Numbers 19
1 Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse et à Aaron, disant:
2 “This is the statute of the law that the LORD has commanded: Instruct the Israelites to bring you an unblemished red heifer that has no defect and has never been placed under a yoke.
Voici la cérémonie de la victime qu’a déterminée le Seigneur. Ordonne aux enfants d’Israël qu’ils t’amènent une vache rousse, dans l’intégrité de l’âge, en laquelle il n’y ait aucune tache, et qui n’ait point porté le joug;
3 Give it to Eleazar the priest, and he will have it brought outside the camp and slaughtered in his presence.
Et vous la livrerez à Eléazar, le prêtre, qui après l’avoir menée hors du camp, l’immolera en présence de tous;
4 Eleazar the priest is to take some of its blood on his finger and sprinkle it seven times toward the front of the Tent of Meeting.
Et, trempant le doigt dans son sang, il fera l’aspersion contre la porte du tabernacle par sept fois.
5 Then the heifer must be burned in his sight. Its hide, its flesh, and its blood are to be burned, along with its dung.
Puis il la brûlera, tous le voyant, en livrant aux flammes tant sa peau et sa chair, que son sang et sa fiente.
6 The priest is to take cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet wool and throw them onto the burning heifer.
Le prêtre jettera aussi du bois de cèdre, de l’hysope et de l’écarlate deux fois teinte, dans la flamme qui brûle la vache.
7 Then the priest must wash his clothes and bathe his body in water; after that he may enter the camp, but he will be ceremonially unclean until evening.
Et alors enfin, ses vêtements et son corps lavés, il entrera dans le camp et il sera souillé jusqu’au soir.
8 The one who burned the heifer must also wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and he too will be ceremonially unclean until evening.
Mais celui aussi qui l’aura brûlée, lavera ses vêtements et son corps, et il sera impur jusqu’au soir.
9 Then a man who is ceremonially clean is to gather up the ashes of the heifer and store them in a ceremonially clean place outside the camp. They must be kept by the congregation of Israel for preparing the water of purification; this is for purification from sin.
Et un homme pur recueillera les cendres de la vache, et les déposera hors du camp dans un lieu très net, afin qu’elles soient à la garde de la multitude des enfants d’Israël, et qu’elles servent pour une eau d’aspersion; parce que c’est pour le péché que la vache a été brûlée.
10 The man who has gathered up the ashes of the heifer must also wash his clothes, and he will be ceremonially unclean until evening. This is a permanent statute for the Israelites and for the foreigner residing among them.
Et lorsque celui qui avait porté les cendres de la vache, aura lavé ses vêtements, il sera impur jusqu’au soir. Les enfants d’Israël et les étrangers qui habitent parmi eux tiendront cette ordonnance pour sainte par un droit perpétuel.
11 Whoever touches any dead body will be unclean for seven days.
Celui qui aura touché le cadavre d’un homme, et qui pour cela sera impur pendant sept jours,
12 He must purify himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day; then he will be clean. But if he does not purify himself on the third and seventh days, he will not be clean.
Sera aspergé de cette eau au troisième et au septième jour, et c’est ainsi qu’il sera purifié. Si au troisième jour il n’a pas été aspergé, au septième il ne pourra être purifié.
13 Anyone who touches a human corpse and fails to purify himself defiles the tabernacle of the LORD. That person must be cut off from Israel. He remains unclean, because the water of purification has not been sprinkled on him, and his uncleanness is still on him.
Quiconque aura touché le corps mort du ne âme humaine, et n’aura pas été aspergé de cette eau ainsi mêlée, souillera le tabernacle du Seigneur, et périra du milieu d’Israël: parce qu’il n’a pas été aspergé d’eau d’expiation, il sera impur et son impureté demeurera sur lui.
14 This is the law when a person dies in a tent: Everyone who enters the tent and everyone already in the tent will be unclean for seven days,
Voici la loi de l’homme qui meurt dans une tente: Tous ceux qui entrent dans sa tente, et tous les vases qui y sont, seront souillés pendant sept jours.
15 and any open container without a lid fastened on it is unclean.
Un vase qui n’aurait point de couvercle, ni d’attache par-dessus, sera impur.
16 Anyone in the open field who touches someone who has been killed by the sword or has died of natural causes, or anyone who touches a human bone or a grave, will be unclean for seven days.
Si quelqu’un dans un champ touche le cadavre d’un homme tué, ou mort de lui-même, ou bien un de ses os, ou son sépulcre, il sera impur pendant sept jours.
17 For the purification of the unclean person, take some of the ashes of the burnt sin offering, put them in a jar, and pour fresh water over them.
On prendra des cendres de la combustion et du péché, et l’on mettra de l’eau vive sur ces cendres dans un vase;
18 Then a man who is ceremonially clean is to take some hyssop, dip it in the water, and sprinkle the tent, all the furnishings, and the people who were there. He is also to sprinkle the one who touched a bone, a grave, or a person who has died or been slain.
Et un homme pur y ayant trempé de l’hysope, il en aspergera toute la tente, tous les meubles et tous les hommes souillés par un tel contact
19 The man who is ceremonially clean is to sprinkle the unclean person on the third day and on the seventh day. After he purifies the unclean person on the seventh day, the one being cleansed must wash his clothes and bathe in water, and that evening he will be clean.
Et de cette manière le pur purifiera l’impur au troisième et au septième jour; et celui qui aura été purifié au septième jour, se lavera, lui et ses vêtements, et il sera impur jusqu’au soir.
20 But if a person who is unclean does not purify himself, he will be cut off from the assembly, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the LORD. The water of purification has not been sprinkled on him; he is unclean.
Si quelqu’un n’est pas purifié selon ce rite, son âme périra du milieu de l’assemblée, parce qu’il a souillé le sanctuaire du Seigneur, et qu’il n’a pas été aspergé d’eau de purification.
21 This is a permanent statute for the people: The one who sprinkles the water of purification must wash his clothes, and whoever touches the water of purification will be unclean until evening.
Cette ordonnance sera une loi perpétuelle. Celui aussi qui aura fait les aspersions de l’eau, lavera ses vêtements. Quiconque aura touché l’eau de l’expiation sera impur jusqu’au soir.
22 Anything the unclean person touches will become unclean, and anyone who touches it will be unclean until evening.”
Tout ce que touchera un impur, il le rendra impur: et l’homme qui touchera quelqu’une de ces choses, sera impur jusqu’au soir.
