< Judges 20 >
1 Then all the Israelites from Dan to Beersheba and from the land of Gilead came out, and the congregation assembled as one man before the LORD at Mizpah.
Gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli láti Dani dé Beerṣeba, àti láti ilẹ̀ Gileadi jáde bí ẹnìkan ṣoṣo wọ́n sì péjọ síwájú Olúwa ni Mispa.
2 The leaders of all the people and all the tribes of Israel presented themselves in the assembly of God’s people: 400,000 men on foot, armed with swords.
Àwọn olórí gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn láti gbogbo ẹ̀yà Israẹli dúró ní ipò wọn ní àpéjọ àwọn ènìyàn Ọlọ́run, ogún ọ̀kẹ́ ọkùnrin ológun ti àwọn àti idà wọn.
3 (Meanwhile the Benjamites heard that the Israelites had gone up to Mizpah.) And the Israelites asked, “Tell us, how did this wicked thing happen?”
4 So the Levite, the husband of the murdered woman, answered: “I and my concubine came to Gibeah in Benjamin to spend the night.
Ará Lefi náà, ọkọ obìnrin tí wọ́n pa fèsì pé, “Èmi àti àlè mi wá sí Gibeah ti àwọn ará Benjamini láti sùn di ilẹ̀ mọ́ níbẹ̀.
5 And during the night, the men of Gibeah rose up against me and surrounded the house. They intended to kill me, but they abused my concubine, and she died.

Nísinsin yìí, gbogbo ẹ̀yin ọmọ Israẹli, ẹ sọ ìmọ̀ràn yín, kí ẹ sì ṣe ìdájọ́ yín.”
8 Then all the people stood as one man and said, “Not one of us will return to his tent or to his house.
Gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn náà sì dìde bí ẹnìkan pẹ̀lú gbólóhùn kan wí pé, “Kò sí ẹnikẹ́ni nínú wa tí yóò lọ sí àgọ́ rẹ̀. Rárá o, kò sí ẹyọ ẹnìkan tí yóò padà lọ sí ilé rẹ̀.
9 Now this is what we will do to Gibeah: We will go against it as the lot dictates.
Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, ohun tí àwa yóò ṣe sí Gibeah ní yìí. Àwa yóò lọ kọlù ú bí ìbò bá ṣe darí wa.
10 We will take ten men out of every hundred from all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred out of every thousand, and a thousand out of every ten thousand, to supply provisions for the army when they go to Gibeah in Benjamin to punish them for the atrocity they have committed in Israel.”
A yóò mú ọkùnrin mẹ́wàá nínú ọgọ́rùn-ún nínú gbogbo ẹ̀yà Israẹli àti ọgọ́rùn-ún láti inú ẹgbẹ̀rún kan àti ẹgbẹ̀rún kan láti inú ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́wàá láti máa pèsè oúnjẹ fún àwọn ọmọ-ogun. 11 So all the men of Israel gathered as one man, united against the city.
Báyìí ni gbogbo àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli parapọ̀ ṣọ̀kan bí ọkùnrin kan ṣoṣo wọ́n sì dìde sí ìlú náà.
12 And the tribes of Israel sent men throughout the tribe of Benjamin, saying, “What is this wickedness that has occurred among you?
Àwọn ẹ̀yà Israẹli rán àwọn ọkùnrin sí gbogbo ẹ̀yà Benjamini wí pé, “Kí ni ẹ̀rí sí ìwà búburú yìí tí ó ṣẹlẹ̀ ní àárín yín?
13 Hand over the wicked men of Gibeah so we can put them to death and purge Israel of this evil.” But the Benjamites refused to heed the voice of their fellow Israelites.
Nítorí náà ẹ mú àwọn ẹni ibi ti Gibeah yìí wá fún wa, kí àwa lé pa, kí a sì fọ ìṣe búburú yìí mọ́ kúrò ní Israẹli.” Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini kò fetí sí ti àwọn arákùnrin wọn ọmọ Israẹli.
14 And from their cities they came together at Gibeah to go out and fight against the Israelites.
Àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini sì kó ara wọn jọ láti àwọn ìlú wọn sí Gibeah láti bá àwọn ọmọ Israẹli jà.
