Numbers 1
1 On the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting in the Wilderness of Sinai. He said:
L’Eterno parlò ancora a Mosè, nel deserto di Sinai, nella tenda di convegno, il primo giorno del secondo mese, il secondo anno dell’uscita de’ figliuoli d’Israele dal paese d’Egitto, e disse:
2 “Take a census of the whole congregation of Israel by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.
“Fate la somma di tutta la raunanza de’ figliuoli d’Israele secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, uno per uno,
3 You and Aaron are to number those who are twenty years of age or older by their divisions—everyone who can serve in Israel’s army.
dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che in Israele possono andare alla guerra; tu ed Aaronne ne farete il censimento, secondo le loro schiere.
4 And one man from each tribe, the head of each family, must be there with you.
E con voi ci sarà un uomo per tribù, il capo della casa de’ suoi padri.
5 These are the names of the men who are to assist you: From the tribe of Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;
Questi sono i nomi degli nomini che staranno con voi. Di Ruben: Elitsur, figliuolo di Scedeur;
6 from Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
di Simeone: Scelumiel, figliuolo di Tsurishaddai;
7 from Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;
di Giuda: Nahshon, figliuolo di Aminadab;
8 from Issachar, Nethanel son of Zuar;
di Issacar: Nethaneel, figliuolo di Tsuar;
9 from Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon;
di Zabulon: Eliab, figliuolo di Helon;
10 from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud, and from Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;
de’ figliuoli di Giuseppe: di Efraim: Elishama, figliuolo di Ammihud; di Manasse: Gamaliel, figliuolo di Pedahtsur;
11 from Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;
di Beniamino: Abidan, figliuolo di Ghideoni;
12 from Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;
di Dan: Ahiezer, figliuolo di Ammishaddai;
13 from Asher, Pagiel son of Ocran;
di Ascer: Paghiel, figliuolo di Ocran;
14 from Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;
di Gad: Eliasaf, figliuolo di Deuel;
15 and from Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.”
di Neftali: Ahira, figliuolo di Enan”.
16 These men were appointed from the congregation; they were the leaders of the tribes of their fathers, the heads of the clans of Israel.
Questi furono i chiamati dal seno della raunanza, i principi delle tribù de’ loro padri, i capi delle migliaia d’Israele.
17 So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated by name,
Mosè ed Aaronne presero dunque questi uomini ch’erano stati designati per nome,
18 and on the first day of the second month they assembled the whole congregation and recorded their ancestry by clans and families, counting one by one the names of those twenty years of age or older,
e convocarono tutta la raunanza, il primo giorno del secondo mese; e il popolo fu inscritto secondo le famiglie, secondo le case de’ padri, contando il numero delle persone dai venti anni in su, uno per uno.
19 just as the LORD had commanded Moses. So Moses numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai:
Come l’Eterno gli aveva ordinato, Mosè ne fece il censimento nel deserto di Sinai.
20 From the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, according to the records of their clans and families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Ruben, primogenito d’Israele, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, uno per uno, dall’età di vent’anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
21 those registered to the tribe of Reuben numbered 46,500.
il censimento della tribù di Ruben dette la cifra di quarantaseimila cinquecento.
22 From the sons of Simeon, according to the records of their clans and families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Simeone, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, inscritti contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, uno per uno, dall’età di vent’anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
23 those registered to the tribe of Simeon numbered 59,300.
il censimento della tribù di Simeone dette la cifra di cinquantanovemila trecento.
24 From the sons of Gad, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Gad, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di vent’anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
25 those registered to the tribe of Gad numbered 45,650.
il censimento della tribù di Gad dette la cifra di quarantacinquemila seicentocinquanta.
26 From the sons of Judah, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Giuda, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
27 those registered to the tribe of Judah numbered 74,600.
il censimento della tribù di Giuda dette la cifra di settantaquattromila seicento.
28 From the sons of Issachar, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Issacar, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
29 those registered to the tribe of Issachar numbered 54,400.
il censimento della tribù di Issacar dette la cifra di cinquantaquattromila quattrocento.
