Matthew 21
1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent out two disciples,
૧જયારે તેઓ યરુશાલેમની નજીક આવ્યા અને તેઓ જૈતૂન નામના પહાડ પાસે બેથફાગે સુધી પહોંચ્યા, ત્યારે ઈસુએ બે શિષ્યોને મોકલીને
2 saying to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt beside her. Untie them and bring them to Me.
૨કહ્યું કે, “તમે સામેના ગામમાં જાઓ, તેમાં પ્રવેશતા જ તમને બાંધેલી એક ગધેડી તથા તેની પાસે બચ્ચું જોવા મળશે; તેઓને છોડીને મારી પાસે લાવો.
3 If anyone questions you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
૩જો કોઈ તમને કંઈ કહે તો તમારે કહેવું કે, ‘પ્રભુને તેઓની જરૂર છે,’ એટલે તે તેઓને તરત જ મોકલી દેશે.”
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
૪હવે આ એટલા માટે થયું કે પ્રબોધકે જે કહ્યું હતું તે પૂરું થાય કે,
5 “Say to the Daughter of Zion, ‘See, your King comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”
૫“સિયોનની દીકરીને એમ કહો કે, જુઓ, તારો રાજા તારી પાસે આવે છે, તે નમ્ર છે, તથા ગધેડા પર, હા, ખોલા પર, એટલે ગધેડીના વછેરા પર, સવાર થઈને આવે છે.”
6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them.
૬ત્યારે શિષ્યોએ જઈને ઈસુએ તેઓને જે ફરમાવ્યું હતું તેમ કર્યું.
7 They brought the donkey and the colt and laid their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them.
૭તેઓ ગધેડીને બચ્ચા સહિત લાવ્યા અને પોતાના વસ્ત્ર તેઓ પર નાખ્યાં, અને ઈસુ તેના પર સવાર થયા.
8 A massive crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
૮લોકોમાંના ઘણાંખરાએ પોતાના વસ્ત્ર રસ્તામાં પાથર્યા, બીજાઓએ વૃક્ષો પરથી ડાળીઓ કાપીને રસ્તામાં પાથરી.
9 The crowds that went ahead of Him and those that followed were shouting: “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!”
૯હવે આગળ ચાલનાર તથા પાછળ આવનાર લોકે પોકાર્યું કે, “દાઉદના દીકરાને હોસાન્ના, પ્રભુને નામે જે આવે છે તે આશીર્વાદિત છે; પરમ ઊંચામાં હોસાન્ના!”
10 When Jesus had entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
૧૦તેઓ જયારે યરુશાલેમમાં આવ્યા ત્યારે આખા નગરે ખળભળી ઊઠીને કહ્યું કે, ‘એ કોણ છે?’
11 The crowds replied, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
૧૧ત્યારે લોકોએ કહ્યું કે, “ઈસુ પ્રબોધક, જે ગાલીલના નાસરેથના, તે એ છે.”
12 Then Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves.
૧૨પછી ઈસુ ઈશ્વરના ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં ગયા. ત્યાં જેઓ વેચતા તથા ખરીદતા હતા, તે સર્વને તેમણે કાઢી મૂક્યા; અને નાણાવટીઓનાં બાજઠ, તથા કબૂતર વેચનારાઓનાં આસનો ઊંધા વાળ્યાં.
13 And He declared to them, “It is written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer.’ But you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”
૧૩ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “મારું ઘર પ્રાર્થનાનું ઘર કહેવાશે,’ એમ લખેલું છે, પણ તમે એને લૂંટારાઓનું કોતર બનાવ્યું છે.”
14 The blind and the lame came to Him at the temple, and He healed them.
૧૪ત્યાર પછી અંધજનો તથા અપંગો તેમની પાસે ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં આવ્યા અને તેમણે તેઓને સાજાં કર્યા.
15 But the chief priests and scribes were indignant when they saw the wonders He performed and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David!”
૧૫પણ જે ચમત્કારો તેમણે કર્યા, તથા જે બાળકો ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં મોટા અવાજે ‘દાઉદના દીકરાને હોસાન્ના’ પોકારતા હતાં, તેઓને જયારે મુખ્ય યાજકોએ તથા શાસ્ત્રીઓએ જોયા, ત્યારે તેઓ બહુ ગુસ્સે થયા.
16 “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked. “Yes,” Jesus answered. “Have you never read: ‘From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise’?”
૧૬તેઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, “તેઓ શું કહે છે, તે શું તું સાંભળે છે?” ત્યારે ઈસુ તેઓને કહે છે કે, ‘હા!’ “બાળકોના તથા નવજાત શિશુઓના મુખથી તેં સ્તુતિ સંપૂર્ણ કરાવી છે, એ શું તમે કદી નથી વાંચ્યું?”