15 On that day the Benjamites mobilized 26,000 swordsmen from their cities, in addition to the 700 select men of Gibeah.
Ní ẹsẹ̀kẹsẹ̀ àwọn ará Benjamini kó ẹgbàá mẹ́tàlá àwọn ọmọ-ogun tí ń lọ dájọ́ láti àwọn ìlú wọn, yàtọ̀ sí àwọn ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀rin àṣàyàn ọkùnrin nínú àwọn tí ń gbé Gibeah.
16 Among all these soldiers there were 700 select left-handers, each of whom could sling a stone at a hair without missing.
Ní àárín àwọn ọmọ-ogun wọ̀nyí ni ó ti ní àwọn ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀rin àṣàyàn ọkùnrin tí wọ́n ń lo ọwọ́ òsì, tí ọ̀kọ̀ọ̀kan wọn dára dé bi pé wọ́n lè fi kànnàkànnà ba fọ́nrán òwú ní àìtàsé (wọ́n jẹ́ atamọ́tàsé).
17 The Israelites, apart from Benjamin, mobilized 400,000 swordsmen, each one an experienced warrior.
Àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli, yàtọ̀ sí àwọn ará Benjamini, ka ogún ọ̀kẹ́ àwọn tí ń fi idà jagun, gbogbo wọn jẹ́ akọni ní ogun jíjà.
18 The Israelites set out, went up to Bethel, and inquired of God, “Who of us shall go up first to fight against the Benjamites?” “Judah will be first,” the LORD replied.
Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli lọ sí Beteli, wọ́n sì béèrè lọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run. Wọ́n wí pé, “Ta ni nínú wa tí yóò kọ́ kojú àwọn ará Benjamini láti bá wọn jà?” Olúwa dáhùn pé, “Juda ni yóò kọ́ lọ.”
19 The next morning the Israelites set out and camped near Gibeah.
Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli dìde ní òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ kejì, wọ́n sì dó ti Gibeah (wọ́n tẹ̀gùn sí ẹ̀bá Gibeah).
20 And the men of Israel went out to fight against Benjamin and took up their battle positions at Gibeah.
Àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli jáde lọ láti bá àwọn ará Benjamini jà wọ́n sì dúró ní ipò ogun sí wọn ní Gibeah.
21 And the Benjamites came out of Gibeah and cut down 22,000 Israelites on the battlefield that day.
Àwọn ọmọ Benjamini sì jáde láti Gibeah wá wọ́n sì pa àwọn ọmọ ẹgbẹ̀rún méjìlélógún ọkùnrin nínú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ní ojú ogun ní ọjọ́ náà.
22 But the Israelite army took courage and again took their battle positions in the same place where they had arrayed themselves on the first day.
Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli mú ara wọn lọ́kàn le, wọ́n sì tún dúró sí ipò wọn ní ibi tí wọ́n dúró sí ní ọjọ́ àkọ́kọ́.
23 They went up and wept before the LORD until evening, inquiring of Him, “Should we again draw near for battle against our brothers the Benjamites?” And the LORD answered, “Go up against them.”
Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì lọ wọ́n sọkún ní iwájú Olúwa títí oòrùn fi wọ̀, wọ́n sì béèrè lọ́wọ́ Olúwa. Wọ́n ni, “Ṣé kí àwa tún gòkè lọ kí a sì bá àwọn ará Benjamini arákùnrin wa jà?” Olúwa dáhùn pé, “Lọ bá wọn jà.”
24 On the second day the Israelites advanced against the Benjamites.
Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì tún súnmọ́ tòsí àwọn ará Benjamini ní ọjọ́ kejì.
25 That same day the Benjamites came out against them from Gibeah and cut down another 18,000 Israelites, all of them armed with swords.
Ní ọjọ́ yìí nígbà tí ará Benjamini jáde sí wọn láti Gibeah, láti dojúkọ wọn, wọ́n pa ẹgbàá mẹ́sàn ọkùnrin Israẹli, gbogbo wọn jẹ́ jagunjagun tí ń lo idà.
26 Then the Israelites, all the people, went up to Bethel, where they sat weeping before the LORD. That day they fasted until evening and presented burnt offerings and peace offerings to the LORD.
Nígbà náà ni gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli àní gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn, gòkè lọ sí Beteli, níbẹ̀ ni wọ́n jókòó tí wọ́n sì ń sọkún níwájú Olúwa. Wọ́n gbààwẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ náà títí di àṣálẹ́, wọ́n sì rú ọrẹ ẹbọ sísun àti ọrẹ àlàáfíà sí Olúwa.
