സു ദോഷത്തെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു ദയ തോന്നുന്നതുമില്ല.
11 When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; and when a wise man is instructed, he acquires knowledge.
പരിഹാസിയെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചാൽ അല്പബുദ്ധി ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തീരും; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിച്ചാൽ അവൻ പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.
12 The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked and brings the wicked to ruin.
നീതിമാനായവൻ ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്മേൽ ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ നാശത്തിലേക്കു മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.
13 Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too shall cry out and receive no answer.
എളിയവന്റെ നിലവിളിക്കു ചെവി പൊത്തിക്കളയുന്നവൻ താനും വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കും; ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കയില്ല.
14 A gift in secret soothes anger, and a covert bribe pacifies great wrath.
രഹസ്യത്തിൽ ചെയ്യുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെയും മടിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന സമ്മാനം ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
15 Justice executed is a joy to the righteous, but a terror to the workers of iniquity.
ന്യായം പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നതു നീതിമാന്നു സന്തോഷവും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാൎക്കു ഭയങ്കരവും ആകുന്നു.
16 The man who strays from the path of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead.
വിവേകമാൎഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുനടക്കുന്നവൻ മൃതന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ വിശ്രമിക്കും.
17 He who loves pleasure will become poor; the one who loves wine and oil will never be rich.
ഉല്ലാസപ്രിയൻ ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും തൈലവും പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവൻ ധനവാനാകയില്ല.
18 The wicked become a ransom for the righteous, and the faithless for the upright.
ദുഷ്ടൻ നീതിമാന്നു മറുവിലയാകും; ദ്രോഹി നേരുള്ളവൎക്കു പകരമായ്തീരും.
19 Better to live in the desert than with a contentious and ill-tempered wife.
ശണ്ഠയും ദുശ്ശീലവുമുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പാൎക്കുന്നതിലും നിൎജ്ജനപ്രദേശത്തു പോയി പാൎക്കുന്നതു നല്ലതു.
20 Precious treasures and oil are in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man consumes them.
ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പാൎപ്പിടത്തിൽ വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ടു; മൂഢനോ അവയെ ദുൎവ്യയം ചെയ്തുകളയുന്നു.
21 He who pursues righteousness and loving devotion finds life, righteousness, and honor.
നീതിയും ദയയും പിന്തുടരുന്നവൻ ജീവനും നീതിയും മാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.
22 A wise man scales the city of the mighty and pulls down the stronghold in which they trust.
ജ്ഞാനി വീരന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ കയറുകയും അതിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായ കോട്ടയെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
23 He who guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from distress.
വായും നാവും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവൻ തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കഷ്ടങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
24 Mocker is the name of the proud and arrogant man— of him who acts with excessive pride.
നിഗളവും ഗൎവ്വവും ഉള്ളവന്നു പരിഹാസി എന്നു പേർ; അവൻ ഗൎവ്വത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെ പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നു.
25 The craving of the slacker kills him because his hands refuse to work.
മടിയന്റെ കൊതി അവന്നു മരണഹേതു; വേലചെയ്‌വാൻ അവന്റെ കൈകൾ മടിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
26 All day long he covets more, but the righteous give without restraint.
ചിലർ നിത്യം അത്യാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ലോഭിക്കാതെ കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable— how much more so when brought with ill intent!
ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹനനയാഗം വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; അവൻ ദുരാന്തരത്തോടെ അതു അൎപ്പിച്ചാൽ എത്ര അധികം!
28 A lying witness will perish, but the man who listens to truth will speak forever.
കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും; ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേൾക്കുന്നവന്നോ എപ്പോഴും സംസാരിക്കാം.
29 A wicked man hardens his face, but the upright man makes his way sure.
ദുഷ്ടൻ മുഖധാൎഷ്ട്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവനോ തന്റെ വഴി നന്നാക്കുന്നു.
30 There is no wisdom, no understanding, no counsel that can prevail against the LORD.
യഹോവെക്കെതിരെ ജ്ഞാനവുമില്ല, ബുദ്ധിയുമില്ല, ആലോചനയുമില്ല.
31 A horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory is of the LORD.
കുതിരയെ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തേക്കു ചമയിക്കുന്നു; ജയമോ യഹോവയുടെ കൈവശത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നു.