17 Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where He spent the night.
૧૭પછી તેઓને મૂકીને નગર બહાર બેથાનિયામાં જઈને ઈસુએ રાતવાસો કર્યો.
18 In the morning, as Jesus was returning to the city, He was hungry.
૧૮હવે સવારે નગરમાં પાછા આવતા ઈસુને ભૂખ લાગી.
19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, He went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. “May you never bear fruit again!” He said. And immediately the tree withered. (aiōn g165)
૧૯રસ્તાની બાજુમાં એક અંજીરી જોઈને ઈસુ તેની પાસે ગયા, પણ તેના પર એકલાં પાંદડાં વગર બીજું કંઈ ન મળવાથી તેમણે તેને કહ્યું કે, “હવેથી તારા પર કદી ફળ ન લાગો;” અને એકાએક તે અંજીરી સુકાઈ ગઈ. (aiōn g165)
20 When the disciples saw this, they marveled and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”
૨૦તે જોઈને શિષ્યો આશ્ચર્ય પામીને બોલ્યા કે, “અંજીરી કેવી રીતે એકાએક સુકાઈ ગઈ?”
21 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.
૨૧ત્યારે ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપતા તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, જો તમને વિશ્વાસ હોય અને સંદેહ ન લાવો, તો આ અંજીરીને જે થયું તે તમે કરશો, એટલું જ નહિ પણ જો તમે આ પહાડને કહેશો કે, ‘તું ઊંચકાઈને સમુદ્રમાં પડ,’ તો તેમ જ થશે.
22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
૨૨જે કંઈ તમે વિશ્વાસ રાખીને પ્રાર્થનામાં માગશો, તે સઘળું તમે પામશો.”
23 When Jesus returned to the temple courts and began to teach, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to Him. “By what authority are You doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave You this authority?”
૨૩પછી ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં આવીને ઈસુ બોધ કરતા હતા, એટલામાં મુખ્ય યાજકોએ તથા લોકોનાં વડીલોએ તેમની પાસે આવીને કહ્યું કે, “તું કયા અધિકારથી એ કામો કરે છે? અને તે અધિકાર તને કોણે આપ્યો?”
24 “I will also ask you one question,” Jesus replied, “and if you answer Me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
૨૪ત્યારે ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપતાં તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “હું પણ તમને એક વાત પૂછીશ. તેનો જવાબ જો તમે આપશો તો હું કયા અધિકારથી એ કામો કરું છું, તે હું પણ તમને કહીશ.
25 What was the source of John’s baptism? Was it from heaven or from men?” They deliberated among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will ask, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
૨૫જે બાપ્તિસ્મા યોહાન આપતો હતો તે ક્યાંથી હતું સ્વર્ગથી કે માણસોથી?” ત્યારે તેઓએ પરસ્પર વિચાર કરીને કહ્યું, “જો આપણે કહીએ કે ‘સ્વર્ગથી,’ તો ઈસુ આપણને કહેશે કે, ત્યારે તમે તેના પર કેમ વિશ્વાસ કર્યો નહિ?
26 But if we say, ‘From men,’ we are afraid of the people, for they all regard John as a prophet.”
૨૬અથવા જો આપણે કહીએ કે ‘માણસોથી,’ તો લોકોથી આપણને બીક છે, કેમ કે સહુ યોહાનને પ્રબોધક માને છે.”
27 So they answered, “We do not know.” And Jesus replied, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
૨૭પછી તેઓએ ઈસુને ઉત્તર આપતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘અમે નથી જાણતા’. તેમણે પણ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “હું કયા અધિકારથી એ કામો કરું છું તે હું પણ તમને કહેતો નથી.
28 But what do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first one and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’
૨૮પણ તમે શું ધારો છો? એક વ્યક્તિને બે દીકરા હતા; તેણે પહેલાની પાસે આવીને કહ્યું કે, ‘દીકરા, તું આજ દ્રાક્ષાવાડીમાં જઈને કામ કર.’
29 ‘I will not,’ he replied. But later he changed his mind and went.
૨૯ત્યારે તેણે ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, ‘હું નથી જવાનો;’ તોપણ પછીથી તે પસ્તાઈને ગયો.
30 Then the man went to the second son and told him the same thing. ‘I will, sir,’ he said. But he did not go.
૩૦અને બીજા પાસે આવીને તેણે તેમ જ કહ્યું, ત્યારે તેણે ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે ‘હું જાઉં છું, સાહેબ,’ તોપણ તે ગયો નહિ.
31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” “The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you.