27 And the Israelites inquired of the LORD. (In those days the ark of the covenant of God was there,
Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì béèrè lọ́wọ́ Olúwa. (Ní ọjọ́ wọ̀n-ọn-nì àpótí ẹ̀rí Ọlọ́run wà níbẹ̀,
28 and Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, served before it.) The Israelites asked, “Should we again go out to battle against our brothers the Benjamites, or should we stop?” The LORD answered, “Fight, for tomorrow I will deliver them into your hand.”
Finehasi ọmọ Eleasari ọmọ Aaroni, ní ń ṣe iṣẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ ní iwájú rẹ̀.) wọ́n béèrè pé, “Ṣe àwa tún le lọ sí ogun pẹ̀lú Benjamini arákùnrin wa tàbí kí a má lọ?” Olúwa dáhùn pé, “Ẹ lọ nítorí ní ọ̀la ni èmi yóò fi wọ́n lé e yín lọ́wọ́.”
29 So Israel set up an ambush around Gibeah.
Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì yàn àwọn ènìyàn tí ó sá pamọ́ yí Gibeah ká.
30 On the third day the Israelites went up against the Benjamites and arrayed themselves against Gibeah as they had done before.
Wọ́n jáde tọ àwọn ọmọ Benjamini lọ ní ọjọ́ kẹta wọ́n sì dúró ní ipò wọn, wọ́n sì dìde ogun sí Gibeah bí wọ́n ti ṣe tẹ́lẹ̀ rí.
31 The Benjamites came out against them and were drawn away from the city. They began to attack the people as before, killing about thirty men of Israel in the fields and on the roads, one of which led up to Bethel and the other to Gibeah.
Àwọn ọmọ Benjamini sì jáde láti pàdé wọn, àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì tàn wọ́n jáde kúrò ní ìlú náà. Wọ́n bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí ní ṣẹ́gun àwọn ọmọ Israẹli bí i ti àtijọ́ dé bi pé wọ́n pa bí ọgbọ̀n ọkùnrin ní pápá àti ní àwọn òpópó náà—àwọn ọ̀nà tí ó lọ sí Beteli àti èkejì sí Gibeah.
32 “We are defeating them as before,” said the Benjamites. But the Israelites said, “Let us retreat and draw them away from the city onto the roads.”
Nígbà tí àwọn Benjamini ń wí pé, “Àwa ti ń ṣẹ́gun wọn bí i ti ìṣáájú,” àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ń wí pé, “Ẹ jẹ́ kí a sá kí a lè fà wọ́n kúrò ní ìlú sí ojú òpópó náà.”
33 So all the men of Israel got up from their places and arrayed themselves at Baal-tamar, and the Israelites in ambush charged from their positions west of Gibeah.
Gbogbo àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli dìde kúrò ní ipò wọn, wọ́n sì tẹ̀dó ogun ní Baali-Tamari, àwọn ọmọ-ogun Israẹli tí wọ́n sá pamọ́ sínú igbó jáde kúrò níbi tí wọ́n wà ní ìwọ̀-oòrùn Gibeah.
34 Then 10,000 select men from all Israel made a frontal assault against Gibeah, and the battle was fierce. But the Benjamites did not realize that disaster was upon them.
Nígbà náà ni ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́wàá àwọn àṣàyàn ológun àwọn ọmọ Israẹli gbógun ti Gibeah láti iwájú ogun náà le gidigidi dé bí i pé àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini kò funra pé ìparun wà nítòsí.
35 The LORD defeated Benjamin in the presence of Israel, and on that day the Israelites slaughtered 25,100 Benjamites, all armed with swords.
Olúwa ṣẹ́gun Benjamini níwájú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, ní ọjọ́ náà àwọn ọmọ Israẹli pa ẹgbàá méjìlá ó lé lẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀fà ọkùnrin Benjamini, gbogbo wọn fi idà dìhámọ́ra ogun.
36 Then the Benjamites realized they had been defeated. Now the men of Israel had retreated before Benjamin because they were relying on the ambush they had set against Gibeah.
Àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini sì rí pé wọ́n ti ṣẹ́gun àwọn. Àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli fàsẹ́yìn níwájú àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini nítorí pé wọ́n fọkàn tán àwọn tí ó wà ní ibùba ní ẹ̀bá Gibeah.
