Matthew 14
1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus
| در آن هنگام هیرودیس تیترارخ چون شهرت عیسی را شنید، | ۱ |
2 and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”
| به خادمان خود گفت: «این است یحیی تعمید‌دهنده که ازمردگان برخاسته است، و از این جهت معجزات از او صادر می‌گردد.» | ۲ |
3 Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,
| زیرا که هیرودیس یحیی را بخاطر هیرودیا، زن برادر خود فیلپس گرفته، در بند نهاده و در زندان انداخته بود؛ | ۳ |
4 because John had been telling him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”
| چون که یحیی بدو همی گفت: «نگاه داشتن وی بر تو حلال نیست.» | ۴ |
5 Although Herod wanted to kill John, he was afraid of the people, because they regarded John as a prophet.
| و وقتی که قصد قتل او کرد، از مردم ترسید زیرا که او را نبی می‌دانستند. | ۵ |
6 On Herod’s birthday, however, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod
| اما چون بزم میلاد هیرودیس را می‌آراستند، دختر هیرودیا درمجلس رقص کرده، هیرودیس را شاد نمود. | ۶ |
7 so much that he promised with an oath to give to her whatever she asked.
| از این‌رو قسم خورده، وعده داد که آنچه خواهدبدو بدهد. | ۷ |
8 Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.”
| و او از ترغیب مادر خود گفت که «سریحیی تعمید‌دهنده را الان در طبقی به من عنایت فرما.» | ۸ |
9 The king was grieved, but because of his oaths and his guests, he ordered that her wish be granted
| آنگاه پادشاه برنجید، لیکن بجهت پاس قسم و خاطر همنشینان خود، فرمود که بدهند. | ۹ |
10 and sent to have John beheaded in the prison.
| و فرستاده، سر یحیی را در زندان از تن جدا کرد، | ۱۰ |
11 John’s head was brought in on a platter and presented to the girl, who carried it to her mother.
| و سر او را در طشتی گذارده، به دختر تسلیم نمودند و او آن را نزد مادر خود برد. | ۱۱ |
12 Then John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. And they went and informed Jesus.
| پس شاگردانش آمده، جسد او را برداشته، به خاک سپردند و رفته، عیسی را اطلاع دادند. | ۱۲ |
13 When Jesus heard about John, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. But the crowds found out about it and followed Him on foot from the towns.
| و چون عیسی این را شنید، به کشتی سوارشده، از آنجا به ویرانه‌ای به خلوت رفت. و چون مردم شنیدند، از شهرها به راه خشکی از عقب وی روانه شدند. | ۱۳ |
14 When He stepped ashore and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them and healed their sick.
| پس عیسی بیرون آمده، گروهی بسیار دیده، بر ایشان رحم فرمود وبیماران ایشان را شفا داد. | ۱۴ |
15 When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”
| و در وقت عصر، شاگردانش نزد وی آمده، گفتند: «این موضع ویرانه است و وقت الان گذشته. پس این گروه رامرخص فرما تا به دهات رفته بجهت خود غذابخرند.» | ۱۵ |
16 “They do not need to go away,” Jesus replied. “You give them something to eat.”
| عیسی ایشان را گفت: «احتیاج به رفتن ندارند. شما ایشان را غذا دهید.» | ۱۶ |
17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
| بدو گفتند: «در اینجا جز پنج نان و دو ماهی نداریم!» | ۱۷ |
18 “Bring them here to Me,” Jesus said.
| گفت: «آنها را اینجا به نزد من بیاورید!» | ۱۸ |
19 And He directed the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He spoke a blessing. Then He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
| وبدان جماعت فرمود تا بر سبزه نشستند و پنج نان و دو ماهی را گرفته، به سوی آسمان نگریسته، برکت داد و نان را پاره کرده، به شاگردان سپرد وشاگردان بدان جماعت. | ۱۹ |
20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
| و همه خورده، سیر شدند و از پاره های باقی‌مانده دوازده سبد پرکرده، برداشتند. | ۲۰ |
21 About five thousand men were fed, in addition to women and children.
| و خورندگان سوای زنان واطفال قریب به پنج هزار مرد بودند. | ۲۱ |
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds.
| بی‌درنگ عیسی شاگردان خود را اصرارنمود تا به کشتی سوار شده، پیش از وی به کناره دیگر روانه شوند تا آن گروه را رخصت دهد. | ۲۲ |
23 After He had sent them away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone,
| وچون مردم را روانه نمود، به خلوت برای عبادت بر فراز کوهی برآمد. و وقت شام در آنجا تنها بود. | ۲۳ |
24 but the boat was already far from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
| اما کشتی در آن وقت در میان دریا به‌سبب بادمخالف که می‌وزید، به امواج گرفتار بود. | ۲۴ |
25 During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea.
| و درپاس چهارم از شب، عیسی بر دریا خرامیده، به سوی ایشان روانه گردید. | ۲۵ |
26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear.
| اما چون شاگردان، او را بر دریا خرامان دیدند، مضطرب شده، گفتندکه خیالی است؛ و از خوف فریاد برآوردند. | ۲۶ |
27 But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”
| اماعیسی ایشان را بی‌تامل خطاب کرده، گفت: «خاطر جمع دارید! منم ترسان مباشید!» | ۲۷ |
28 “Lord, if it is You,” Peter replied, “command me to come to You on the water.”
| پطرس در جواب او گفت: «خداوندا، اگر تویی مرا بفرما تا بر روی آب، نزد تو آیم.» | ۲۸ |
29 “Come,” said Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.
| گفت: «بیا!» در ساعت پطرس از کشتی فرود شده، برروی آب روانه شد تا نزد عیسی آید. | ۲۹ |
30 But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
| لیکن چون باد را شدید دید، ترسان گشت و مشرف به غرق شده، فریاد برآورده، گفت: «خداوندا مرادریاب.» | ۳۰ |
31 Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”
| عیسی بی‌درنگ دست آورده، او رابگرفت و گفت: «ای کم‌ایمان، چرا شک آوردی؟» | ۳۱ |
32 And when they had climbed back into the boat, the wind died down.
| و چون به کشتی سوار شدند، بادساکن گردید. | ۳۲ |
33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God!”
| پس اهل کشتی آمده، او راپرستش کرده، گفتند: «فی الحقیقه تو پسر خدا هستی!» | ۳۳ |
34 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret.
| آنگاه عبور کرده، به زمین جنیسره آمدند، | ۳۴ |
35 And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding region. People brought all the sick to Him
| و اهل آن موضع او را شناخته، به همگی آن نواحی فرستاده، همه بیماران را نزد او آوردند، | ۳۵ |
36 and begged Him just to let them touch the fringe of His cloak. And all who touched Him were healed.
| و از او اجازت خواستند که محض دامن ردایش را لمس کنند و هر‌که لمس کرد، صحت کامل یافت. | ۳۶ |
