Luke 2
1 Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that a census should be taken of the whole empire.
यह उस समय की घटना है जब सम्राट कयसर औगुस्तॉस की ओर से यह राज आज्ञा घोषित की गई कि सभी रोम शासित राष्ट्रों में जनगणना की जाए.
2 This was the first census to take place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.
यह सीरिया राज्य पर राज्यपाल क्वीरिनियुस के शासनकाल में पहली जनगणना थी.
3 And everyone went to his own town to register.
सभी नागरिक अपने नाम लिखवाने के लिए अपने-अपने जन्मस्थान को जाने लगे.
4 So Joseph also went up from Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, since he was from the house and line of David.
योसेफ़, दावीद के वंशज थे, इसलिये वह गलील प्रदेश के नाज़रेथ नगर से यहूदिया प्रदेश के बेथलेहेम अर्थात् दावीद के नगर गए
5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to him in marriage and was expecting a child.
कि वह भी अपनी मंगेतर मरियम के साथ, जो गर्भवती थी, नाम लिखवाएं.
6 While they were there, the time came for her Child to be born.
वहीं मरियम का प्रसवकाल पूरा हुआ
7 And she gave birth to her firstborn, a Son. She wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
और उन्होंने अपने पहलौठे पुत्र को जन्म दिया. उन्होंने उसे कपड़ों में लपेट कर चरनी में लिटा दिया क्योंकि यात्री निवास में उनके ठहरने के लिए कोई स्थान उपलब्ध न था.
8 And there were shepherds residing in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks by night.
उसी क्षेत्र में कुछ चरवाहे रात के समय मैदानों में अपनी भेड़ों की चौकसी कर रहे थे.
9 Just then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
सहसा प्रभु का एक दूत उनके सामने प्रकट हुआ और प्रभु का तेज उनके चारों ओर फैल गया और चरवाहे अत्यंत डर गए.
10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! For behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people:
इस पर स्वर्गदूत ने उन्हें धीरज देते हुए कहा, “डरो मत! क्योंकि मैं अत्यंत आनंद का एक शुभ संदेश लाया हूं, जो सभी के लिए है:
11 Today in the city of David a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord!
तुम्हारे उद्धारकर्ता ने आज दावीद के नगर में जन्म लिया है. प्रभु मसीह वही हैं.
12 And this will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
उनकी पहचान के चिह्न ये हैं: तुम कपड़ों में लिपटा और चरनी में लेटा हुआ एक शिशु पाओगे.”
13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a great multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying:
सहसा उस स्वर्गदूत के साथ स्वर्गदूतों का एक विशाल समूह प्रकट हुआ, जो परमेश्वर की स्तुति इस गान के द्वारा कर रहा था:
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests!”
“सबसे ऊंचे स्वर्ग में परमेश्वर की स्तुति; तथा पृथ्वी पर उनमें, जिन पर उनकी कृपादृष्टि है, शांति स्थापित हो.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
जब स्वर्गदूत स्वर्ग लौट गए तब चरवाहों ने आपस में विचार किया, “आओ हम बेथलेहेम जाकर वह सब देखें, जिसका प्रभु ने हम पर प्रकाशन किया है.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and the Baby, who was lying in the manger.
इसलिये वे तुरंत चल पड़े और बेथलेहेम नगर पहुंचकर मरियम, योसेफ़ तथा उस शिशु को देखा, जो चरनी में लेटा हुआ था.
17 After they had seen the Child, they spread the message they had received about Him.
उस शिशु का दर्शन कर वे उससे संबंधित सभी बातों को, जो उन पर प्रकाशित की गयी थी, सभी जगह बताने लगे.
18 And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
सभी सुननेवालों के लिए चरवाहों का समाचार आश्चर्य का विषय था.
19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
मरियम इन बातों को अपने हृदय में संजोकर उनके बारे में सोच-विचार करती रहीं.
20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, which was just as the angel had told them.
