Joshua 21
1 Now the family heads of the Levites approached Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the other tribes of Israel
| وَأَقْبَلَ رُؤَسَاءُ عَائِلاتِ سِبْطِ لاوِي إِلَى أَلِعَازَارَ الْكَاهِنِ وَيَشُوعَ بْنِ نُونٍ وَزُعَمَاءِ أَسْبَاطِ إِسْرَائِيلَ | ١ |
2 at Shiloh in the land of Canaan and said to them, “The LORD commanded through Moses that we be given cities in which to live, together with pasturelands for our livestock.”
| فِي شِيلُوهَ وَقَالُوا: «لَقَدْ أَمَرَ الرَّبُّ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُوسَى أَنْ نَرِثَ مُدُناً مَعَ مَرَاعِيهَا لِنُقِيمَ فِيهَا وَلِتَرْعَى بَهَائِمُنَا فِي حُقُولِهَا». | ٢ |
3 So by the command of the LORD, the Israelites gave the Levites these cities and their pasturelands out of their own inheritance:
| فَأَعْطَى أَبْنَاءُ إِسْرَائِيلَ اللّاوِيِّينَ بِالْقُرْعَةِ هَذِهِ الْمُدُنَ وَمَرَاعِيهَا مِنْ أَنْصِبَتِهِمْ عَمَلاً بِأَمْرِ الرَّبِّ. | ٣ |
4 The first lot came out for the Kohathite clans. The Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest received thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.
| فَأَخَذَ أَبْنَاءُ هرُونَ الْكَاهِنِ اللّاوِيُّونَ الْمُنْتَمُونَ إِلَى عَشَائِرِ القَهَاتِيِّينَ ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً كَانَتْ مِنْ نَصِيبِ أَسْبَاطِ يَهُوذَا وَشِمْعُونَ وَبَنْيَامِينَ | ٤ |
5 The remaining descendants of Kohath received ten cities by lot from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
| وَحَصَلَ بَنُو قَهَاتَ البَاقُونَ عَلَى عَشَرِ مُدُنٍ كَانَتْ مِنْ مِيرَاثِ عَشَائِرِ أَسْبَاطِ أَفْرَايِمَ وَدَانٍ وَنِصْفِ مَنَسَّى. | ٥ |
6 The descendants of Gershon received thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.
| وَأَخَذَتْ عَائِلَةُ جَرْشُونَ ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً فِي أَرْضِ بَاشَانَ كَانَتْ مِنْ نَصِيبِ أَسْبَاطِ يَسَّاكَرَ وَنَفْتَالِي وَنِصْفِ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى. | ٦ |
7 And the descendants of Merari received twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
| وَوَرِثَ أَبْنَاءُ مَرَارِي اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً كَانَتْ مِلْكاً لأَسْبَاطِ رَأُوبَيْنَ وَجَادٍ وَزَبُولُونَ. | ٧ |
8 So the Israelites allotted to the Levites these cities, together with their pasturelands, as the LORD had commanded through Moses.
| وَهَكَذَا أَعْطَى الإِسْرَائِيلِيُّونَ اللّاوِيِّينَ بِالْقُرْعَةِ هَذِهِ الْمُدُنَ مَعَ مَرَاعِيهَا عَمَلاً بِأَمْرِ الرَّبِّ لِمُوسَى. | ٨ |
9 From the tribes of Judah and Simeon, they designated these cities by name
| أَمَّا أَسْمَاءُ الْمُدُنِ الَّتِي حَصَلَ عَلَيْهَا اللّاوِيُّونَ بِالْقُرْعَةِ مِنْ نَصِيبِ سِبْطَيْ يَهُوذَا وَشِمْعُونَ فَهِيَ: | ٩ |
10 to the descendants of Aaron from the Kohathite clans of the Levites, because the first lot fell to them:
| أَخَذَ أَبْنَاءُ هرُونَ مِنْ عَشَائِرِ الْقَهَاتِيِّينَ اللّاوِيِّينَ. | ١٠ |
11 They gave them Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), with its surrounding pasturelands, in the hill country of Judah. (Arba was the father of Anak.)
| قَرْيَةَ أَرْبَعَ أَبِي عَنَاقٍ الْمَعْرُوفَةَ بِحَبْرُونَ فِي جَبَلِ يَهُوذَا مَعَ مَرَاعِيهَا الْمُحِيطَةِ بِها | ١١ |
12 But they had given the fields and villages around the city to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his possession.
| أَمَّا حَقْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ وَضِيَاعُهَا فَقَدْ بَقِيَتْ مِلْكاً لِكَالَبَ بْنِ يَفُنَّةَ. | ١٢ |
13 So to the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave these cities, together with their pasturelands: Hebron, a city of refuge for the manslayer, Libnah,
| وَهَكَذَا أَصْبَحَتْ مَدِينَةُ الْمَلْجَإِ حَبْرُونُ مَعَ مَرَاعِيهَا وَلِبْنَةُ وَمَرَاعِيهَا مِيرَاثاً لأَبْنَاءِ هَرُونَ الْكَاهِنِ | ١٣ |
14 Jattir, Eshtemoa,
| فَضْلاً عَنْ يَتِّيرَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَأَشْتَمُوعَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، | ١٤ |
15 Holon, Debir,
| وَحُولُونَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَدَبِيرَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، | ١٥ |
16 Ain, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh—nine cities from these two tribes, together with their pasturelands.
| وَعَيْنَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَيُطَّةَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَبَيْتِ شَمْسٍ وَمَرْعَاهَا. فَكَانَتْ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا تِسْعَ مُدُنٍ وُهِبَتْ لَهُمْ مِنْ نَصِيبِ هَذَيْنِ السِّبْطَيْنِ. | ١٦ |
17 And from the tribe of Benjamin they gave them Gibeon, Geba,
| كَمَا أَخَذُوا مِنْ نَصِيبِ سِبْطِ بِنْيَامِينَ كُلًا مِنْ مَدِينَتَيْ جِبْعُونَ وَجِبْعَ مَعَ مَرَاعِيهِمَا، | ١٧ |
18 Anathoth, and Almon—four cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَعَنَاثُوثَ وَعَلْمُونَ مَعَ الْمَرَاعِي الْمُحِيطَةِ بِهِمَا. وَهِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا أَرْبَعُ مُدُنٍ. | ١٨ |
19 In all, thirteen cities, together with their pasturelands, were given to the priests, the descendants of Aaron.
| فَكَانَ مَجْمُوعُ مَا امْتَلَكَهُ أَبْنَاءُ هرُونَ الْكَهَنَةُ ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً مَعَ مَرَاعِيهَا. | ١٩ |
20 The remaining Kohathite clans of the Levites were allotted these cities: From the tribe of Ephraim
| أَمَّا بَقِيَّةُ عَشَائِرِ الْقَهَاتِيِّينَ فَكَانَتْ قُرْعَتُهُمْ مِنْ مُدُنِ سِبْطِ أَفْرَايِمَ هِيَ: | ٢٠ |
21 they were given Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim (a city of refuge for the manslayer), Gezer,
| شَكِيمُ وَمَرْعَاهَا فِي جَبَلِ أَفْرَايِمَ وَهِيَ مَدِينَةُ مَلْجَأٍ. وَجَازَرُ وَمَرْعَاهَا، | ٢١ |
22 Kibzaim, and Beth-horon—four cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَقِبْصَايِمُ وَبَيْتُ حُورُونَ مَعَ مَرَاعِيهِمَا. وَهِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا أَرْبَعُ مُدُنٍ. | ٢٢ |
23 From the tribe of Dan they were given Elteke, Gibbethon,
| وَمِنْ سِبْطِ دَانٍ إِلْتَقَى وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَجِبَّثُونُ وَمَرْعَاهَا، | ٢٣ |
24 Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon—four cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَأَيَّلُونُ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَجَتُّ رِمُّونَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَهِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا أَرْبَعُ مُدُنٍ. | ٢٤ |
25 And from the half-tribe of Manasseh they were given Taanach and Gath-rimmon—two cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَمِنْ نِصْفِ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى تَعْنَكُ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَجَتُّ رِمُّونَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَهُمَا مَدِينَتَانِ. | ٢٥ |
26 In all, ten cities, together with their pasturelands, were given to the rest of the Kohathite clans.
| فَكَانَ مَجْمُوعُ مَا حَصَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ عَشَائِرُ الْقَهَاتِيِّينَ عَشْرَ مُدُنٍ مَعَ مَرَاعِيهَا. | ٢٦ |
27 This is what the Levite clans of the Gershonites were given: From the half-tribe of Manasseh they were given Golan in Bashan, a city of refuge for the manslayer, and Beeshterah—two cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَمِنْ نَصِيبِ نِصْفِ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى أَخَذَتْ عَشَائِرُ الْجَرْشُونِيِّينَ اللّاوِيِّينَ: جُولانَ فِي بَاشَانَ مَدِينَةَ مَلْجَإٍ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَبَعَشْتَرَةَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَهُمَا مَدِينَتَانِ. | ٢٧ |
28 From the tribe of Issachar they were given Kishion, Daberath,
| وَمِنْ سِبْطِ يَسَّاكَرَ أَخَذُوا قِشْيُونَ وَمَرْعَاهَا وَدَبْرَةَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، | ٢٨ |
29 Jarmuth, and En-gannim—four cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَيَرْمُوتَ وَمَرْعَاهَا وَعَيْنَ جِنِّيمَ وَمَرْعَاهَا. وَهِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا أَرْبَعُ مُدُنٍ. | ٢٩ |
30 From the tribe of Asher they were given Mishal, Abdon,
| وَمِنْ سِبْطِ أَشِيرَ مِشْآلَ وَمَرْعَاهَا وَعَبْدُونَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، | ٣٠ |
31 Helkath, and Rehob—four cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَحَلْقَةَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَرَحُوبَ وَمَرْعَاهَا. وَهِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا أَرْبَعُ مُدُنٍ. | ٣١ |
32 And from the tribe of Naphtali they were given Kedesh in Galilee (a city of refuge for the manslayer), Hammoth-dor, and Kartan—three cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَمِنْ سِبْطِ نَفْتَالِي، أَخَذُوا: قَادَشَ فِي الْجَلِيلِ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَهِيَ مَدِينَةُ مَلْجَإٍ، وَحَمُّوتَ دُورٍ وَمَرْعَاهَا وَقَرْتَانَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَهِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا ثَلاثُ مُدُنٍ. | ٣٢ |