30 From the sons of Zebulun, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Zabulon, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
31 those registered to the tribe of Zebulun numbered 57,400.
il censimento della tribù di Zabulon dette la cifra di cinquantasettemila quattrocento.
32 From the sons of Joseph: From the sons of Ephraim, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Giuseppe: Figliuoli d’Efraim, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
33 those registered to the tribe of Ephraim numbered 40,500.
il censimento della tribù di Efraim dette la cifra di quarantamila cinquecento.
34 And from the sons of Manasseh, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Manasse, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
35 those registered to the tribe of Manasseh numbered 32,200.
il censimento della tribù dì Manasse dette la cifra di trentaduemila duecento.
36 From the sons of Benjamin, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Beniamino, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
37 those registered to the tribe of Benjamin numbered 35,400.
il censimento della tribù di Beniamino dette la cifra di trentacinquemila quattrocento.
38 From the sons of Dan, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Dan, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
39 those registered to the tribe of Dan numbered 62,700.
il censimento della tribù di Dan dette la cifra di sessantaduemila settecento.
40 From the sons of Asher, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Ascer, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
41 those registered to the tribe of Asher numbered 41,500.
il censimento della tribù di Ascer dette la cifra di quarantunmila cinquecento.
42 From the sons of Naphtali, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figliuoli di Neftali, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le case dei loro padri, contando i nomi dall’età di venti anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra:
43 those registered to the tribe of Naphtali numbered 53,400.
il censimento della tribù di Neftali dette la cifra di cinquantatremila quattrocento.
44 These were the men numbered by Moses and Aaron, with the assistance of the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family.
Questi son quelli di cui Mosè ed Aaronne fecero il censimento, coi dodici uomini, principi d’Israele: ce n’era uno per ognuna delle case de’ loro padri.
45 So all the Israelites twenty years of age or older who could serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families.
Così tutti i figliuoli d’Israele dei quali fu fatto il censimento secondo le case del loro padri, dall’età di vent’anni in su, cioè tutti gli uomini che in Israele potevano andare alla guerra,
46 And all those counted totaled 603,550.
tutti quelli dei quali fu fatto il censimento, furono seicentotremila cinquecentocinquanta.
47 The Levites, however, were not numbered along with them by the tribe of their fathers.
Ma i Leviti, come tribù dei loro padri, non furon compresi nel censimento con gli altri;
48 For the LORD had said to Moses:
poiché l’Eterno avea parlato a Mosè, dicendo:
49 “Do not number the tribe of Levi in the census with the other Israelites.
“Soltanto della tribù di Levi non farai il censimento, e non ne unirai l’ammontare a quello de’ figliuoli d’Israele;
50 Instead, you are to appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, all its furnishings, and everything in it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its articles, care for it, and camp around it.
ma affida ai Leviti la cura del tabernacolo della testimonianza, di tutti i suoi utensili e di tutto ciò che gli appartiene. Essi porteranno il tabernacolo e tutti i suoi utensili, ne faranno il servizio, e staranno accampati attorno al tabernacolo.
51 Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever it is to be pitched, the Levites are to set it up. Any outsider who goes near it must be put to death.
Quando il tabernacolo dovrà partire, i Leviti lo smonteranno; quando il tabernacolo dovrà accamparsi in qualche luogo, i Leviti lo rizzeranno; e l’estraneo che gli si avvicinerà sarà messo a morte.
52 The Israelites are to camp by their divisions, each man in his own camp and under his own standard.
I figliuoli d’Israele pianteranno le loro tende ognuno nel suo campo, ognuno vicino alla sua bandiera, secondo le loro schiere.
53 But the Levites are to camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony and watch over it, so that no wrath will fall on the congregation of Israel. So the Levites are responsible for the tabernacle of the Testimony.”
Ma i Leviti pianteranno le loro attorno al tabernacolo della testimonianza, affinché non si accenda l’ira mia contro la raunanza de’ figliuoli d’Israele; e i Leviti avranno la cura del tabernacolo della testimonianza”.
54 Thus the Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
I figliuoli d’Israele si conformarono in tutto agli ordini che l’Eterno avea dato a Mosè; fecero così.
