Proverbs 19
1 Better a poor man who walks with integrity than a fool whose lips are perverse.
Mejor es el pobre que camina en su integridad que el que es perverso de labios y es necio.
2 Even zeal is no good without knowledge, and he who hurries his footsteps misses the mark.
No es bueno tener celo sin conocimiento, ni precipitarse con los pies y perder el camino.
3 A man’s own folly subverts his way, yet his heart rages against the LORD.
La necedad del hombre subvierte su camino; su corazón se enfurece contra Yahvé.
4 Wealth attracts many friends, but a poor man is deserted by his friend.
La riqueza añade muchos amigos, pero el pobre está separado de su amigo.
5 A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies will not escape.
El testigo falso no quedará impune. El que vierte mentiras no quedará libre.
6 Many seek the favor of the prince, and everyone is a friend of the gift giver.
Muchos pedirán el favor de un gobernante, y todo el mundo es amigo de un hombre que da regalos.
7 All the brothers of a poor man hate him— how much more do his friends avoid him! He may pursue them with pleading, but they are nowhere to be found.
Todos los parientes de los pobres le rehúyen; ¡cuánto más le evitan sus amigos! Los persigue con súplicas, pero se han ido.
8 He who acquires wisdom loves himself; one who safeguards understanding will find success.
El que obtiene la sabiduría ama su propia alma. El que guarda el entendimiento encontrará el bien.
9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who pours out lies will perish.
El testigo falso no quedará impune. El que dice mentiras perecerá.
10 Luxury is unseemly for a fool— how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!
La vida delicada no es apropiada para un tonto, y mucho menos que un siervo se enseñoree de los príncipes.
11 A man’s insight gives him patience, and his virtue is to overlook an offense.
La discreción del hombre lo hace lento para la ira. Es su gloria pasar por alto una ofensa.
12 A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
La ira del rey es como el rugido de un león, pero su favor es como el rocío en la hierba.
13 A foolish son is his father’s ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping.
El hijo necio es la calamidad de su padre. Las peleas de una esposa son un goteo continuo.
14 Houses and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.
La casa y las riquezas son una herencia de los padres, pero una esposa prudente es de Yahvé.
15 Laziness brings on deep sleep, and an idle soul will suffer hunger.
La pereza hace caer en un profundo sueño. El alma ociosa sufrirá hambre.
16 He who keeps a commandment preserves his soul, but he who is careless in his ways will die.
El que guarda el mandamiento guarda su alma, pero el que es despectivo en sus caminos, morirá.
17 Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and He will repay the lender.
El que se apiada de los pobres presta a Yahvé; lo recompensará.
18 Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be party to his death.
Disciplina a tu hijo, porque hay esperanza; no seas partícipe de su muerte.
19 A man of great anger must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you will have to do so again.
El hombre de mal genio debe pagar la pena, porque si lo rescatas, debes hacerlo de nuevo.
20 Listen to counsel and accept discipline, that you may be wise the rest of your days.
Escucha el consejo y recibe la instrucción, para que seas sabio en tu fin último.
21 Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the purpose of the LORD will prevail.
Hay muchos planes en el corazón del hombre, pero el consejo de Yahvé prevalecerá.
22 The desire of a man is loving devotion; better to be poor than a liar.
Lo que hace que un hombre sea deseado es su bondad. Un pobre es mejor que un mentiroso.
23 The fear of the LORD leads to life, that one may rest content, without visitation from harm.
El temor a Yahvé conduce a la vida, y luego a la satisfacción; descansa y no será tocado por los problemas.
24 The slacker buries his hand in the dish; he will not even bring it back to his mouth.
El perezoso entierra su mano en el plato; no volverá a llevárselo a la boca.
25 Strike a mocker, and the simple will beware; rebuke the discerning man, and he will gain knowledge.
Azotad a un burlón, y el simple aprenderá la prudencia; Reprende al que tiene entendimiento, y obtendrá conocimiento.
26 He who assaults his father or evicts his mother is a son who brings shame and disgrace.
El que roba a su padre y aleja a su madre es un hijo que causa vergüenza y trae reproche.
27 If you cease to hear instruction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge.
Si dejas de escuchar la instrucción, hijo mío, te alejarás de las palabras del conocimiento.
28 A corrupt witness mocks justice, and a wicked mouth swallows iniquity.
Un testigo corrupto se burla de la justicia, y la boca de los malvados engulle iniquidad.
29 Judgments are prepared for mockers, and beatings for the backs of fools.
Las penasestán preparadas para los burlones, y golpes para las espaldas de los tontos.
