Judges 10

1 After the time of Abimelech, a man of Issachar, Tola son of Puah, the son of Dodo, rose up to save Israel. He lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim.

Nach Abimelek kam zu Israels Rettung Tola, Puas Sohn und Dodus Enkel, aus Issakar. Er saß zu Samir auf dem Gebirge Ephraim.

2 Tola judged Israel twenty-three years, and when he died, he was buried in Shamir.

Er richtete Israel 23 Jahre. Dann starb er und ward in Samir begraben.

3 Tola was followed by Jair the Gileadite, who judged Israel twenty-two years.

Nach ihm kam der Gileadite Jair und richtete Israel 22 Jahre.

4 He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys. And they had thirty towns in the land of Gilead, which to this day are called Havvoth-jair.

Er hatte dreißig Söhne, die auf dreißig Eselsfüllen ritten und dreißig Städte besaßen. Diese nennt man Jairs Zeltdörfer bis auf diesen Tag. Sie sind im Lande Gilead.

5 When Jair died, he was buried in Kamon.

Jair starb und ward in Kanon begraben.

6 And again the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD. They served the Baals, the Ashtoreths, the gods of Aram, Sidon, and Moab, and the gods of the Ammonites and Philistines. Thus they forsook the LORD and did not serve Him.

Und wieder taten die Israeliten, was dem Herrn mißfiel, und sie dienten den Baalen und Astarten und den Göttern Syriens, Sidons, Moabs und den Göttern der Ammoniter und der Philister. So verließen sie den Herrn und dienten ihm nicht mehr.

7 So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and Ammonites,

Da entbrannte des Herrn Zorn wider Israel, und er verkaufte sie in die Hand der Philister und der Ammoniter.

8 who that very year harassed and oppressed the Israelites, and did so for eighteen years to all the Israelites on the other side of the Jordan in Gilead, the land of the Amorites.

Und diese quälten und plagten die Israeliten zehn Jahre lang, alle Israeliten jenseits des Jordans im Amoriterlande, in Gilead.

9 The Ammonites also crossed the Jordan to fight against Judah, Benjamin, and the house of Ephraim, and Israel was in deep distress.

Dann zogen die Ammoniter über den Jordan, um auch mit Juda, Benjamin und dem Hause Ephraim zu streiten. Und Israel kam in große Not.

10 Then the Israelites cried out to the LORD, saying, “We have sinned against You, for we have indeed forsaken our God and served the Baals.”

Da schrien die Israeliten zum Herrn und sprachen: "Wir haben wider Dich gesündigt; denn wir haben in der Tat unseren Gott verlassen und den Baalen gedient."

11 The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, Amorites, Ammonites, Philistines,

Da sprach der Herr zu den Israeliten: "Haben nicht Leute der Ägypter und Amoriter, der Ammoniter und Philister,

12 Sidonians, Amalekites, and Maonites oppressed you and you cried out to Me, did I not save you from their hands?

Sidonier, Amalek und Maon euch bedrängt? Da schriet ihr zu mir, und ich befreite euch aus ihrer Hand.

13 But you have forsaken Me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you.

Da verließet ihr mich und dientet anderen Göttern. Darum helfe ich euch nicht länger.

14 Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you in your time of trouble.”

Geht und ruft zu den Göttern, die ihr erwählt habt! Sie mögen euch in euren Nöten helfen!"

15 “We have sinned,” the Israelites said to the LORD. “Deal with us as You see fit; but please deliver us today!”

Da sprachen die Israeliten zum Herrn: "Wir haben gesündigt. Tu mit uns, wie es Dir gefällt! Nur rette uns jetzt!"

16 So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD, and He could no longer bear the misery of Israel.

Und sie schafften des Auslands Götter aus ihrer Mitte und dienten dem Herrn. Da ward er über Israels Elend ungeduldig.

17 Then the Ammonites were called to arms and camped in Gilead, and the Israelites assembled and camped at Mizpah.

Die Ammoniter aber wurden wieder aufgeboten und lagerten in Gilead. Da kamen auch die Israeliten zusammen und lagerten in der Mispa.

18 And the rulers of Gilead said to one another, “Whoever will launch the attack against the Ammonites will be the head of all who live in Gilead.”

Da sprach das Volk in Gileads Städten zueinander: "Wer ist der Mann, der mit den Ammonitern zu streiten beginnt? Er soll das Haupt aller Insassen Gileads werden!"
