Luke 1
1 Many have undertaken to compose an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,
੧ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਲਿਖਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
2 just as they were handed down to us by the initial eyewitnesses and servants of the word.
੨ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਤੋਂ ਚਸ਼ਮਦੀਦ ਗਵਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਬਚਨ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਨ।
3 Therefore, having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,
੩ਹੇ ਆਦਰਯੋਗ ਥਿਉਫ਼ਿਲੁਸ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਯਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸਾਰੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੋਈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਿਖਾਂ।
4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
੪ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਲਵੇਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪਾਈ।
5 In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah, and whose wife Elizabeth was a daughter of Aaron.
੫ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੇਰੋਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਅਬੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਦਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ, ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਜਕ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੀ ਸੀ।
6 Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and decrees of the Lord.
੬ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਸਨ।
7 But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well along in years.
੭ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਔਲਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਬਾਂਝ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਸਨ।
8 One day while Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God,
੮ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਹਜ਼ੂਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਿਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
9 he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
੯ਤਦ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੀ ਰੀਤ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪਰਚੀ ਨਿੱਕਲੀ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹੈਕਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਧੂਪ ਧੁਖਾਵੇ।
10 And at the hour of the incense offering, the whole congregation was praying outside.
੧੦ਧੂਪ ਧੁਖਾਉਣ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਬਾਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।
11 Just then an angel of the Lord appeared to Zechariah, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
੧੧ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਤ ਧੂਪ ਦੀ ਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਇਆ।
12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and gripped with fear.
੧੨ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਇਹ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਘਬਰਾ ਗਿਆ।
13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.
੧੩ਤਦ ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਨਾ ਡਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਸੁਣੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਰੱਖੀਂ।
14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice at his birth,
੧੪ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੋਕ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He shall never take wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb.
੧੫ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਮੈਅ, ਨਾ ਮਧ ਪੀਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੇ ਗਰਭ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
16 Many of the sons of Israel he will turn back to the Lord their God.
੧੬ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਵੱਲ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਵੇਗਾ।
17 And he will go on before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
੧੭ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਿਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਆਗਿਆ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਵੱਲ ਮੋੜੇ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰੇ।
18 “How can I be sure of this?” Zechariah asked the angel. “I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”
੧੮ਤਦ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਵਰਗ ਦੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਹੈ?
19 “I am Gabriel,” replied the angel. “I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
੧੯ਸਵਰਗ ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਮੈਂ ਜਿਬਰਾਏਲ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਦੱਸਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
20 And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”
੨੦ਵੇਖ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਤੂੰ ਗੂੰਗਾ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਲ ਨਾ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ, ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੇ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।
21 Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he took so long in the temple.
੨੧ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੈਕਲ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਧ ਸਮਾਂ ਲਾਉਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
22 When he came out and was unable to speak to them, they realized he had seen a vision in the temple. He kept making signs to them but remained speechless.
੨੨ਪਰ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੋਲ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੈਕਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੂੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
23 And when the days of his service were complete, he returned home.
੨੩ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
24 After these days, his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. She declared,
੨੪ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਛੁਪਾਇਆ,
25 “The Lord has done this for me. In these days He has shown me favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”
੨੫“ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ।”
26 In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,
੨੬ਛੇਵੇਂ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਜਿਬਰਾਏਲ ਦੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸਰਤ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਗਲੀਲ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ
27 to a virgin pledged in marriage to a man named Joseph, who was of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary.
੨੭ਇੱਕ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮੰਗਣੀ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਯੂਸਫ਼ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਸੀ।
28 The angel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
੨੮ਅਤੇ ਸਵਰਗ ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਆ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਅਨੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਜੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
੨੯ਪਰ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਬਚਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਬਰਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਚਣ ਲੱਗੀ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਵਧਾਈ ਹੈ?
30 So the angel told her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
੩੦ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨਾ ਡਰ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਈ
31 Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus.
੩੧ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖ ਤੂੰ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਂਗੀ, ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦੇਵੇਂਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਿਸੂ ਰੱਖੀ।
32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David,
੩੨ਉਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਅੱਤ ਮਹਾਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕਹਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
੩੩ਉਹ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। (aiōn g165)
34 “How can this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
੩੪ਤਦ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੇ ਦੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਹ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜਦ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.
੩੫ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਤ ਮਹਾਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਛਾਇਆ ਕਰੇਗੀ, ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਨਮ ਲਵੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕਹਾਵੇਗਾ।
36 Look, even Elizabeth your relative has conceived a son in her old age, and she who was called barren is in her sixth month.
੩੬ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਬਾਂਝ ਕਹਾਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੀ ਬੁਢਾਪੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਛੇਵਾਂ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਹੈ।
37 For no word from God will ever fail.”
੩੭ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਬਚਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਹੀਣ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her.
