Mark 12
1 Then Jesus began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a wine vat, and built a watchtower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.
Jésus se mit à les enseigner en paraboles: Un homme planta une vigne, il l'environna d'une haie, il y creusa un pressoir et y bâtit une tour; puis, il la loua à des vignerons et quitta le pays.
2 At harvest time, he sent a servant to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit of the vineyard.
Quand la saison fut venue, il envoya un serviteur auprès des vignerons, pour recevoir de leurs mains une part des fruits de la vigne.
3 But they seized the servant, beat him, and sent him away empty-handed.
Mais, l'ayant saisi, ils le battirent et le renvoyèrent les mains vides.
4 Then he sent them another servant, and they struck him over the head and treated him shamefully.
Il leur envoya encore un autre serviteur; mais ils le frappèrent à la tête et l'outragèrent.
5 He sent still another, and this one they killed. He sent many others; some they beat and others they killed.
Il en envoya un autre qu'ils tuèrent; puis, plusieurs autres, parmi lesquels ceux-ci furent battus et ceux-là tués.
6 Finally, having one beloved son, he sent him to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.
Il avait encore un fils unique et bien-aimé; il le leur envoya le dernier, en disant: Ils respecteront mon fils!
7 But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’
Mais ces vignerons se dirent entre eux: C'est l'héritier! Allons, tuons-le, et l'héritage sera à nous.
8 So they seized the son, killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.
Et l'ayant saisi, ils le tuèrent et le jetèrent hors de la vigne.
9 What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants, and will give the vineyard to others.
Que fera donc le maître de la vigne? Il viendra et fera périr ces vignerons, et il donnera la vigne à d'autres.
10 Have you never read this Scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
N'avez-vous point lu cette parole de l'Écriture: «La pierre, rejetée par ceux qui bâtissaient, est devenue la pierre de l'angle;
11 This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?”
c'est l'ouvrage du Seigneur, et c'est une merveille devant nos yeux»?
12 At this, the leaders sought to arrest Jesus, for they knew that He had spoken this parable against them. But fearing the crowd, they left Him and went away.
Alors ils cherchèrent à se saisir de lui; car ils comprirent bien que c'était pour eux qu'il avait dit cette parabole. Mais ils craignirent le peuple. Et le laissant, ils s'en allèrent.
13 Later, they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to catch Jesus in His words.
Ensuite, ils lui envoyèrent quelques-uns des pharisiens et des hérodiens, pour le surprendre dans ses paroles.
14 “Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are honest and seek favor from no one. Indeed, You are impartial and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay them or not?”
Ceux-ci vinrent donc et lui dirent: Maître, nous savons que tu es véridique et que tu ne te préoccupes de personne, parce que tu ne regardes pas à l'apparence des hommes; mais tu enseignes la voie de Dieu en toute vérité. Est-il permis de payer l'impôt à César, ou non?
15 But Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said, “Why are you testing Me? Bring Me a denarius to inspect.”
Payerons-nous, ou ne payerons-nous pas? Mais lui, connaissant leur hypocrisie, leur répondit: Pourquoi voulez-vous me tenter? Apportez-moi un denier, que je le voie.
16 So they brought it, and He asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they answered.
Et ils lui en apportèrent un. Alors il leur dit: Cette effigie et cette inscription, de qui sont-elles? Ils lui répondirent: De César.
17 Then Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” And they marveled at Him.
Jésus leur dit: Rendez à César ce qui est à César, et à Dieu ce qui est à Dieu. Et ils étaient dans l'étonnement à son sujet.
18 Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus and questioned Him:
Les sadducéens, qui disent qu'il n'y a point de résurrection, s'approchèrent de lui, et ils lui posèrent cette question:
19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man is to marry his brother’s widow and raise up offspring for him.
Maître, Moïse nous a donné cette loi: Si un homme a un frère qui vienne à mourir, laissant une femme sans enfants, il épousera la veuve et suscitera une postérité à son frère.
20 Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died, leaving no children.
Or, il y avait sept frères. Le premier épousa une femme, et mourut sans laisser d'enfants.
21 Then the second one married the widow, but he also died and left no children. And the third did likewise.
Le second épousa la veuve, et mourut sans laisser d'enfants; le troisième, de même.
22 In this way, none of the seven left any children. And last of all, the woman died.
Et aucun des sept n'a laissé d'enfants. Après eux tous, la femme mourut aussi.
