< Matthew 15 >

1 Then some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked,
Awo Abafalisaayo n’abannyonnyozi b’amateeka ne bava e Yerusaalemi ne bajja eri Yesu ne bamubuuza nti:
2 “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They do not wash their hands before they eat.”
“Abayigirizwa bo lwaki banyoomoola obulombolombo bw’Abakadde? Kubanga tebanaaba mu ngalo nga bagenda okulya emmere.”
3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?
Naye Yesu naye n’ababuuza nti, “Lwaki mumenya amateeka ga Katonda, nga mwerimbika mu bulombolombo bwammwe?
4 For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’
Katonda yagamba nti, ‘Kitaawo ne nnyoko obassangamu ekitiibwa. Oyo anaavumanga kitaawe ne nnyina battanga mutte,’
5 But you say that if anyone says to his father or mother, ‘Whatever you would have received from me is a gift devoted to God,’
Naye mmwe mugamba nti, Buli agamba kitaawe oba nnyina nti, ‘Ekirabo kye nandikuwadde nkiwaddeyo eri Katonda,’ omuntu oyo teyeetaaga kussaamu kitaawe kitiibwa.
6 he need not honor his father or mother with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
Noolwekyo tassaamu kitaawe oba nnyina kitiibwa. Bwe mutyo ne mudibya etteeka lya Katonda olw’obulombolombo bwammwe.
7 You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you:
Mmwe bannanfuusi! Nnabbi Isaaya yayogera bulungi ebyobunnabbi ebibakwatako bwe yagamba nti,
8 ‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.
“‘Abantu bano banzisaamu ekitiibwa kya ku mimwa.’ Naye emitima gyabwe gindi wala.
9 They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’”
‘Okusinza kwabwe kwa bwereere. Kubanga bayigiriza amateeka abantu ge beekoledde.’”
10 Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, “Listen and understand.
Yesu n’ayita ekibiina n’abagamba nti, “Mumpulirize era mutegeere.
11 A man is not defiled by what enters his mouth, but by what comes out of it.”
Omuntu ky’alya si kye kimwonoonyesa, wabula ekyo ekiva mu kamwa ke, kye kimwonoonyesa.”
12 Then the disciples came to Him and said, “Are You aware that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?”
Abayigirizwa be ne bajja gy’ali ne bamugamba nti, “Omanyi ebigambo byo nga bwe binyiizizza Abafalisaayo?”
13 But Jesus replied, “Every plant that My heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by its roots.
Naye Yesu n’addamu nti, “Buli kisimbe Kitange ali mu ggulu ky’ataasimba kigenda kusimbulwa.
14 Disregard them! They are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”
Noolwekyo mubaleke. Bakulembeze abazibe b’amaaso. Bafaanana omuzibe w’amaaso akulembera muzibe munne, kubanga bombi bagenda kugwa mu kinnya.”
15 Peter said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”
Peetero n’amugamba nti, “Tunnyonnyole olugero olwo.”
16 “Do you still not understand?” Jesus asked.
Yesu n’abagamba nti, “Nammwe era temunnategeera?
17 “Do you not yet realize that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then is eliminated?
Temumanyi nti buli muntu ky’alya kigenda mu lubuto mwe kiva n’akifulumiza mu kiyigo?
18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a man.
Naye ebintu ebiva mu kamwa, biva mu mutima ne byonoona omuntu.
19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander.
Kubanga mu mutima mwe muva ebirowoozo ebibi, obussi, n’obwenzi, eby’obukaba, n’obubbi, n’okuwaayiriza, n’okuvvoola.
20 These are what defile a man, but eating with unwashed hands does not defile him.”
Ebyo bye byonoona omuntu, naye okulya nga tonaabye mu ngalo, tekwonoona muntu.”
21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon.
Yesu n’ava mu kifo ekyo, n’agenda mu kitundu omuli ebibuga Ttuulo ne Sidoni.
22 And a Canaanite woman from that region came to Him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is miserably possessed by a demon.”