चरवाहे परमेश्वर की स्तुति तथा गुणगान करते हुए लौट गए क्योंकि जो कुछ उन्होंने सुना था और देखा था, वह ठीक वैसा ही था, जैसा उन पर प्रकाशित किया गया था.
21 When the eight days until His circumcision had passed, He was named Jesus, the name the angel had given Him before He had been conceived.
जन्म के आठवें दिन, ख़तना के समय, उस शिशु का नाम येशु रखा गया—वही नाम, जो उनके गर्भ में आने के पूर्व स्वर्गदूत द्वारा बताया गया था.
22 And when the time of purification according to the Law of Moses was complete, His parents brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord
जब मोशेह की व्यवस्था के अनुरूप मरियम और योसेफ़ के शुद्ध होने के दिन पूरे हुए, वे शिशु को येरूशलेम लाए कि उसे प्रभु को भेंट किया जाए.
23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord: “Every firstborn male shall be consecrated to the Lord”),
जैसा कि व्यवस्था का आदेश है: हर एक पहलौठा पुत्र प्रभु को भेंट किया जाए
24 and to offer the sacrifice specified in the Law of the Lord: “A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”
तथा प्रभु के व्यवस्था की आज्ञा के अनुसार एक जोड़ा पंडुकी या कबूतर के दो बच्चों की बलि चढ़ाई जाए.
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
येरूशलेम में शिमओन नामक एक व्यक्ति थे. वह धर्मी तथा श्रद्धालु थे. वह इस्राएल की शांति की प्रतीक्षा कर रहे थे. उन पर पवित्र आत्मा का आच्छादन था.
26 The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा उन पर यह स्पष्ट कर दिया गया था कि प्रभु के मसीह को देखे बिना उनकी मृत्यु नहीं होगी.
27 Led by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. And when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for Him what was customary under the Law,
पवित्र आत्मा के सिखाने पर शिमओन मंदिर के आंगन में आए. उसी समय मरियम और योसेफ़ ने व्यवस्था द्वारा निर्धारित विधियों को पूरा करने के उद्देश्य से शिशु येशु को लेकर वहां प्रवेश किया.
28 Simeon took Him in his arms and blessed God, saying:
शिशु येशु को देखकर शिमओन ने उन्हें गोद में लेकर परमेश्वर की स्तुति करते हुए कहा.
29 “Sovereign Lord, as You have promised, You now dismiss Your servant in peace.
“परम प्रधान प्रभु, अब अपनी प्रतिज्ञा के अनुसार अपने सेवक को शांति में विदा कीजिए,
30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation,
क्योंकि मैंने अपनी आंखों से आपके उद्धार को देख लिया है,
31 which You have prepared in the sight of all people,
जिसे आपने सभी के लिए तैयार किया है.
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to Your people Israel.”
यह आपकी प्रजा इस्राएल का गौरव, तथा सब राष्ट्रों की ज्ञान की ज्योति है.”
33 The Child’s father and mother were amazed at what was spoken about Him.
मरियम और योसेफ़ अपने पुत्र के विषय में इन बातों को सुन चकित रह गए.
34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to His mother Mary: “Behold, this Child is appointed to cause the rise and fall of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,
शिमओन ने मरियम को संबोधित करते हुए ये आशीर्वचन कहे: “यह पहले से ठहराया हुआ है कि यह शिशु इस्राएल में अनेकों के पतन और उत्थान के लिए चुना गया है. यह एक ऐसा चिन्ह होगा लोकमत जिसके विरुद्ध ही होगा.
35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed— and a sword will pierce your soul as well.”
यह तलवार तुम्हारे ही प्राण को आर-पार बेध देगी—कि अनेकों के हृदयों के विचार प्रकट हो जाएं.”
36 There was also a prophetess named Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, who was well along in years. She had been married for seven years,
हन्ना नामक एक भविष्यवक्तिन थी, जो आशेर वंश के फ़नुएल नामक व्यक्ति की पुत्री थी. वह अत्यंत वृद्ध थी तथा विवाह के बाद पति के साथ मात्र सात वर्ष रहकर विधवा हो गई थी.
37 and then was a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.