૩૧તો તે બન્નેમાંથી કોણે પોતાના પિતાની ઇચ્છા પ્રમાણે કર્યું? તેઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, ‘પહેલાએ.’ ઈસુ તેઓને કહે છે કે, “હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, દાણીઓ તથા કસબણો તમારી અગાઉ ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યમાં પ્રવેશ કરશે.
32 For John came to you in a righteous way and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
૩૨કેમ કે યોહાન ન્યાયીપણાને માર્ગે તમારી પાસે આવ્યો, તોપણ તમે તેના ઉપર વિશ્વાસ ન કર્યો પણ દાણીઓએ તથા વારંગનાઓ તેના પર વિશ્વાસ કર્યો; એ જોયા પછી પણ તમે પસ્તાવો કર્યો નહિ કે તમે તેના પર વિશ્વાસ કરો.
33 Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a tower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.
૩૩એક બીજું દ્રષ્ટાંત સાંભળો. એક જમીનદાર હતો, તેણે દ્રાક્ષાવાડી રોપી, તેની આસપાસ વાડ કરી, તેમાં દ્રાક્ષાકુંડ ખોદ્યો અને બુરજ બનાવ્યો, પછી ખેડૂતોને તે ઈજારે આપી, તે પરદેશ ગયો.
34 When the harvest time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit.
૩૪ફળની ઋતુ પાસે આવી ત્યારે તેણે ફળ લેવા સારુ પોતાના ચાકરોને તે ખેડૂતો પાસે મોકલ્યા.
35 But the tenants seized his servants. They beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.
૩૫ત્યારે ખેડૂતોએ તેના ચાકરોને પકડીને એકને માર્યો, બીજાને મારી નાખ્યો અને ત્રીજાને પથ્થરે માર્યો.
36 Again, he sent other servants, more than the first group. But the tenants did the same to them.
૩૬પછી તેણે અગાઉ કરતાં બીજા વધારે ચાકરોને મોકલ્યા, પણ તેઓએ તેઓને એવું જ કર્યું.
37 Finally, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.
૩૭પછી તેણે પોતાના દીકરાને તેઓની પાસે મોકલતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘તેઓ મારા દીકરાનું માન રાખશે.’”
38 But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance.’
૩૮પણ ખેડૂતોએ દીકરાને જોઈને પરસ્પર કહ્યું કે, ‘એ તો વારસ છે, ચાલો, આપણે એને મારી નાખીએ અને તેનો વારસો લઈ લઈએ.’
39 So they seized him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.
૩૯ત્યારે તેઓએ તેને પકડ્યો અને દ્રાક્ષાવાડીમાંથી બહાર કાઢીને તેને મારી નાખ્યો.
40 Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard returns, what will he do to those tenants?”
૪૦એ માટે જયારે દ્રાક્ષાવાડીનો માલિક આવશે ત્યારે તે ખેડૂતોનું શું કરશે?”
41 “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end,” they replied, “and will rent out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his share of the fruit at harvest time.”
૪૧તેઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, “તે દુષ્ટોનો પૂરો નાશ કરશે; અને બીજા ખેડૂતો કે જેઓ મોસમે તેને ફળ પહોંચાડે, તેઓને દ્રાક્ષાવાડી ઈજારે આપશે.”
42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?
૪૨ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “જે પથ્થરનો નકાર ઘર બાંધનારાઓએ કર્યો, તે જ ખૂણાનો મુખ્ય પથ્થર થયો. તે પ્રભુથી બન્યું અને આપણી નજરમાં આશ્ચર્યકારક છે,’ એ શું તમે શાસ્ત્રવચનોમાં કદી નથી વાંચ્યું?
43 Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.
૪૩એ માટે હું તમને કહું છું કે, ઈશ્વરનું રાજ્ય તમારી પાસેથી લઈ લેવાશે અને જે પ્રજા તેનાં ફળ આપશે, તેઓને તે અપાશે.
44 He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed.”
૪૪આ પથ્થર પર જે પડશે તેના ટુકડેટુકડાં થઈ જશે, પણ જેનાં પર તે પડશે, તેને તે કચડી નાખશે.”
45 When the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they knew that Jesus was speaking about them.
૪૫મુખ્ય યાજકો તથા ફરોશીઓ તેમના દ્રષ્ટાંતો સાંભળીને સમજ્યા કે તેઓ અમારા સંબંધી બોલે છે.
46 Although they wanted to arrest Him, they were afraid of the crowds, because the people regarded Him as a prophet.
૪૬તેઓ ઈસુને પકડવાનો રસ્તો શોધતા હતા પણ તેઓ લોકોથી ડરી ગયા, કેમ કે લોકો ઈસુને પ્રબોધક માનતા હતા.