Awo omukazi Omukanani eyali abeera mu bitundu ebyo, n’ajja eri Yesu n’amwegayirira nti, “Onsaasire Mukama wange, Omwana wa Dawudi! Muwala wange aliko dayimooni amubonyaabonya nnyo.”
23 But Jesus did not answer a word. So His disciples came and urged Him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”
Naye Yesu n’asirika n’atamuddamu kigambo na kimu. Abayigirizwa be ne bajja ne bamugamba nti, “Bw’omugoba n’agenda. Ng’ayitirizza okutukaabirira.”
24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
Naye Yesu n’addamu omukazi nti, “Nze saatumibwa walala wonna, wabula eri endiga za Isirayiri ezaabula.”
25 The woman came and knelt before Him. “Lord, help me!” she said.
Naye omukazi n’asembera awali Yesu n’amusinza, n’amwegayirira ng’agamba nti, “Mukama wange, nnyamba.”
26 But Jesus replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Si kituufu okuddira emmere y’omwana okugisuulira embwa.”
27 “Yes, Lord,” she said, “even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”
Omukazi n’addamu nti, “Weewaawo, Mukama wange, naye n’embwa nazo zirya ku bukunkumuka obugwa wansi okuva ku mmeeza ya mukama waazo.”
28 “O woman,” Jesus answered, “your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
Awo Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Mukazi watu, ng’okukkiriza kwo kunene! Kale kikukolerwe nga bw’oyagala.” Amangwago muwala we n’awonera mu kiseera ekyo.
29 Moving on from there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee. Then He went up on a mountain and sat down.
Yesu n’avaayo n’ajja emitala okumpi n’ennyanja y’e Ggaliraaya n’alinnya ku lusozi n’atuula eyo.
30 Large crowds came to Him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and laid them at His feet, and He healed them.
Abantu bangi ne bajja gy’ali, ne bamuleetera, abakoozimbye, n’abatayogera n’abalala bangi ne babassa we yali n’abawonya.
31 The crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled restored, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel.
Abantu bangi ne beewuunya, nga balaba ababadde batayogera nga boogera, n’ababadde bakoozimbye nga bawonye, n’ababadde abalema nga batambula, n’ababadde abazibe b’amaaso nga balaba. Ne bagulumiza Katonda wa Isirayiri.
32 Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I have compassion for this crowd, because they have already been with Me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may faint along the way.”
Awo Yesu n’ayita abayigirizwa be n’abagamba nti, “Abantu bano mbasaasira, kubanga baakamala nange ennaku ssatu ate tebalina kyakulya. Ssaagala kubasiibula ne bagenda enjala, si kulwa nga bagwa ku kkubo.”
33 The disciples replied, “Where in this desolate place could we find enough bread to feed such a large crowd?”
Abayigirizwa ne bamugamba nti, “Wano mu ddungu tunaggya wa emigaati emingi gye tunaaliisa abantu abangi bwe bati?”
34 “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied, “and a few small fish.”
Yesu n’ababuuza nti, “Mulinawo emigaati emeka?” Ne bamuddamu nti, “Tulinawo emigaati musanvu n’ebyennyanja bitono.”
35 And He instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground.
Yesu n’alagira abantu bonna batuule wansi,
36 Taking the seven loaves and the fish, He gave thanks and broke them. Then He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
n’addira emigaati omusanvu n’ebyennyanja, bwe yamala okwebaza, n’abimenyaamenyamu, n’awa abayigirizwa be ne batandika okugabula ekibiina.
37 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
Buli muntu n’alya n’akkuta. Ne babukuŋŋaanya obutundutundu obwasigalawo ne bujjuza ebisero musanvu.
38 A total of four thousand men were fed, in addition to women and children.
Abaalya baawera abasajja enkumi nnya nga totaddeeko bakazi na baana.
39 After Jesus had dismissed the crowds, He got into the boat and went to the region of Magadan.
Awo Yesu n’asiibula ekibiina, n’asaabala mu lyato n’agenda mu nsalo y’e Magadani.
