Numbers 1
1 On the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting in the Wilderness of Sinai. He said:

2 “Take a census of the whole congregation of Israel by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.
«Fate il censimento di tutta la comunità degli Israeliti, secondo le loro famiglie, secondo il casato dei loro padri, contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, testa per testa,
3 You and Aaron are to number those who are twenty years of age or older by their divisions—everyone who can serve in Israel’s army.
dall'età di venti anni in su, quanti in Israele possono andare in guerra; tu e Aronne ne farete il censimento, schiera per schiera.
4 And one man from each tribe, the head of each family, must be there with you.
A voi si associerà un uomo per ciascuna tribù, un uomo che sia capo del casato dei suoi padri.
5 These are the names of the men who are to assist you: From the tribe of Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;
Questi sono i nomi degli uomini che vi assisteranno. Di Ruben: Elisur, figlio di Sedeur;
6 from Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
di Simeone: Selumiel, figlio di Surisaddai;
7 from Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;
di Giuda: Nacason, figlio di Amminadab;
8 from Issachar, Nethanel son of Zuar;
di Issacar: Netanaeel, figlio di Suar;
9 from Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon;
di Zàbulon: Eliab, figlio di Chelon;
10 from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud, and from Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;
dei figli di Giuseppe, per Efraim: Elisama, figlio di Ammiud; per Manasse: Gamliel, figlio di Pedasur;
11 from Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;
di Beniamino: Abidan, figlio di Ghideoni;
12 from Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;
di Dan: Achiezer, figlio di Ammisaddai;
13 from Asher, Pagiel son of Ocran;
di Aser: Paghiel, figlio di Ocran;
14 from Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;
di Gad: Eliasaf, figlio di Deuel;
15 and from Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.”

16 These men were appointed from the congregation; they were the leaders of the tribes of their fathers, the heads of the clans of Israel.
Questi furono i prescelti della comunità, erano i capi delle loro tribù paterne, i capi delle migliaia d'Israele.
17 So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated by name,
Mosè e Aronne presero questi uomini che erano stati designati per nome
18 and on the first day of the second month they assembled the whole congregation and recorded their ancestry by clans and families, counting one by one the names of those twenty years of age or older,
e convocarono tutta la comunità, il primo giorno del secondo mese; furono registrati secondo le famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando il numero delle persone dai venti anni in su, uno per uno.
19 just as the LORD had commanded Moses. So Moses numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai:
Come il Signore gli aveva ordinato, Mosè ne fece il censimento nel deserto del Sinai.
20 From the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, according to the records of their clans and families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Ruben, primogenito d'Israele, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, uno per uno, dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
21 those registered to the tribe of Reuben numbered 46,500.
i registrati della tribù di Ruben risultarono quarantaseimilacinquecento.
22 From the sons of Simeon, according to the records of their clans and families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Simeone, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, uno per uno, dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
23 those registered to the tribe of Simeon numbered 59,300.

24 From the sons of Gad, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Gad, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
25 those registered to the tribe of Gad numbered 45,650.

26 From the sons of Judah, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,

27 those registered to the tribe of Judah numbered 74,600.

28 From the sons of Issachar, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Issacar, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
29 those registered to the tribe of Issachar numbered 54,400.

30 From the sons of Zebulun, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Zàbulon, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
31 those registered to the tribe of Zebulun numbered 57,400.

32 From the sons of Joseph: From the sons of Ephraim, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Giuseppe: figli di Efraim, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
33 those registered to the tribe of Ephraim numbered 40,500.

34 And from the sons of Manasseh, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Manasse, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
35 those registered to the tribe of Manasseh numbered 32,200.

36 From the sons of Benjamin, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Beniamino, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
37 those registered to the tribe of Benjamin numbered 35,400.

38 From the sons of Dan, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Dan, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
39 those registered to the tribe of Dan numbered 62,700.
i registrati della tribù di Dan risultarono sessantaduemilasettecento.
40 From the sons of Asher, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Aser, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
41 those registered to the tribe of Asher numbered 41,500.
i registrati della tribù di Aser risultarono quarantunmilacinquecento.
42 From the sons of Naphtali, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Figli di Nèftali, loro discendenti secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dall'età di vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
43 those registered to the tribe of Naphtali numbered 53,400.
i registrati della tribù di Nèftali risultarono cinquantatremilaquattrocento.
44 These were the men numbered by Moses and Aaron, with the assistance of the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family.
Di quelli Mosè e Aronne fecero il censimento, con i dodici uomini capi d'Israele: ce n'era uno per ciascuno dei loro casati paterni.
45 So all the Israelites twenty years of age or older who could serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families.
Tutti gli Israeliti dei quali fu fatto il censimento secondo i loro casati paterni, dall'età di vent'anni in su, cioè tutti gli uomini che in Israele potevano andare in guerra,
46 And all those counted totaled 603,550.
quanti furono registrati risultarono seicentotremilacinquecentocinquanta.
47 The Levites, however, were not numbered along with them by the tribe of their fathers.
Ma quanti erano leviti, secondo la loro tribù paterna, non furono registrati insieme con gli altri.
48 For the LORD had said to Moses:
Il Signore disse a Mosè:
49 “Do not number the tribe of Levi in the census with the other Israelites.
«Della tribù di Levi non farai il censimento e non unirai la somma a quella degli Israeliti;
50 Instead, you are to appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, all its furnishings, and everything in it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its articles, care for it, and camp around it.
ma incarica tu stesso i leviti del servizio della Dimora della testimonianza, di tutti i suoi accessori e di quanto le appartiene. Essi porteranno la Dimora e tutti i suoi accessori, vi presteranno servizio e staranno accampati attorno alla Dimora.
51 Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever it is to be pitched, the Levites are to set it up. Any outsider who goes near it must be put to death.
Quando la Dimora dovrà partire, i leviti la smonteranno; quando la Dimora dovrà accamparsi in qualche luogo, i leviti la erigeranno; ogni estraneo che si avvicinerà sarà messo a morte.
52 The Israelites are to camp by their divisions, each man in his own camp and under his own standard.
Gli Israeliti pianteranno le tende ognuno nel suo campo, ognuno vicino alla sua insegna, secondo le loro schiere.
53 But the Levites are to camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony and watch over it, so that no wrath will fall on the congregation of Israel. So the Levites are responsible for the tabernacle of the Testimony.”
Ma i leviti pianteranno le tende attorno alla Dimora della testimonianza; così la mia ira non si accenderà contro la comunità degli Israeliti. I leviti avranno la cura della Dimora».
54 Thus the Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Gli Israeliti si conformarono in tutto agli ordini che il Signore aveva dato a Mosè e così fecero.