37 The men in ambush rushed suddenly against Gibeah; they advanced and put the whole city to the sword.
Àwọn ọkùnrin tí wọ́n lúgọ yára jáde wọ́n sì tètè wọ Gibeah, wọ́n fọ́nká wọ́n sì fi idà pa gbogbo àwọn tí ó wà nínú ìlú náà.
38 The men of Israel had arranged a signal with the men in ambush: When they sent up a great cloud of smoke from the city,
Àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli àti àwọn tí o ba ní ibùba sínú igbó ti fún ara wọn ní àmì pé, kí àwọn tí ó ba ní ibùba fi èéfín ṣe ìkùùkuu ńlá láti inú ìlú náà,
39 the men of Israel would turn in the battle. When the Benjamites had begun to strike them down, killing about thirty men of Israel, they said, “They are defeated before us as in the first battle.”
nígbà náà ni àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli yípadà, wọ́n sá gun. Àwọn ọmọ Benjamini sì ti bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí ṣẹ́gun àti ní pípa àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli tí ó to ọgbọ̀n, wọ́n sì wí pé, “Àwa ń ṣẹ́gun wọn bí ìgbà ìjà àkọ́kọ́.”
40 But when the column of smoke began to go up from the city, the Benjamites looked behind them and saw the whole city going up in smoke.
Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí ìkùùkuu èéfín bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí ní rú sókè láti inú ìlú náà wá, àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini yípadà wọ́n sì rí èéfín gbogbo ìlú náà ń gòkè sí ojú ọ̀run.
41 Then the men of Israel turned back on them, and the men of Benjamin were terrified when they realized that disaster had come upon them.
Àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli sì yípadà sí wọn, ẹ̀rù gidigidi sì ba àwọn ará Benjamini nítorí pé wọ́n mọ̀ pé àwọn wà nínú ewu.
42 So they fled before the men of Israel toward the wilderness, but the battle overtook them, and the men coming out of the cities struck them down there.
Wọ́n sì sá níwájú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sí apá àṣálẹ́, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò le sálà kúrò lọ́wọ́ ogun náà. Àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli tí ó jáde láti inú àwọn ìlú wọn wá pa wọ́n run níbẹ̀.
43 They surrounded the Benjamites, pursued them, and easily overtook them in the vicinity of Gibeah on the east.
Wọ́n yí àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini ká, wọ́n lépa wọn, wọ́n sì pa wọ́n run pẹ̀lú ìrọ̀rùn ní ibi ìsinmi wọn ní agbègbè ìlà-oòrùn Gibeah.
44 And 18,000 Benjamites fell, all men of valor.
Ẹgbàá mẹ́sàn àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini ṣubú, gbogbo wọn jẹ́ akọni jagunjagun.
45 Then the Benjamites turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, and Israel cut down 5,000 men on the roads. And they overtook them at Gidom and struck down 2,000 more.
Bí wọ́n ṣe síjú padà tí wọ́n sì ń sálọ sí apá ijù lọ sí ọ̀nà àpáta Rimoni ni àwọn ọmọ Israẹli pa ẹgbẹ̀rún márùn-ún ọkùnrin ní àwọn òpópónà. Wọ́n lépa àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini títí dé Gidomu, wọ́n sì tún bi ẹgbẹ̀rún méjì ọkùnrin ṣubú.
46 That day 25,000 Benjamite swordsmen fell, all men of valor.
Ní ọjọ́ náà ẹgbàá méjìlá ó lé ẹgbẹ̀rún jagunjagun Benjamini tí ń fi idà jagun ní ó ṣubú, gbogbo wọn jẹ́ akọni ológun.
47 But 600 men turned and fled into the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, where they stayed four months.
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹgbẹ̀ta ọkùnrin yípadà wọ́n sì sá nínú ààlà lọ sí àpáta Rimoni, níbi tí wọ́n wà fún oṣù mẹ́rin.
48 And the men of Israel turned back against the other Benjamites and put to the sword all the cities, including the animals and everything else they found. And they burned down all the cities in their path.
Àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli sì padà sí àwọn ìlú Benjamini wọn sì fi idà pa gbogbo ohun tí ó wà nínú àwọn ìlú wọn àti àwọn ẹran àti gbogbo ohun tí wọn ba níbẹ̀. Gbogbo ìlú tí wọ́n bá ní ojú ọ̀nà ni wọ́n fi iná sun.