इस समय उनकी आयु चौरासी वर्ष थी. उन्होंने मंदिर कभी नहीं छोड़ा और वह दिन-रात उपवास तथा प्रार्थना करते हुए परमेश्वर की उपासना में तल्लीन रहती थी.
38 Coming forward at that moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the Child to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
उसी समय वह वहां आई और परमेश्वर के प्रति धन्यवाद व्यक्त करने लगीं. उन्होंने उन सभी को इस शिशु के विषय में सूचित किया, जो येरूशलेम के छुटकारे की प्रतीक्षा में थे.
39 When Jesus’ parents had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.
जब योसेफ़ तथा मरियम प्रभु के व्यवस्था में निर्धारित विधियां पूरी कर चुके, वे गलील प्रदेश में अपने नगर नाज़रेथ लौट गए.
40 And the Child grew and became strong. He was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon Him.
बालक येशु बड़े होते हुए बलवंत होते गए तथा उनकी बुद्धि का विकास होता गया. परमेश्वर उनसे प्रसन्न थे तथा वह उनकी कृपादृष्टि के पात्र थे.
41 Every year His parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover.
प्रभु येशु के माता-पिता प्रति वर्ष फ़सह उत्सव के उपलक्ष्य में येरूशलेम जाया करते थे.
42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up according to the custom of the Feast.
जब प्रभु येशु की अवस्था बारह वर्ष की हुई, तब प्रथा के अनुसार वह भी अपने माता-पिता के साथ उत्सव के लिए येरूशलेम गए.
43 When those days were over and they were returning home, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but His parents were unaware He had stayed.
उत्सव की समाप्ति पर जब उनके माता-पिता घर लौट रहे थे, बालक येशु येरूशलेम में ही ठहर गए. उनके माता-पिता इससे अनजान थे.
44 Assuming He was in their company, they traveled on for a day before they began to look for Him among their relatives and friends.
यह सोचकर कि बालक यात्री-समूह में ही कहीं होगा, वे उस दिन की यात्रा में आगे बढ़ते गए. जब उन्होंने परिजनों-मित्रों में प्रभु येशु को खोजना प्रारंभ किया,
45 When they could not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for Him.
प्रभु येशु उन्हें उनके मध्य नहीं मिले इसलिये वे उन्हें खोजने येरूशलेम लौट गए.
46 Finally, after three days they found Him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
तीन दिन बाद उन्होंने प्रभु येशु को मंदिर परिसर में शिक्षकों के साथ बैठा हुआ पाया. वहां बैठे हुए वह उनकी सुन रहे थे तथा उनसे प्रश्न भी कर रहे थे.
47 And all who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers.
जिस किसी ने भी उनको सुना, वह उनकी समझ और उनके उत्तरों से चकित थे.
48 When His parents saw Him, they were astonished. “Child, why have You done this to us?” His mother asked. “Your father and I have been anxiously searching for You.”
उनके माता-पिता उन्हें वहां देख चकित रह गए. उनकी माता ने उनसे प्रश्न किया, “पुत्र! तुमने हमारे साथ ऐसा क्यों किया? तुम्हारे पिता और मैं तुम्हें कितनी बेचैनी से खोज रहे थे!”
49 “Why were you looking for Me?” He asked. “Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?”
“क्यों खोज रहे थे आप मुझे?” प्रभु येशु ने उनसे पूछा, “क्या आपको यह मालूम न था कि मेरा मेरे पिता के घर में ही होना उचित है?”
50 But they did not understand the statement He was making to them.
मरियम और योसेफ़ को प्रभु येशु की इस बात का अर्थ समझ नहीं आया.
51 Then He went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But His mother treasured up all these things in her heart.
प्रभु येशु अपने माता-पिता के साथ नाज़रेथ लौट गए और उनके आज्ञाकारी रहे. उनकी माता ने ये सब विषय हृदय में संजोए रखे.
52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
प्रभु येशु बुद्धि डीलडौल तथा परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों की कृपादृष्टि में बढ़ते चले गए.