33 In all, thirteen cities, together with their pasturelands, were given to the Gershonite clans.
| فَكَانَ مَجْمُوعُ نَصِيبِ الْجَرْشُونِيِّينَ حَسَبَ عَشَائِرِهِمْ ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً مَعَ مَرَاعِيهَا. | ٣٣ |
34 This is what the Merarite clan (the rest of the Levites) were given: From the tribe of Zebulun they were given Jokneam, Kartah,
| أَمَّا بَقِيَّةُ سِبْطِ لاوِي، وَهُمْ عَائِلَةُ مَرَارِي، فَقَدْ أَخَذُوا مِنْ سِبْطِ زَبُولُونَ يَقْنَعَامَ وَمَرْعَاهَا وَقَرْتَةَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، | ٣٤ |
35 Dimnah, and Nahalal—four cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَدِمْنَةَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَنَحْلالَ وَمَرْعَاهَا. وَهِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا أَرْبَعُ مُدُنٍ. | ٣٥ |
36 From the tribe of Reuben they were given Bezer, Jahaz,
| وَأَخَذُوا مِنْ سِبْطِ رَأُوبَيْنَ بَاصَرَ وَمَرْعَاهَا وَيَهْصَةَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، | ٣٦ |
37 Kedemoth, and Mephaath—four cities, together with their pasturelands.
| وَقَدِيمُوتَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَمَيْفَعَةَ وَمَرْعَاهَا. وَهِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا أَرْبَعُ مُدُنٍ. | ٣٧ |
38 And from the tribe of Gad they were given Ramoth in Gilead, a city of refuge for the manslayer, Mahanaim,
| وَأَخَذُوا مِنْ سِبْطِ جَادٍ مَدِينَةَ الْمَلْجَإِ رَامُوتَ فِي جِلْعَادَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَمَحَنَايِمَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، | ٣٨ |
39 Heshbon, and Jazer—four cities in all, together with their pasturelands.
| وَحَشْبُونَ وَمَرْعَاهَا، وَيَعْزِيرَ وَمَرْعَاهَا. وَهِيَ فِي جُمْلَتِهَا أَرْبَعُ مُدُنٍ. | ٣٩ |
40 In all, twelve cities were allotted to the clans of Merari, the remaining Levite clans.
| فَكَانَ مَجْمُوعُ مَا حَصَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ عَشَائِرُ الْمَرَارِيِّينَ بِمُقْتَضَى قُرْعَتِهِمْ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً مَعَ مَرَاعِيهَا. | ٤٠ |
41 For the Levites, then, there were forty-eight cities in all, together with their pasturelands, within the territory of the Israelites.
| فَكَانَتْ جُمْلَةُ مُدُنِ اللّاوِيِّينَ فِي وَسَطِ مِيرَاثِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ثَمَانِيَ وَأَرْبَعِينَ مَدِينَةً مَعَ مَرَاعِيهَا. | ٤١ |
42 Each of these cities had its own surrounding pasturelands; this was true for all the cities.
| وَكَانَ لِكُلِّ مَدِينَةٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمُدُنِ أَرَاضِي مَرَاعِيهَا الْمُحِيطَةِ بِها. | ٤٢ |
43 Thus the LORD gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their fathers, and they took possession of it and settled in it.
| وَهَكَذَا وَهَبَ الرَّبُّ إِسْرَائِيلَ جَمِيعَ الأَرَاضِي الَّتِي حَلَفَ أَنْ يُعْطِيَهَا لِآبَائِهِمْ فَوَرِثُوهَا وَأَقَامُوا فِيهَا، | ٤٣ |
44 And the LORD gave them rest on every side, just as He had sworn to their fathers. None of their enemies could stand against them, for the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
| فَأَرَاحَهُمُ الرَّبُّ مِنْ كُلِّ نَاحِيَةٍ كَمَا أَقْسَمَ لِآبَائِهِمْ، وَلَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ جَمِيعِ أَعْدَائِهِمْ أَنْ يُقَاوِمَهُمْ، بَلْ أَسْلَمَهُمُ الرَّبُّ لَهُمْ جَمِيعاً | ٤٤ |
45 Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to the house of Israel had failed; everything was fulfilled.
| فَتَحَقَّقَ كُلُّ مَا وَعَدَ الرَّبُّ بِهِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنْ وُعُودٍ صَالِحَةٍ. | ٤٥ |