23 In the resurrection, then, whose wife will she be? For all seven were married to her.”
Lors de la résurrection, duquel d'entre eux sera-t-elle la femme, puisque tous les sept l'ont eue pour femme?
24 Jesus said to them, “Aren’t you mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?
Jésus leur répondit: N'êtes-vous pas dans l'erreur, parce que vous ne comprenez pas les Écritures, ni la puissance de Dieu?
25 When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. Instead, they will be like the angels in heaven.
En effet, à la résurrection des morts, on ne se marie pas, et l'on n'est pas donné en mariage; mais les ressuscités sont comme des anges dans les cieux.
26 But concerning the dead rising, have you not read about the burning bush in the Book of Moses, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?
Quant aux morts et à leur résurrection, n'avez-vous pas lu, dans le livre de Moïse, ce que Dieu lui a dit près du buisson: «Je suis le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob»?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”
Il n'est pas le Dieu des morts, mais des vivants! Vous êtes dans une grande erreur.
28 Now one of the scribes had come up and heard their debate. Noticing how well Jesus had answered them, he asked Him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”
Alors un des scribes, qui les avait entendus discuter ensemble, sachant qu'il leur avait bien répondu, s'approcha et lui demanda: Quel est le premier de tous les commandements?
29 Jesus replied, “This is the most important: ‘Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.
Jésus répondit: Voici le premier: «Écoute, Israël! Le Seigneur, notre Dieu, est le seul Seigneur.
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
Tu aimeras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, de tout ton coeur, de toute ton âme, de toute ta pensée, et de toute ta force.»
31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
Et voici le second: «Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même.» Il n'y a point d'autre commandement plus grand que ceux-là.
32 “Right, Teacher,” the scribe replied. “You have stated correctly that God is One and there is no other but Him,
Le scribe lui répondit: Maître, tu as bien dit, et avec vérité, qu'il n'y a qu'un seul Dieu, et qu'il n'y en a point d'autre que lui;
33 and to love Him with all your heart and with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself, which is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
que l'aimer de tout son coeur, de toute son intelligence, et de toute sa force, et aimer son prochain comme soi-même, c'est plus que tous les holocaustes et que tous les sacrifices!
34 When Jesus saw that the man had answered wisely, He said, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no one dared to question Him any further.
Jésus, voyant qu'il avait répondu en homme intelligent, lui dit: Tu n'es pas loin du royaume de Dieu! Et personne n'osait plus l'interroger.
35 While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, He asked, “How can the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David?
Alors Jésus, enseignant dans le temple, prit la parole en ces termes: Comment les scribes disent-ils que le Christ est fils de David?
36 Speaking by the Holy Spirit, David himself declared: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet.”’
David lui-même a déclaré par le Saint-Esprit: «Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur: Assieds-toi à ma droite, jusqu'à ce que j'aie fait de tes ennemis ton marchepied»
37 David himself calls Him ‘Lord.’ So how can He be David’s son?” And the large crowd listened to Him with delight.
Puisque David lui-même l'appelle Seigneur, comment est-il son fils? Et une grande foule prenait plaisir à l'écouter.
38 In His teaching Jesus also said, “Watch out for the scribes. They like to walk around in long robes, to receive greetings in the marketplaces,
Il leur disait aussi dans son enseignement: Gardez-vous des scribes qui aiment à se promener en robes longues, à être salués dans les places publiques,
39 and to have the chief seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.
et qui veulent les premiers sièges dans les synagogues et les premières places dans les festins.
40 They defraud widows of their houses, and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will receive greater condemnation.”
Ces gens-là dévorent les maisons des veuves, en affectant de faire de longues prières: ils subiront une condamnation d'autant plus rigoureuse!
41 As Jesus was sitting opposite the treasury, He watched the crowd putting money into it. And many rich people put in large amounts.
Jésus, étant assis vis-à-vis du tronc, regardait comment la foule y mettait de l'argent. Plusieurs riches donnèrent beaucoup;
42 Then one poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amounted to a small fraction of a denarius.
une pauvre veuve vint, et elle y mit deux pites, qui font le quart d'un sou.
43 Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more than all the others into the treasury.
Alors, ayant appelé ses disciples, il leur dit: En vérité, je vous le déclare, cette pauvre veuve a donné plus que tous ceux qui ont mis dans le tronc.
44 For they all contributed out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”
Car tous les autres ont donné de leur superflu; mais celle-ci a donné de son indigence, tout ce qu'elle possédait, tout ce qu'elle avait pour vivre.