੩੮ਤਾਂ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਵੇਖ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੋਵੇ। ਤਦ ਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
39 In those days Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judah,
੩੯ਉਨ੍ਹੀਂ ਦਿਨੀਂ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਨਗਰ ਨੂੰ ਗਈ।
40 where she entered the home of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
੪੦ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ।
41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
੪੧ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ, ਕਿ ਜਦ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਨੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਬੱਚਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਛਲ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਈ।
42 In a loud voice she exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
੪੨ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਬੋਲੀ, ਤੂੰ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਫਲ।
43 And why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
੪੩ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਹ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋਈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਈ?
44 For as soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
੪੪ਵੇਖ, ਤੇਰੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ, ਬੱਚਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਕੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਛਲ ਪਿਆ।
45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord’s word to her will be fulfilled.”
੪੫ਅਤੇ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ, ਉਹ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।
46 Then Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord,
੪੬ਤਦ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
੪੭ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੁਕਤੀਦਾਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੋਈ,
48 For He has looked with favor on the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed.
੪੮ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਦੀ ਅਧੀਨਗੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ”। ਵੇਖੋ ਤਾਂ, ਹੁਣ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਆਖਣਗੀਆਂ,
49 For the Mighty One has done great things for me. Holy is His name.
੪੯ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਵੱਡੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ।
50 His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.
੫੦ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦਯਾ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਓਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
51 He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
੫੧ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿੱਤਰ-ਬਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਖਿਆਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਸਨ।
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones, but has exalted the humble.
੫੨ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬਲਵੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣ ਤੋਂ ਗਿਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
53 He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty.
੫੩ਉਸ ਨੇ ਭੁੱਖਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਜਾਇਆ, ਅਤੇ ਧਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਲੀ ਹੱਥ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
54 He has helped His servant Israel, remembering to be merciful,
੫੪ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਹਿਮ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੇ,
੫੫ਜੋ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਰਹੇਗਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਚਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। (aiōn g165)
56 Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
੫੬ਤਦ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਗਈ।
57 When the time came for Elizabeth to have her child, she gave birth to a son.
੫੭ਹੁਣ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਪੁੱਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they rejoiced with her.
੫੮ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਦਯਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਈ।
59 On the eighth day, when they came to circumcise the child, they were going to name him after his father Zechariah.
੫੯ਤਦ ਉਹ ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਦਿਨ ਬਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਰੱਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੀ।
60 But his mother replied, “No! He shall be called John.”
੬੦ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਆਖਿਆ, ਨਹੀਂ ਪਰ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਰੱਖਾਂਗੇ।
61 They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who bears this name.”
੬੧ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
62 So they made signs to his father to find out what he wanted to name the child.
੬੨ਤਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਨਾਮ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
63 Zechariah asked for a tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they were all amazed.
੬੩ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੱਟੀ ਮੰਗਾ ਕੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਭ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ।
64 Immediately Zechariah’s mouth was opened and his tongue was released, and he began to speak, praising God.
੬੪ਉਸੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਗਈ, ਉਹ ਬੋਲਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ।
65 All their neighbors were filled with awe, and people throughout the hill country of Judea were talking about these events.
੬੫ਤਦ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਡਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਫੈਲ ਗਈ।
66 And all who heard this wondered in their hearts and asked, “What then will this child become?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.
੬੬ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਭਲਾ, ਇਹ ਬਾਲਕ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ? ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ।
67 Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:
੬੭ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗਾ -
68 “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people.
੬੮ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
69 He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David,
੬੯ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਿੰਗ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ,
੭੦ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਅਖਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ। (aiōn g165)
71 salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,
੭੧ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਦੇਵੇ,
72 to show mercy to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant,
੭੨ਨਾਲੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਯਾ ਕਰੇ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨੇਮ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੇ,
73 the oath He swore to our father Abraham, to grant us
੭੩ਅਰਥਾਤ ਉਸ ਸਹੁੰ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਖਾਧੀ,
74 deliverance from hostile hands, that we may serve Him without fear,
੭੪ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਛੁੱਟ ਕੇ
75 in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our lives.
੭੫ਜੀਵਨ ਭਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰਤਾਈ ਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਰੀਏ।
76 And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for Him,
੭੬ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ, ਹੇ ਬਾਲਕ, ਅੱਤ ਮਹਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਬੀ ਅਖਵਾਵੇਗਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਚੱਲੇਂਗਾ,
77 to give to His people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins,
੭੭ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇਵੇਂ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਫ਼ੀ ਤੋਂ,
78 because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the Dawn will visit us from on high,
੭੮ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਦਯਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ ਜਦ ਸਵੇਰ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਸਵਰਗ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਮਕੇਗਾ,
79 to shine on those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
੭੯ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਹਨ੍ਹੇਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਨ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਕਦਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ।
80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the wilderness until the time of his public appearance to Israel.
੮੦ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਬਾਲਕ ਵੱਧਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਹਾ।
