Proverbs 13
1 A wise son heeds his father’s discipline, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.
௧ஞானமுள்ள மகன் தகப்பனுடைய போதகத்தைக் கேட்கிறான்; பரியாசக்காரனோ கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலை கேட்கமாட்டான்.
2 From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the desire of the faithless is violence.
௨மனிதன் தன்னுடைய வாயின் பலனால் நன்மையைச் சாப்பிடுவான்; துரோகிகளின் ஆத்துமாவோ கொடுமையை சாப்பிடும்.
3 He who guards his mouth protects his life, but the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.
௩தன்னுடைய வாயைக் காக்கிறவன் தன்னுடைய உயிரைக் காக்கிறான்; தன்னுடைய உதடுகளை விரிவாகத் திறக்கிறவனோ கலக்கமடைவான்.
4 The slacker craves yet has nothing, but the soul of the diligent is fully satisfied.
௪சோம்பேறியுடைய ஆத்துமா விரும்பியும் ஒன்றும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளாது; ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவர்களுடைய ஆத்துமாவோ செழிக்கும்;
5 The righteous hate falsehood, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.
௫நீதிமான் பொய்ப்பேச்சை வெறுக்கிறான்; துன்மார்க்கனோ வெட்கமும் அவமானமும் உண்டாக்குகிறான்.
6 Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness undermines the sinner.
௬நீதி உத்தமவழியில் உள்ளவனைத் தற்காக்கும்; துன்மார்க்கமோ பாவியைக் கவிழ்த்துப்போடும்.
7 One pretends to be rich, but has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
௭ஒன்றுமில்லாமல் இருக்கத் தன்னைச் செல்வந்தனாக நினைக்கிறவனும் உண்டு; மிகுந்த செல்வம் இருக்கத் தன்னைத் தரித்திரனாக நினைக்கிறவனும் உண்டு.
8 Riches may ransom a man’s life, but a poor man hears no threat.
௮மனிதனுடைய செல்வம் அவனுடைய உயிரை மீட்கும்; தரித்திரனோ மிரட்டுதலைக் கேட்காமல் இருக்கிறான்.
9 The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
௯நீதிமான்களின் வெளிச்சம் சந்தோஷப்படுத்தும்; துன்மார்க்கர்களின் தீபமோ அணைந்துபோகும்.
10 Arrogance leads only to strife, but wisdom is with the well-advised.
௧0அகந்தையினால் மட்டும் விவாதம் பிறக்கும்; ஆலோசனையைக் கேட்கிறவர்களிடத்திலோ ஞானம் உண்டு.
11 Dishonest wealth will dwindle, but what is earned through hard work will be multiplied.
௧௧வஞ்சனையால் தேடின பொருள் குறைந்துபோகும்; கஷ்டப்பட்டு சேர்க்கிறவனோ விருத்தியடைவான்.
12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
௧௨நெடுங்காலமாகக் காத்திருக்குதல் இருதயத்தை இளைக்கச்செய்யும்; விரும்பினது வரும்போதோ ஜீவமரம்போல இருக்கும்.
13 He who despises instruction will pay the penalty, but the one who respects a command will be rewarded.
௧௩திருவசனத்தை அவமதிக்கிறவன் நாசமடைவான்; கற்பனைக்குப் பயப்படுகிறவனோ பலனடைவான்.
14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning one from the snares of death.
௧௪ஞானவான்களுடைய போதகம் வாழ்வுதரும் ஊற்று; அதினால் மரணக்கண்ணிகளுக்குத் தப்பலாம்.
15 Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the faithless is difficult.
௧௫நற்புத்தி தயவை உண்டாக்கும்; துரோகிகளுடைய வழியோ கரடுமுரடானது.
16 Every prudent man acts with knowledge, but a fool displays his folly.
௧௬விவேகியானவன் அறிவோடு நடந்துகொள்ளுகிறான்; மூடனோ தன்னுடைய மூடத்தனத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறான்.
17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful envoy brings healing.
௧௭துரோகமுள்ள தூதன் தீமையிலே விழுவான்; உண்மையுள்ள தூதுவர்களோ நல்மருந்து.
18 Poverty and shame come to him who ignores discipline, but whoever heeds correction is honored.
௧௮புத்திமதிகளைத் தள்ளுகிறவன் தரித்திரத்தையும் அவமானத்தையும் அடைவான்; கடிந்து கொள்ளுதலைக் கவனித்து நடக்கிறவனோ மேன்மையடைவான்.
19 Desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but turning from evil is detestable to fools.
௧௯வாஞ்சை நிறைவேறுவது ஆத்துமாவுக்கு இனிது; தீமையைவிட்டு விலகுவது மூடர்களுக்கு அருவருப்பு.
20 He who walks with the wise will become wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.
௨0ஞானிகளோடு வாழ்கிறவன் ஞானமடைவான்; மூடர்களுக்குத் தோழனோ நாசமடைவான்.
21 Disaster pursues sinners, but prosperity is the reward of the righteous.
௨௧பாவிகளைத் தீவினை தொடரும்; நீதிமான்களுக்கோ நன்மை பலனாக வரும்.
22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is passed to the righteous.
௨௨நல்லவன் தன்னுடைய பிள்ளைகளின் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு சொத்தை வைத்துப்போகிறான்; பாவியின் செல்வமோ நீதிமானுக்காகச் சேர்த்துவைக்கப்படும்.
23 Abundant food is in the fallow ground of the poor, but without justice it is swept away.
௨௩ஏழைகளின் வயல் மிகுதியான உணவை விளைவிக்கும்; நியாயம் கிடைக்காமல் கெட்டுப்போகிறவர்களும் உண்டு.
24 He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
௨௪பிரம்பைப் பயன்படுத்தாதவன் தன்னுடைய மகனைப் பகைக்கிறான்; அவன்மேல் அன்பாக இருக்கிறவனோ அவனை ஏற்கனவே தண்டிக்கிறான்.
25 A righteous man eats to his heart’s content, but the stomach of the wicked is empty.
௨௫நீதிமான் தனக்குத் திருப்தியாகச் சாப்பிடுகிறான்; துன்மார்க்கர்களுடைய வயிறோ பசியாக இருக்கும்.
