< Proverbs 12 >
1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
Buli asanyukira okukangavvulwa ayagala amagezi; naye oyo akyawa okunenyezebwa musirusiru.
2 The good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a man who devises evil.
Omuntu omulungi aganja mu maaso ga Mukama, naye Mukama asalira omusango omuntu ow’enkwe.
3 A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.
Omuntu tanywezebwa lwa kukola bitali bya butuukirivu, naye omulandira gw’omutuukirivu tegulisigulwa.
4 A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but she who causes shame is like decay in his bones.
Omukyala ow’empisa ennungi ssanyu era ngule ya mwami we, naye omukazi eyeeyisa obubi ali nga kookolo mu magumba ga bba.
5 The plans of the righteous are just, but the counsel of the wicked leads to deceit.
Enteekateeka z’omutuukirivu ziba za mazima, naye amagezi g’abakozi b’ebibi ge bawa gaba ga bulimba.
6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.
Ebiteeso by’abakozi b’ebibi kuyiwa musaayi, naye ebigambo by’abatuukirivu bye bibawonya.
7 The wicked are overthrown and perish, but the house of the righteous will stand.
Abakozi b’ebibi bagwa ne basaanirawo ddala, naye ennyumba y’omutuukirivu teesagaasaganenga emirembe gyonna.
8 A man is praised according to his wisdom, but a twisted mind is despised.
Ebigambo by’omugezi bimuleetera okusiimibwa, naye eby’omusirusiru bimunyoomesa.
9 Better to be lightly esteemed yet have a servant, than to be self-important but lack food.
Omuntu eyeetoowaza ne yeekolera, asinga oyo eyeegulumiza n’abulwa ky’alya.
10 A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are only cruelty.
Omutuukirivu afaayo ku bisolo bye, naye omukozi w’ebibi abiraga bukambwe bwereere.
11 The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies lacks judgment.
Oyo eyeerimira aliba n’emmere nnyingi, naye oyo anoonya ebitaliimu talina magezi.
12 The wicked desire the plunder of evil men, but the root of the righteous flourishes.
Abakozi b’ebibi baagala okubba omunyago gwa babbi bannaabwe, naye omulandira gw’abatuukirivu gunywera.
13 An evil man is trapped by his rebellious speech, but a righteous man escapes from trouble.
Ebigambo by’omukozi w’ebibi bimusuula mu mitawaana, naye omutuukirivu awona akabi.
14 By fruitful speech a man is filled with good things, and the work of his hands returns to him.
Omuntu ajjuzibwa ebirungi okuva mu bibala bye bigambo by’akamwa ke, n’emirimu gy’emikono gye gimusasula bulungi.
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to counsel.
Ekkubo ly’omusirusiru ddungi mu kulaba kwe ye, naye omugezi assaayo omwoyo ku magezi agamuweebwa.
16 A fool’s anger is known at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.
Omusirusiru alaga mangu obusungu bwe, naye omutegeevu tassa mwoyo ku kivume.
17 He who speaks the truth declares what is right, but a false witness speaks deceit.
Omujulizi ow’amazima awa obujulizi obutuufu, naye omujulizi ow’obulimba ayogera bya bulimba.
18 Speaking rashly is like a piercing sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Ebigambo ebyanguyirize bisala ng’ekitala ekyogi, naye olulimi lw’omuntu omugezi luwonya.
19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
Emimwa egyogera amazima gibeerera emirembe gyonna, naye olulimi olulimba lwa kiseera buseera.
20 Deceit is in the hearts of those who devise evil, but the counselors of peace have joy.
Obulimba buli mu mitima gyabo abategeka okukola ebibi, naye essanyu liri n’abo abakolerera emirembe.
21 No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble.
Tewali kabi konna kagwa ku batuukirivu, naye abakozi b’ebibi tebaggwaako mitawaana.
22 Lying lips are detestable to the LORD, but those who deal faithfully are His delight.
Mukama akyawa emimwa egirimba, naye asanyukira ab’amazima.
23 A shrewd man keeps his knowledge to himself, but a foolish heart proclaims its folly.
Omuntu omutegeevu talaga nnyo by’amanyi, naye abasirusiru balaga obutamanya bwabwe.
24 The hand of the diligent will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.
Omukono gw’omunyiikivu gulimufuula omufuzi, naye obugayaavu bufuula omuntu omuddu.
25 Anxiety weighs down the heart of a man, but a good word cheers it up.
Omutima ogweraliikirira guleetera omuntu okwennyika, naye ekigambo eky’ekisa kimusanyusa.
26 A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the ways of the wicked lead them astray.
Omutuukirivu yeegendereza mu mikwano gye, naye ekkubo ly’ababi libabuza.
27 A lazy man does not roast his game, but a diligent man prizes his possession.
Omuntu omugayaavu tayokya muyiggo gwe, naye omunyiikivu kyayizze, kiba kya muwendo gyali.
28 There is life in the path of righteousness, but another path leads to death.
Mu kkubo ery’obutuukirivu mulimu obulamu, era mu kkubo eryo temuli kufa.
