Nehemiah 8
1 At that time all the people gathered together in the square before the Water Gate, and they asked Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.
Todo o povo se reuniu como um só homem no amplo lugar que estava em frente ao portão da água; e falaram com Esdras, o escriba, para trazer o livro da lei de Moisés, que Javé havia ordenado a Israel.
2 On the first day of the seventh month, Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly of men and women and all who could listen and understand.
Esdras, o sacerdote, trouxe a lei perante a assembléia, tanto homens como mulheres, e todos os que puderam ouvir com compreensão, no primeiro dia do sétimo mês.
3 So Ezra read it aloud from daybreak until noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate, in front of the men and women and those who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.
Ele leu a partir dela diante do amplo lugar que estava em frente ao portão da água desde cedo até o meio-dia, na presença dos homens e das mulheres, e daqueles que podiam entender. Os ouvidos de todo o povo estavam atentos ao livro da lei.
4 Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform built for this occasion. At his right side stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, and at his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hash-baddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
Esdras, o escriba, estava de pé em um púlpito de madeira, que eles tinham feito para o propósito; e ao seu lado estavam Mattitias, Sema, Anaías, Urias, Hilquias e Maaséias, em sua mão direita; e em sua mão esquerda, Pedaías, Misael, Malquias, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zacarias e Mesulão.
5 Ezra opened the book in full view of all the people, since he was standing above them all, and as he opened it, all the people stood up.
Ezra abriu o livro à vista de todo o povo (pois ele estava acima de todo o povo), e quando ele o abriu, todo o povo se levantou.
6 Then Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and with their hands uplifted, all the people said, “Amen, Amen!” Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
Então Esdras abençoou Yahweh, o grande Deus. Todas as pessoas responderam, “Amém, Amém”, com o levantar das mãos. Curvaram a cabeça e adoraram Yahweh com seus rostos no chão.
7 The Levites—Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah—instructed the people in the Law as they stood in their places.
Também Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, e os levitas, fizeram com que o povo entendesse a lei; e o povo permaneceu em seu lugar.
8 So they read from the Book of the Law of God, explaining it and giving insight, so that the people could understand what was being read.
Eles leram no livro, na lei de Deus, distintamente; e deram o sentido, de modo que eles entenderam a leitura.
9 Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to all of them, “This day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the Law.
Neemias, que era o governador, Esdras, o sacerdote e escriba, e os levitas que ensinavam o povo disseram a todo o povo: “Hoje é sagrado para Javé seu Deus”. Não choreis, nem choreis”. Pois todo o povo chorou quando ouviu as palavras da lei.
10 Then Nehemiah told them, “Go and eat what is rich, drink what is sweet, and send out portions to those who have nothing prepared, since today is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Então ele lhes disse: “Vão pelo seu caminho”. Comam a gordura, bebam o doce e mandem porções para aquele para quem nada está preparado, pois hoje é santo para nosso Senhor”. Não se entristeça, pois a alegria de Yahweh é sua força”.
11 And the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be still, since today is holy. Do not grieve.”
Então os Levitas acalmaram todo o povo, dizendo: “Calma, pois o dia é santo”. Não fiquem tristes”.
12 Then all the people began to eat and drink, to send out portions, and to rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that had been made known to them.
Todas as pessoas seguiram seu caminho para comer, beber, enviar porções e celebrar, porque tinham entendido as palavras que lhes foram declaradas.
13 On the second day of the month, the heads of all the families, along with the priests and Levites, gathered around Ezra the scribe to study the words of the Law.
No segundo dia, os chefes de família dos pais de todo o povo, os sacerdotes e os levitas se reuniram a Esdras, o escriba, para estudar as palavras da lei.
14 And they found written in the Law, which the LORD had commanded through Moses, that the Israelites were to dwell in booths during the feast of the seventh month.
Encontraram escrito na lei como Javé havia ordenado por Moisés que os filhos de Israel habitassem em cabanas na festa do sétimo mês;
15 So they proclaimed this message and spread it throughout their towns and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the hill country and bring back branches of olive, wild olive, myrtle, palm, and other leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.”
e que publicassem e proclamassem em todas as suas cidades e em Jerusalém, dizendo: “Ide à montanha, e pegai ramos de oliveira, ramos de oliveira silvestre, ramos de murta, ramos de palmeira e ramos de árvores grossas, para fazer abrigos temporários, como está escrito”.
16 And the people went out, brought back branches, and made booths on their own rooftops, in their courtyards, in the court of the house of God, and in the squares by the Water Gate and by the Gate of Ephraim.
Então as pessoas saíram e os trouxeram, e se fizeram abrigos temporários, todos no telhado de sua casa, em seus tribunais, nos tribunais da casa de Deus, no amplo lugar do portão de água, e no amplo lugar do portão de Efraim.
17 The whole assembly who had returned from exile made booths and lived in them. From the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated like this. And there was great rejoicing.
Toda a assembléia daqueles que haviam voltado do cativeiro fizeram abrigos temporários e viveram nos abrigos temporários, pois desde os dias de Josué, filho de Freira, até aquele dia as crianças de Israel não o haviam feito. Havia uma alegria muito grande.
18 Day after day, from the first day to the last, Ezra read from the Book of the Law of God. The Israelites kept the feast for seven days, and on the eighth day they held an assembly, according to the ordinance.
Também dia após dia, do primeiro ao último dia, ele leu no livro da lei de Deus. Eles guardaram a festa sete dias; e no oitavo dia foi uma assembléia solene, de acordo com a portaria.
