Judges 12
1 Then the men of Ephraim assembled and crossed the Jordan to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah, “Why have you crossed over to fight the Ammonites without calling us to go with you? We will burn your house down with you inside!”
೧ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯರು ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಉತ್ತರದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಚಾಫೋನಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಪ್ತಾಹನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಯಾಕೆ ಕರೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ? ಈಗ ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನೂ ಸುಟ್ಟುಬಿಡುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಅಂದರು.
2 But Jephthah replied, “My people and I had a serious conflict with the Ammonites, and when I called, you did not save me out of their hands.
೨ಆಗ ಅವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನನಗೂ ನನ್ನ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರೊಡನೆ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಿದ್ದಾಗ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕರೆದೆನು; ಆದರೆ ನೀವು ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅವರ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
3 When I saw that you would not save me, I risked my life and crossed over to the Ammonites, and the LORD delivered them into my hand. Why then have you come today to fight against me?”
೩ನೀವು ಸಹಾಯಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದೆನು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದನು. ಹೀಗಿರಲು ನೀವು ಈಗ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಕಲಹಮಾಡುವುದೇಕೆ?” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿ,
4 Jephthah then gathered all the men of Gilead and fought against Ephraim. And the men of Gilead struck them down because the Ephraimites had said, “You Gileadites are fugitives in Ephraim, living in the territories of Ephraim and Manasseh.”
೪ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತನು. ಆಗ ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯರು “ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯರಾದ ನೀವು, ನಮ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಮನಸ್ಸೆಯವರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ಸ್ವಕುಲವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಓಡಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೀರಿ” ಎಂದು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯರು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಸೋಲಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
5 The Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan leading to Ephraim, and whenever a fugitive from Ephraim would say, “Let me cross over,” the Gileadites would ask him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” If he answered, “No,”
೫ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಹಾಯಗಡಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹಿಡಿದರು. ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ದಾಟಗೊಡಿಸಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ಅವರು, “ನೀನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯನೋ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುವರು.
6 they told him, “Please say Shibboleth.” If he said, “Sibboleth,” because he could not pronounce it correctly, they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. So at that time 42,000 Ephraimites were killed.
೬ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲವೆಂದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಷಿಬ್ಬೋಲೆತ್ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವರು. ಹಾಗೆ ಅನ್ನಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾರದೆ ಅವನು ಸಿಬ್ಬೋಲೆತ್ ಅನ್ನುವನು. ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಹಾಯಗಡಗಳ (ಕಾಲ್ನಡಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ದಾಟಬಹುದಾದ ನಿರುಳ್ಳಸ್ಥಳ) ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುವರು. ಹೀಗೆ ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯರೊಳಗೆ ನಲ್ವತ್ತೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರು ಹತರಾದರು.
7 Jephthah judged Israel six years, and when he died, he was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.
೭ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯನಾದ ಯೆಪ್ತಾಹನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಆರು ವರ್ಷ ಪಾಲಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಸತ್ತನು; ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಒಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
8 After Jephthah, Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.
೮ಯೆಪ್ತಾಹನ ತರುವಾಯ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನವನಾದ ಇಬ್ಚಾನನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ನ್ಯಾಯಪಾಲಕನಾದನು.
9 He had thirty sons, as well as thirty daughters whom he gave in marriage to men outside his clan; and for his sons he brought back thirty wives from elsewhere. Ibzan judged Israel seven years.
೯ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳೂ, ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳೂ ಇದ್ದರು. ತನ್ನ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಬೇರೆಯವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಹೊರಗಿನ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಕನ್ಯೆಯರನ್ನು ತಂದನು.
10 Then Ibzan died, and he was buried in Bethlehem.
೧೦ಇವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಏಳು ವರ್ಷ ಪಾಲಿಸಿದನು. ಇಬ್ಚಾನನು ಸತ್ತ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು.
11 After Ibzan, Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel ten years.
೧೧ಇವನ ತರುವಾಯ ಜೆಬುಲೂನ್ಯನಾದ ಏಲೋನನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಪಾಲಕನಾಗಿ ಹತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಅವರನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದನು.
12 Then Elon the Zebulunite died, and he was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
೧೨ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಜೆಬುಲೂನ್ ದೇಶದ ಅಯ್ಯಾಲೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು.
13 After Elon, Abdon son of Hillel, from Pirathon, judged Israel.
೧೩ಇವನ ತರುವಾಯ ಪಿರಾತೋನಿನವನೂ, ಹಿಲ್ಲೇಲನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಅಬ್ದೋನನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಪಾಲಕನಾದನು.
14 He had forty sons and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy donkeys. And he judged Israel eight years.
೧೪ಇವನಿಗೆ ನಲ್ವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳೂ, ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮೊಮ್ಮಕ್ಕಳೂ ಇದ್ದರು. ಇವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ಸವಾರಿಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳಿದ್ದವು. ಪಿರಾತೋನಿನವನೂ ಹಿಲ್ಲೇಲನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಅಬ್ದೋನನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಎಂಟು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಪಾಲಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದನು;
15 Then Abdon son of Hillel, from Pirathon, died, and he was buried at Pirathon in Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.
೧೫ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಪಿರಾತೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು.
