Proverbs 14
1 Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
बुद्धिमान् स्त्रीले आफ्नो घर निर्माण गर्छे; तर मूर्ख स्त्रीले आफ्नै हातले आफ्नो घर भत्काउँछे।
2 He who walks in uprightness fears the LORD, but the one who is devious in his ways despises Him.
याहवेहको डर मान्नेहरू सत्यतामा जिउँछन्, तर उहाँलाई तुच्छ ठान्नेहरू कुमार्गमा हिँड्छन्।
3 The proud speech of a fool brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
मूर्खको बोलीले आफ्नै पिठिउँमा छडी निम्त्याउँछ; तर बुद्धिमान्को ओठले तिनीहरूलाई बचाउँछ।
4 Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but an abundant harvest comes through the strength of the ox.
जहाँ गोरुहरू छैनन्, त्यहाँ गोठ खाली रहन्छ; तर गोरुको बलबाट प्रशस्त फसल कटनी हुन्छ।
5 An honest witness does not deceive, but a dishonest witness pours forth lies.
साँचो साक्षीले धोका दिँदैन; तर झूटो साक्षीले असत्य कुराहरू पोख्छ।
6 A mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.
गिल्ला गर्नेले बुद्धिको खोजी गर्छ, तर पाउँदैन; तर विवेकशील व्यक्तिले सजिलैसित ज्ञान प्राप्त गर्छ।
7 Stay away from a foolish man; you will gain no knowledge from his speech.
मूर्ख मानिसबाट टाढै बस, किनकि उसको ओठमा ज्ञानको कुरा पाइँदैन।
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but the folly of fools deceives them.
विवेकशील मानिसको बुद्धिले त्यसलाई सही मार्ग दिन्छ, तर मूर्खहरूको मूर्खताचाहिँ धोका हो।
9 Fools mock the making of amends, but goodwill is found among the upright.
दोष मूर्खहरूका निम्ति ठट्ठाको विषय हो; तर धर्मीहरूमा भने सद्भावना पाइन्छ।
10 The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares in its joy.
प्रत्येक मनको तितोपनाले नै जान्दछ; र कोही त्यसको आनन्दको सहभागी हुन सक्दैन।
11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
दुष्टको घर भत्काइनेछ; तर धर्मीको पालमा फलिफाप हुनेछ।
12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
कुनै बाटो मानिसलाई ठिक लाग्ला, तर अन्त्यमा त्यसले मृत्युमा पुर्याउँछ।
13 Even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy may end in sorrow.
मुखमा हाँसो भए तापनि हृदयमा वेदना हुन सक्छ; र हर्षको अन्तचाहिँ शोकमा हुन सक्छ।
14 The backslider in heart receives the fill of his own ways, but a good man is rewarded for his ways.
विश्वासहीनहरूलाई तिनीहरूको चाल अनुसारको प्रतिफल दिइनेछ; र असल मानिसले आफ्नो कामको प्रतिफल पाउनेछ।
15 The simple man believes every word, but the prudent man watches his steps.
सोझो मानिसले हरेक कुरामा विश्वास गर्छ; तर विवेकशील मानिसले आफ्ना पाइलाहरूबारे विचार गर्छ।
16 A wise man fears and turns from evil, but a fool is careless and reckless.
बुद्धिमान् मानिसले याहवेहको डर मान्छ, र दुष्टतादेखि परै बस्छ; तर मूर्खचाहिँ अहङ्कारी हुन्छ, विस्वस्त हुन्छ।
17 A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a devious man is hated.
झट्टै रिसाउने मानिसले मूर्ख काम गर्छ; र दुष्ट योजनाहरू रच्नेलाई घृणा गरिन्छ।
18 The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
रिसाहाले मूर्खता कमाउँछन्, तर विवेकशीलहरूले ज्ञानको मुकुट लगाउँछन्।
19 The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
खराब मानिसहरू असल मानिसहरूका सामु, र दुष्टहरू धर्मीहरूका मूलढोकाको सामु झुक्नेछन्।
20 The poor man is hated even by his neighbor, but many are those who love the rich.
गरिबहरू आफ्नै छिमेकीद्वारा त्यागिन्छन्; तर धनीको धेरै मित्रहरू हुन्छन्।
21 He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who shows kindness to the poor.
आफ्नो छिमेकीलाई तुच्छ ठान्नेले पाप गर्छ; तर त्यो मानिस धन्य हो, जसले अभावमा परेकाहरूमाथि दया देखाउँछ।
22 Do not those who contrive evil go astray? But those who plan goodness find loving devotion and faithfulness.
के दुष्ट योजना रच्नेहरू बरालिँदैनन् र? तर असल योजना बनाउनेहरूले प्रेम र विश्वासयोग्यता प्राप्त गर्छन्।
23 There is profit in all labor, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
सबै कठोर परिश्रमले लाभ ल्याउँछ; तर कुरा मात्र गर्ने मानिसचाहिँ गरिबीमा पुग्छ।
24 The crown of the wise is their wealth, but the effort of fools is folly.
बुद्धिमान्को धन तिनीहरूको मुकुट हो; तर मूर्खहरूको मूर्खपनाले मूर्खता मात्र उत्पन्न गराउँछ।
25 A truthful witness saves lives, but one who utters lies is deceitful.
साँचो साक्षीले जीवन बचाउँछ; तर झूटो साक्षी छलपूर्ण हुन्छ।
26 He who fears the LORD is secure in confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge.
याहवेहको डर मान्नेको किल्ला सुरक्षित रहन्छ; र त्यसका छोराछोरीको लागि त्यो एक शरणस्थान हुनेछ।
27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.
याहवेहप्रतिको श्रद्धा जीवनको मूल हो, जसले मानिसलाई मृत्युको पासोबाट फर्काउँछ।
28 A large population is a king’s splendor, but a lack of subjects is a prince’s ruin.
ठूलो जनसंख्या राजाको महिमा हो; तर प्रजाविनाको शासक नष्ट हुन्छ।
29 A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man promotes folly.
धैर्यवान् मानिसको समझशक्ति अपार हुन्छ, तर झट्टै रिसाउनेले आफ्नो मूर्खतालाई प्रदर्शन गर्छ।
30 A tranquil heart is life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
शान्त हृदयले शरीरलाई जीवन दिन्छ; तर ईष्र्याचाहिँ हड्डीहरूका निम्ति क्यान्सरजस्तै हुन्छ।
31 Whoever oppresses the poor taunts their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors Him.
गरिबलाई थिचोमिचो गर्नेले आफ्ना सृष्टिकर्ताप्रति अपमान दर्शाउँछ; तर खाँचोमा परेकाहरूप्रति दयालु हुनेले परमेश्वरलाई सम्मान दिन्छ।
32 The wicked man is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous man has a refuge even in death.
जब विपत्ति आउँछ, दुष्टहरूको पतन हुन्छ; तर धर्मीले चाहिँ मृत्युमा पनि परमेश्वरको आश्रय पाउँछ।
33 Wisdom rests in the heart of the discerning; even among fools she is known.
बुद्धिमान्को हृदयमा बुद्धिले बास गर्छ, र मूर्खहरूको बीचमा पनि त्यसले आफूलाई प्रकट गराउँछ।
34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
धार्मिकताले राष्ट्रलाई उच्च तुल्याउँछ; तर पाप गर्नुचाहिँ कुनै पनि जातिको निम्ति कलङ्क हुन्छ।
35 A king delights in a wise servant, but his anger falls on the shameful.
बुद्धिमान् सेवकसँग राजा प्रसन्न रहन्छन्; तर शर्मलाग्दो सेवकले तिनको रिस जगाउँछ।
