Matthew 16
1 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came and tested Jesus by asking Him to show them a sign from heaven.
੧ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੂਕੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਕੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਖਣ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜੋ ਸਵਰਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਵਿਖਾ।
2 But He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘The weather will be fair, for the sky is red,’
੨ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਜੋ ਭਲਕੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਸਾਫ਼ ਰਹੇਗਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਲਾਲ ਹੈ।
3 and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but not the signs of the times.
੩ਅਤੇ ਸਵੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦੇ ਹੋ, ਅੱਜ ਹਨੇਰੀ ਵਗੇਗੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਲਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਗਹਿਰਾ ਹੈ। ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ ਕਰਨੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ।
4 A wicked and adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.” Then He left them and went away.
੪ਇਸ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਾਮਕਾਰ ਲੋਕ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਯੂਨਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
5 When they crossed to the other side, the disciples forgot to take bread.
੫ਚੇਲੇ ਪਾਰ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਪਰ ਰੋਟੀ ਲੈਣੀ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
6 “Watch out!” Jesus told them. “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
੬ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਖ਼ਬਰਦਾਰ, ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੂਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਮੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੋ।
7 They discussed this among themselves and concluded, “It is because we did not bring any bread.”
੭ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੋ ਰੋਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਏ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
8 Aware of their conversation, Jesus said, “You of little faith, why are you debating among yourselves about having no bread?
੮ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੇ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਵਾਲਿਓ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਉਂ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਰੋਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ?
9 Do you still not understand? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?
੯ਭਲਾ, ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਵੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਪੰਜ ਰੋਟੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟਾਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਭੋਜਨ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਕਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਟੋਕਰੀਆਂ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਸਨ?
10 Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?
੧੦ਅਤੇ ਕੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਤ ਰੋਟੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਚਾਰ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟਾਈ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਭੋਜਨ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਕਿੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਟੋਕਰੇ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਸਨ?
11 How do you not understand that I was not telling you about bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
੧੧ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਰੋਟੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੀ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਕਿ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੂਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਮੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੋ?
12 Then they understood that He was not telling them to beware of the leaven used in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
੧੨ਤਦ ਉਹ ਸਮਝੇ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰੋਟੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਮੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੂਕੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਤੋਂ ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ।
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He questioned His disciples: “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
੧੩ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕੈਸਰਿਯਾ ਫ਼ਿਲਿੱਪੀ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਜੋ ਲੋਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ?
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
੧੪ਉਹ ਬੋਲੇ, ਕਈ ਤਾਂ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਜਾਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ।
15 “But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?”
੧੫ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਕੌਣ ਹਾਂ?
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
੧੬ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤੂੰ ਮਸੀਹ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈਂ।
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven.
੧੭ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ, ਯੋਨਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਸਰੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਲਹੂ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਵਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੀ।
18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
੧੮ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਪਤਰਸ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਪੱਥਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਲੀਸਿਯਾ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਫਾਟਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਵੱਸ ਨਾ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ। (Hadēs g86)
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
੧੯ਮੈਂ ਸਵਰਗ ਰਾਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁੰਜੀਆਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੇਗਾ ਸਵਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਖੋਲ੍ਹੇਗਾ ਸਵਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
20 Then He admonished the disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Christ.
੨੦ਤਦ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਦੱਸਣ, ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਮਸੀਹ ਹਾਂ।
21 From that time on Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and that He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
੨੧ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਲੱਗਾ, ਇਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ, ਮੁੱਖ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਝੱਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਦਿਨ ਜੀ ਉੱਠਾਂ।
22 Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. “Far be it from You, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to You!”
੨੨ਤਦ ਪਤਰਸ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਝਿੜਕਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ! ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ!
23 But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me. For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”
੨੩ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹੱਟ! ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਠੋਕਰ ਹੈਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
24 Then Jesus told His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.
੨੪ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦਾ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਲੀਬ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਚੱਲੇ।
25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
੨੫ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਚਾਉਣੀ ਚਾਹੇ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਆ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਗੁਆਏ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਵੇਗਾ।
26 What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
੨੬ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਲਾਭ ਜੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਵੇ, ਪਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਆ ਲਵੇ? ਅਥਵਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਕੀ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ?
27 For the Son of Man will come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done.
੨੭ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੜ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਹ ਹਰੇਕ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
28 Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”
੨੮ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕਈ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਐਥੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹਨ, ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾ ਚੱਖਣਗੇ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਨਾ ਵੇਖਣ।
