1 The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.
Engero za Sulemaani: Omwana ow’amagezi asanyusa kitaawe; naye omwana omusirusiru anakuwaza nnyina.
2 Ill-gotten treasures profit nothing, but righteousness brings deliverance from death.
Eby’obugagga ebifuniddwa mu makubo amakyamu tebirina kye bigasa, naye abatuukirivu banunulwa okuva mu kufa.
3 The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but He denies the craving of the wicked.
Mukama taalekenga mutuukirivu we kufa njala, naye aziyiza abakozi b’ebibi okufuna bye beetaaga.
4 Idle hands make one poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.
Emikono emigayaavu gyavuwaza, naye emikono eminyiikivu gireeta obugagga.
5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.
Omuvubuka ow’amagezi akungulira mu biseera ebituufu, naye oyo eyeebakira mu biro eby’okukunguliramu mwana aswaza ennyo.
6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
Omukisa gubeera ku mutwe gw’omutuukirivu, naye akamwa k’omukozi w’ebibi kajjula obukambwe.
7 The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot.
Omutuukirivu anajjukirwanga n’essanyu, naye erinnya ly’omubi linaavundanga.
8 A wise heart will receive commandments, but foolish lips will come to ruin.
Alina omutima ogw’amagezi agondera ebiragiro, naye omusirusiru ayogerayogera, azikirizibwa.
9 He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
Atambulira mu bwesimbu y’atambula emirembe, naye akwata amakubo amakyamu alitegeerebwa.
10 He who winks the eye causes grief, and foolish lips will come to ruin.
Oyo atta ku liiso ng’akweka amazima aleeta ennaku, n’omusirusiru ayogerayogera alizikirizibwa.
11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
Akamwa ak’omutuukirivu nsulo ya bulamu, naye akamwa k’omukozi w’ebibi kajjula bulabe.
12 Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all transgressions.
Obukyayi buleeta enjawukana, naye okwagala kubikka ku bibi bingi.
13 Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment.
Amagezi gasangibwa ku mimwa gy’oyo alina okutegeera, naye omuggo gukangavvula oyo atamanyi kusalawo bulungi.
14 The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of the fool invites destruction.
Abantu ab’amagezi batereka okumanya, naye akamwa k’omusirusiru kaaniriza kuzikirira.
15 The wealth of the rich man is his fortified city, but poverty is the ruin of the poor.
Obugagga bw’omugagga kye kibuga kye ekiriko ebigo, naye obwavu kwe kuzikirira kw’omwavu.
16 The labor of the righteous leads to life, but the gain of the wicked brings punishment.
Empeera y’omutuukirivu bulamu, naye empeera y’omukozi w’ebibi emuleetera kubonerezebwa.
17 Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who ignores reproof goes astray.
Oyo assaayo omwoyo eri okubuulirirwa aba mu kkubo ery’obulamu, naye oyo atassaayo mwoyo ku kunenyezebwa aleetera abalala okuwaba.
18 The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.
Oyo akisa obukyayi alina emimwa egirimba, era omuntu akonjera, musirusiru.
19 When words are many, sin is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise.
Mu bigambo ebingi temubula kwonoona, naye akuuma olulimi lwe aba wa magezi.
20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked has little worth.
Olulimi lw’omutuukirivu ffeeza ya muwendo, naye omutima gw’omukozi w’ebibi gugasa katono.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of judgment.
Ebigambo by’omutuukirivu biriisa abantu bangi, naye abasirusiru bazikirira olw’okubulwa amagezi.
22 The blessing of the LORD enriches, and He adds no sorrow to it.
Omukisa gwa Mukama guleeta obugagga era tagwongerako buyinike.
23 The fool delights in shameful conduct, but a man of understanding has wisdom.
Omusirusiru asanyukira okukola ebibi, naye omuntu alina okutegeera asanyukira eby’amagezi.
24 What the wicked man dreads will overtake him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
Omukozi w’ebibi ky’atayagala kirimutuukako, naye abatuukirivu bye baagala biribaweebwa.
25 When the whirlwind passes, the wicked are no more, but the righteous are secure forever.
Embuyaga bw’ejja, abakozi b’ebibi batwalibwa, naye abatuukirivu banywera emirembe gyonna.
26 Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the slacker to those who send him.
Ng’omususa bwe gunyeenyeza amannyo, n’omukka nga bwe gubalagala mu maaso, n’omugayaavu bw’abeera bw’atyo eri abamutuma.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be cut short.
Okutya Mukama kuwangaaza omuntu, naye emyaka gy’ababi girisalibwako.
28 The hope of the righteous is joy, but the expectations of the wicked will perish.
Essuubi ly’abatuukirivu livaamu ssanyu, naye okusuubira kw’abakozi b’ebibi tekulivaamu kantu.
29 The way of the LORD is a refuge to the upright, but destruction awaits those who do evil.
Ekkubo lya Mukama kye kiddukiro ky’abatuukirivu, naye abakozi b’ebibi libasaanyaawo.
30 The righteous will never be shaken, but the wicked will not inhabit the land.
Abatuukirivu tebajjululwenga ennaku zonna, naye abakozi b’ebibi tebalisigala mu nsi.
31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be cut out.
Akamwa k’omutuukirivu koogera eby’amagezi, naye olulimi olwogera eby’obubambavu lulisalibwamu.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
Emimwa gy’omutuukirivu gyogera ebisaanidde; naye emimwa gy’omukozi w’ebibi gyogera eby’obubambavu.
